A locked heart means there is a quest that needs to be completed, in order to proceed with the relationship with the character.

The quest triggers when you get to the locked heart and, as things stand most quests must be completed over multiple runs.

|| The "easiest" quest, than's just requires that you beat his butt every chance you get multiple times. I think you might also need to have defeated the final boss but that is unlikely and just my speculation. You should also interact with him every time he has an exclamation point over his head and gift him nectar every chance you get ||

it's basically not grindable until you've beaten the game once; technically if you can make it to zone 4, you can buy diamonds/blood with 1000/1500 coins. Also, the trader will sometimes offer 1 blood for 10 nectar.

I'm mad because at the start of the game I gave a load of nectar to Sis because I had a hunch he'd give a bonus at high friendship, only to get stuffed by the fact I need to free him first. I just assumed every character got "locked" at 7 hearts. Now I find out who has the special trinkets, and here I've been randomly doling out my nectar at random when I could have been baeing it up with Than the cutie

ambrosia is not something you need until you've gifted characters a fair number of times. I think its probably fine to sell off your first couple for upgrades you'll get more immediately. Just keep in mind you'll want to save a couple as you start approaching the mid-late game on a save

styx is more a test of click speed than anything else imo, the enemies are so quick that i'm really only making 2 quick simultaneous choices:

• how do i negotiate space (melee vs long-distance) depending on how my build is optimized
• and do i prioritize dash+attack/special or do i rely heavily on cast?

I had an Adamant Rail with level 3 Aphrodite attack damage and the Artemis arrow one as well as a bunch of extra ammo. It was really sick. It was a DPS weapon without a lot of Alpha damage. Got demolished in Styx.

But the boss fights and rooms were really fun and simple.

I just feel Styx is super cheesy. Like one room I can hide behind cover and just boringly launch my grenade every 2 seconds at the snakes. The others its a 3 foot box with 3 rats that are going to smack my HP to half with poison.

lol, yeah...the shield is the best weapon in the game...i started out playing with stygian blade, would cheese through the game before supernova got nerfed...

the shield is the best because the bull rush gives you protection from attack and projectiles (even when charging) so it has the benefit of the stygian blade but the explosive return takes it to a new level

i can use shield to beat 10+ heat (up to 16 heat) to beat all 4 biomes...losing maybe one death defiance to hades...

last night, i was grinding for ambrosia and i couldn't beat hades with stygian blade on 1 heat no matter what combo build i tried (i tried 5-6 runs over 4-5 hours_

At max rank the Chaos egg guarantees 40% Rare or better, which is nothing to scoff at. (As well as 0 health penalty for taking the gate.)

Chaos rewards really good players for being really good, but its also very useful if you play with Timed Deadline. Because taking a Chaos room acts as one of the rooms in a biome, it drastically shortens the length of a biome, which can save you valuable seconds and offer you an insanely busted direct improvement.

you asked this a few hours back i think cinematic, but i use battie over mort because battie is almost instantenous and has a bigger area and mort isn't with a smaller area. Most of the things I hit with it aren't supposed to die from it anyways, i just want to chisel a big chunk of health off certain bosses. For example, I almost instantly use battie on theseus and asterius and if i have a good build like hunting blades or poison stacking i can kill asterius in another 10 or so seconds and rush after theseus.

i think my fastest run was battie-> scintillating feast with zeus legendary, the double bolt chance, and jolt

so... i was thinking that most of the gods where like REALLY looking forward to have zagreus with them, but we know that he´s looking for her real mother and that stuff,so i was thinking that it should be like the start of the second part of the sotry, i mean,after you beat your father zagreus will go to search for her mother and the gods doesn´t want that he try it (because...reasons,that´s how almost of the greek mitology works) and feel disgusted to him,so they take out all his blessings and now he is gonna try to find,i dunno, an oracle or something to ask her/him where´s her mom,but now the papers are inverted, the gods want to stop him on earth and now he´s getting his boons from his/her friends in the underworld, something,like i dunno, the boi hypnos giving him the ability that the shots can now sleep for 2 seconds his enemies and stuff like that, with the bosses being the greek gods (selected randomly) trying to stop him,after i think,3 or 4 stages of fighting in earth he finally finds the oracle and she/he tells her what he was seeking.

it´s just my personal thought of how can the story evolve on a future update (maybe), hope at least you enjoyed reading it, also if u want to add something or put your idea of how the history can continue plz leave it, i want to read it too! n.n

And the "ooh, I'm naked!" seems a little too try-hard to me.

On a side note, I think it'd be cool to have wall-scroll options for all the characters in the game, and you could pick and choose which ones to hang on your wall. Actually, I'd like to see a big overhaul and improvement to the "decorating Zag's room" aspect of the game. Like being able to rearange stuff and redecorate from your purchased options at will. Obviously this is rogue-lite, but I could see it being developed more down the road.

Another side note, I still have the glowing 'Renovate' interact point in the middle of Zag's room where I never installed the Aphrodite wall-scroll. I bought it back in the day (when it was still purchased from Charon's Well) just to make room for more benificial options, even though I didn't want it.

@tidal spire Those are unlocked by progressing far enough along with certain characters' (||Than, Meg, Skelly, & Sisyphus||) affection ranks. If you give them enough Nectar and Ambrosia and encounter them long enough, a gray heart with a keyhole in it will appear in their Codex affection ranks. Once that happens, certain requirements dependent on the character will need to be fulfilled (for some of them this is vague), and once they are, they will gift you with a ||Legendary Keepsake which you can take one of with you each run that lets you summon said character for help a limited number of times per run, but no more than once per combat encounter.||

@green totem That is a "Romance Path" indicator. If you gift the character anymore Nectar/Ambrosia past that point, you will be sending signals that you are romantically interested in them. You will still have the opportuntiy later to refuse their advances, but their feelings for you will be out in the open.
This symbol is also on Than.
