Transistor and bastion were good, but I think one of the best parts about pyre is the fact that you can have 9 beautiful characters to befriend.
And agonize over.
and thats one of the things that Supergiant is really good at. And it shows in hades. The gameplay is about going through rooms and murdering things, but it becomes so much more through the characters.
I want to talk to them all. I want to get to know and understand them. I want to hear their reactions when I succeed despite the odds. Hearing Achilles tell me that he's proud that I made it past Megara is a lot better reward than 100 darkness

Plus they have a huge wind-up.
If you've got all of your dodges from the mirror yet, then avoiding the splash is easy.

The two inferno bomber dudes you meet on your way to meg usually chip a bit of my health off, but its later in lavaland where there's just so many bombers, I have no idea how to not get hit. Probably need to be prioritizing enemies better

Yeah, Asphodel is a significant leap in difficulty for sure, I can't really help you there. I tend to wait until the flash/near end of the attack animation to dodge.
Helps with avoiding attacks from the floating skulls that inevitably swarm the screen.

The bombers that explode in melee distance will chase you down to blow up, so use that to your advantage.

Still jumping from weapon to weapon, shield feels great but my tiny 3 cell brain cannot comprehend my special being to throw and not to block, and having to hold attack to block
so I find myself sometimes chucking my shield instead of blocking
