#Steam Deck Error

Hey OminousBeast, can we try a full power cycle now that you've updated the software? Full shut down as opposed to a restart.
Absolutely. One moment.
Let's try again.
Still no change
For clarity- Error occurs when I select Hades 2 from the SteamOS main menu to boot.
Hmm, how about verifying the integrity of the game files?
Great idea- doing that now.
All 20764 files successfully validated, let's try to boot the game again.
Ope, still a no-go
Very odd. What happens when you tap Refresh in that message?
Another thing to try would be to remove then reinsert the SD card (if the game is installed on one).
Otherwise, we can look into your logs if you can send them over to support@supergiantgames.com. The logs can be found at:
/home/deck/.steam/logs/console_log.txt
Dolphin/Hades II/Hades II.log
Refreshing allows me to go back to the main menu of SteamOs. Messing around a little more with the issue- This appears to be happening with any title in my library, so good news on your end is this doesn't seem to be related to Hades 2.
Hmmm
Still, sorry about that
I found someone having a similar issue on the SteamDeck reddit forums. Looks like a wonky update on Valve's end.
Okay, looks like a possible workaround would be switching the proton version
Hades II should work on 8 or higher, and experimental
If the game does not launch, we recommend forcing Hades II to run under a designated Proton version:
- Press the Steam button and navigate to Settings > Properties > Compatibility
- Check 'Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool'
- Select Proton 8.0-5 (or the latest that comes with the Steam client)
When you switch proton versions it will probably add it to a download queue. Then you'll have to wait a few moments for that to download and install
Good news- I switched over to Desktop Mode, and the game boots and loads without issue.
That's a nice workaround. I'll have to remember that one
It's a good way I've found to troubleshoot some peskier games that aren't verified on the Steam Deck yet. Some users online are saying this particular error might be due to Decky Loader / the custom plugin launcher for the Steam Deck.
If other users face this issue, the solution others have figured out is to 1.) Just wait for Valve to iron out the bugs, or 2.) Remove Decky plugins providing errors (they'll show up on the bottom right side of the screen) until the display error stops appearing.
I will, it's my first time playing the Early Access! I'm super excited- thanks for your time and support!!
Hey, seeing this late. I've seen an error like this once on my Deck and it was also related to Decky loader. For what it's worth, I try to stay on the stable channel (both in Decky and at the Steam layer). Hope this helps
Just to update you both, I found the Github Issue forum that has concrete solutions to the issue for now. https://github.com/SteamDeckHomebrew/decky-loader/issues/621
