I'm drawing Reze from Chainsaw Man, and I feel like something is off with the pose (haven't gotten to the eye yet sry haha). I keep tweaking and tweaking and I feel like I'm making it worse. If someone could give tips/advice, or better yet visually draw over it to point out the mistakes, it'd be much appreciated. I just want to fix any issues in the sketching stage before I start coloring/rendering. I'd also appreciate general criticism. Thank you!

Hello!
I've done my best to demonstrate the possible issues in the image below.
To explain, Though your body proportions are close, it's the perspective that's giving that weird ''off' feeling. The middle of the torso doesn't follow with the rest of the body, giving it the impression that it disjointed. To fix this, simply imagine the torso and lower half as 3d object (like in the image below). Like that it'll be easier to make the pose flow more naturally.
Looking at reference of similar poses would help greatly
I also suggest:
-
visualizing the spine of the character. The spine can only bend so much and each sections (3) of the spine have different maximum angles.
-
Since the character seems to be looking down at the viewer, it's current head position looks a bit unnatural and bent. I've added another image that could be helpful to you in the future.
All-in-all, I think your character movement and flow is great! I love how the clothing and the hair ''move'' with the character's actions.
here's my take ヽ(・∀・*)ノ i recognize that this is a very stylized sketch, but what stood out to me the most was her left arm. overall, you have a good gesture established! however, considering the angle she's turned, her left shoulder + arm are way too concealed. i made a couple different edits since i didn't know whether you intended the arm to be higher or not. regardless, when sketching the upper body in a slightly turned position, keep in mind the alignment of the shoulders. in fact, if you're able to, use your phone or mirror observe how your own shoulders become more/less concealed depending on how you turn your body
Thank you for the tips! I was having so much trouble with the pose ah, I was trying to go for some cool perspective but haven't had enough practice/references to pull it off. Thank you for the draw over to help visualize it in 3d, it's much easier to recognize the off-proportions now, and much thanks for the reference of heads in different perspectives!
Thank you ah!!!! I was having so much trouble with that arm, your example is so incredibly helpful. I'll also make sure to keep your tips in mind when I attempt a pose like this again. Again, tysm!
The pull from neck is short distanced, so i figured the elbow should be lower
But if you still want the elbow put high, drag it a lil to the left
These versions are to keep the hand in the same position, other ways work too
I think the spine is fine ngl
I wasn’t talking about this character’s spine in particular. /gen
I was simply pointing out a tip that could help in other drawings. By mocking up the spine, it’s easier to visualize certain positions while keeping it smooth/natural
because- they asked for tips and advice on posing?
Also do u think u can help me with lighting
Oh yea i forgoe
Sorry its off topic but i need help with it lol, i just posted it earliee
