Hi Zai, sorry about that. There are a few things to try.
- Running on the Stable layer of Steam (and Decky loader, if using that)
- Check Steam Deck OS updates. I believe there's one as recent as this week. However there have been issues with it. https://github.com/SteamDeckHomebrew/decky-loader/issues/621

I haven't done anything to the files, but after adding it to Steam and mucking about with Proton, would it be better to do a fresh install?

Still at square 1, unfortunately. Here is my progress:
Stable, Fresh install, OS updated. I'm not using decky, but can try that next.
I bypassed heroic added EGL dorectly to steam. Then downloaded H2 in Game Mode.
Stuck now as i poke at methods of adding it to the library. Won't launch from .exe.

I think I've got it!
Launching Epic and then launching the game from there works.
I'll still need to figure out how to add it the library, but at least it seems to be running.

I figured out how to get it running through heroic and in turn Game mode.
It's embarassingly easy...
install through Heroic, add shortcut to desktop, then add that shortcut to steam.
Launches in game mode with no issues.
I'll just need to manually set the library image.
It does still launch Heroic first.
