Patroclus the defies Achilles, dresses up like him, gets ganked, Achilles finds out, rages, becomes horrifically emotionally scarred, goes battlerage, single handedly precipitates the mass murder, pillaging, and general awfulness of Troy. Then he dies. I wouldn't call that parting just fine.

In most cases when we update or add new narrative content earlier in the game, you will simply not see it because you are past the point when it would happen. In the case of Chaos' "Respond" events, that will be introduced early for new players and hopefully will feel less jarring than it did for you.

Aspect of enormous firework battery/hwacha is a good way to think outside the box with it. Unless the devs wanted to go full ham with it and just make a laser rifle but that would probably be too outside the game’s scope, even for a legendary future aspect.

I'm not a huge fan of how it was turned on its head from Eros to Philia (extremely close friends)/Agape (unconditional), since I think those and Storge (familial) are more than common enough depictions even if they're not named so specifically.
I also think Zagreus comes on super strong, but that might still be beside the point
