And other gods are implied not to know that she's the reason he wants out (and are under the impression that Nyx is his real mom).

Yeah, after several ambrosias Achilles lets you know he's already devoted to someone else, later he'll have a chat with you about Patroclus, and when you get a drink with him he tells you that Patroclus is probably in Asphodel somewhere but that they parted on bad terms and haven't seen each other since they died

When you give Achilles multiple Ambrosia he assumes Zag has a romantic interest which he then politely rebukes, stating his heart belongs to another, most likely referring to Patroclus.
While the Illiad doesn't explicitly state Achilles and Patroclus were lovers, it's heavily implied. Patroclus convinces Achilles to let him lead the Myrmidons attacking Trojan forces at the beachhead, which Achilles reluctantly agreed to and gave his friend his armor so he could impersonate Achilles. Agaist Achilles orders Patroclus persued the fleeing Trojans which eventually lead them to be ambushed and Patroclus being killed by Trojan hero Hector. Achilles did not take that well.
I don't know why in Hades Achilles said they parted on bad terms - it was certainly quite tragic though
