Chaos is a lot more bursty and has high damage no matter what, Zeus requires a lot more finagling but has really high damage potential and is safer.

And usually people who prefer one can't stand the other because it feels bad.

Yeah! They're super different from each other and I love it. still means I can't get a handle on the Chaos style but that's why different weapons exist in the first place

Zag shield never seemed too great to me

#

damage reduction is nice and adds up over the run, but that seems like a lot of defense when the shield already blocks a lot. You still gotta clear the rooms.

Shield can block all attacks, the throw is great for inflicting stat de-buffs (particularly DOOM), and the melee hits in a wide arc while hitting multiple times. It's a pretty solid weapon.

That being said, I pretty much only run Chaos aspect on it.

I was just talking about how I don't think shield is the ideal-starting-weapon without-question in gameplay. Its very strong if players are able to catch on quick to the games mechanics, but the strengths of the shield rely upon using it to its strengths, which aren't necessarily obvious or easy to use to new players

I would agree to that. I feel like the full strength of the shield isn't realized until you get Chaos Aspect and can start stacking debuffs quickly with your throw. But at the same time, the ability to just block damage would be useful to beginners who aren't used to dodging constantly. I worry a little about how to help those folks transition.

I feel like if you come to the game already being able to dodge consistently you have a huge leg up on those new to the genre and the shield is rather unnecessary. At this point the only time I might block something is if I'm charging up a bull rush or something.

I think with both bosses buffed by EM, the furies can prove to be quite tough because you have less time to build yourself up. However, I find the Hydra to be much more annoying and tend to lose more health than to the furies

hydra is annoying for sure, because of the extra heads, but tbh if i reflect on my escape attempts, i usually have to defy death when i battle the furies

greek mythology is free real estate. sure there are commonly accepted variations of stories but there are often so many interpretations to things (and contradictions galore) that there's really no point or fun to sticking strictly to mythology. if you aren't putting your own spin on it you're doing it wrong

point remains this is not a unique thing in greek mythology but the instance with ares and aphrodite is one of the very few times its so openly scorned and ridiculed, and i think it primarily has to do with the fact ares is already disliked by the other gods. i mean, when you think of aphrodite, your first thought may have to do with love, but when someone mentions ares, that incident or his general unlikable demeaner is often brought up.

its not comparable to what occurs in the game, no. and i dont know, while someone may think its boring to not have a consequence to having multiple ongoing romances just because of the most well known instance in greek mythology dictates it should have drama, i think adding more drama onto the already ongoing family and relationship drama the game has is also boring

my only true complaint about the game's romance is that you are expected to romance meg and/or than, because its the only way you get any substantial content from it. if you turn them down their reaction is little more than 'are you sure? okay see you later then' and thats it. its honestly disappointing that theres no meat to it after all the build up

don't get me wrong, i DID romance them both because i wanted to see their lines, but just as there's no consequence to getting them both, there's no content to backing off
