As a completionist sort of player I actually prefer some things to be a little more hidden or counterintuitive to accomplish

Hypnos has unique lines for every enemy you can die to, I’m pretty sure, it makes sense that you’d also need to die to get an extended interaction about something like this with him

@Mo Heat, Mo Problems 'Are there plans to introduce other gods even if they don't get their own boon? Who would you like to add the most?'We have plans for one more character as part of our push toward exiting Early Access and getting to v1.0 of Hades. It was never really our goal to add all of the Olympians, vs. telling the specific story we wanted to tell. That's part of the reason why we opted for a frankly unpopular Olympian in Demeter over someone like Apollo, who is much more widely known, but less relevant to the specific story we're trying to tell here.
We didn't always plan on having Demeter in this game, and I'm really glad we did. Our cast has expanded to include characters we didn't originally anticipate, and at this point it has just about everybody I would have hoped for. There are tons of other compelling characters from Greek myth we think about, too, though we want to fully deliver on the many individual character stories we've set up.

Okay Kam, not to distract from Than, but here's my idea: 5 panel comic, laid out in 4 stacking layers. First two panels are one of Patroclus's long monologues, maybe with a close-up on his depressed eyes in panel 2. Panels 3 and 4 (half-width, in the third layer down) is Patroclus looking up and then facefaulting at what he's seeing. Panel 4 is a super-deformed Zagreus with tears welling in his eyes/bawling his eyes out. Like, the most deformed anime you can think of turned up to 11.

its not really that wild for thanatos and hypnos to act more "human" when they're incarnations of things humans commonly experience

hypnos asks you about it when you die to him, he asks multiple times. he doesnt inquire about it when you win against asterius because hypnos sees your cause of death, so if you win, you dont die to him and hypnos has nothing to comment about
ive heard some people say theseus works too but i never got it to progress other than intentionally dying to asterius specifically

i often ended my runs there because its more reliable than hoping the solo asterius fight pops up
and again, the quest progress happens through deaths because hypnos sees your cause of deaths. so he sees you died to asterius and it reminds him, hey! i asked you about that autograph, have you gotten it yet?
it makes perfect sense why death progresses it because hypnos keeps track of the cause of death of anyone who passes through the pool

that means you beat Asterius, too
it's really not that difficult of a logic to stretch
the only issue is if the dialogue specifically mentions your death and whether it could be modified not to
so you could progress the quest regardless of dying to Asterius
