Yeah the game can get a bit confused if you do things too fast. I hit credits around 26 runs, and there were some dialogue that came after that that made it seem like he was still in the process of trying to escape still (for the original reason).

TD1 is a nice free heat point, TD2 is normally not too bad either but it just depends. I just had my slowest run ever at about 30 minutes and I would have been dead if I turned on TD2 instead of another level of Extreme Conditioning.

Is there another dependency? I was doing it at the same time as the Orpheus stuff, so it's hard to say if when Zag was talking to Nyx about contracts and stuff, if I missed something there.

I think SuperGiant think of the Zag-plot that develops over clears as being the "primary Storyline", and all the other stuff is to help you feel busy with late endgame repeats.

So, I think that what SGG model as the "average" player is that they start getting clears about 20-30 runs in, and probably get to the start of epilogue before or at 50 or so? Which is fast enough that the epilogue triggers still give lots of stuff to do.
It's not designed for someone like me, who first cleared 107 runs in, and is probably going to be at ~150+ before I get to epilogue.

@crystal raven Where's the bottleneck? If the problem is the final boss, you could do low-heat runs focused on saving up obols so you can buy the blood/diamond at Charon's shop in the final area.
If you can consistently beat the final boss at low heats, you can try for Poseidon's fishing boon to increase the odds of a fish spawning in the final area--the rewards for those are blood/diamond/ambrosia

I've beaten the game with each weapon once, and I've gotten up to the last boss (and died) on each weapon with 1 heat. So going up to 2 heat means I don't get more bounties, until I can finish the bounty for 1 heat.
I haven't tried just keeping obols by for the final shop tbh. I usually spend everything by then on more boons

My standard "farming" setup is Extreme Measures 3 + Middle Management + Tight Deadline 2. On it's own enough for 11 heat and can be upped by various modifiers depending on weapon and mood.

You need to get Perfect Catch (< 0.34 seconds) and then it’ll be a 5% chance to be Legendary according to the wiki. In practice it feels a lot more common

honestly for fishing i've resorted to closing my eyes and waiting for the catch sound effect
looking at the bobber causes me to fall for fakes or wait too long on real catches trying to confirm that it's a real catch

The bobber will drop a maximum of three times, if it hasn't pinged by the third time the fourth is guaranteed.
Count the bobs, if you know it's coming it's easy to react quick.
