About the issue a bit higher 👆, there is something called SDL, it's something which looks like the game use and its used for input in the game

Can you run the dxdiag which Hellis told you about? Go to screen tab and see whats the date of you graphic driver? Also did you already installed C++ redistributable ? The game cant get corrrect informations whats mean that an module does it wrong or doesnt include such instruction.

Driver date is the 24th of December 2019, though NVIDIA claims its release date as the 6th of Januari. And yes, I have installed the C++ redistributable

Hi, I have a problem where Hades is just crashing, most often during fights but occasionally when using a move or accepting a god buff, to desktop without any prior warning or proceeding crash report window. It freezes and never recovers, even though the music is still playing in the background. It used to crash every minute or so until I --

Verified the files a few times
Downloaded that 2019 Visual Studio x64 C++ Redistributable
Reinstalled Hades and restarted the computer
Changed the resolution and turned it to window mode.
Updated Windows

And yet I'm still having problems where it can suddenly and without warning end my run. Additionally, it almost always takes 2 or 3 minutes to even load the game upon pressing play, except for the first time after I restart my computer. I play through Steam. I disabled the overlay, checked that my NVIDIA drivers are up to date (they are) and play with keyboard and mouse. I've tried running as administrator. I want to be able to play this at 1080 and figure out what's causing all these crashes. Does anyone know of any other solutions?

Getting some weird FPS problems here. Ryzen 3700X & Radeon 5700 @ 1080p 165hz.
While totally idle I can stay at ~165fps but the moment I move the mouse it drops to around 90, even in the main menu.
Disabled Vsync but that just led to 400+ fps dropping down to ~90 in the menu, even lower in-game.

Up-to-date drivers, reinstalled to an ssd, definitely running x64, no controllers plugged in, disconnected second monitor, disabled all overlays, any other ideas? Or is this normal FPS?

Slightly unrelated note, dual monitors with fullscreen, mouselock or borderless causes strange mouse sensitivity bugs. Not a big issue though since disabling them all doesn't change much for me.

Edit: Tried lowering refresh rate but consistently lost ~40% of whatever the refresh rate was set to. Also tried an xbox one controller and managed to drop to 80fps from 165 just dashing around Skelly. 😅

Hi, I sent a report about 7-10 minutes ago about a vacuum-like sound happening during combat whenever I do a bullrush charge for the shield which persists for that room.

I want to expand that report to say that some of the minor sound effects in the game have stopped happening. For instance, the reflect chime for the mirror no long happens. Adding or subtracting darkness no longer makes any noise.

Also, there's no sound for adding or subtracting heat.

@hardy adder you can't do much about opengl on AmD, the api is not supported by amd. So it's OK that you have 80+ fps :)

Hope that final version will be a little better in case of stability, it's early access so they did not made a change into this direction. Also if they will release Linux version then AmD driver for Linux still support opengl and the performance is like twice as good as on windows.

This is quite true, but the API just is not supported on AMD, SGG uses is because its the only API which is multiplatform supported by their framework. So it enable them to port the game later to Xbox, Playstation, Switch and later via layer to Metal and work on iOS. The next API supported by MonoGame is DirectX which is supported only on Xbox and PC.
Also After full release with tweaks the game will works fine. We need to remember its still in Early Access

@normal briar What do you mean? If the game is displaying the right version number when you boot it up, then it's been updated. You can verify the installation through Steam by right-clicking Hades in your library > properties > local files > verify integrity of game files.

For some reason the smoke/steam effects are so loud and door/boat opening to new area has been dropping in and out.

I have Hades through Steam. When I launch, it takes about 90 seconds for it to come up. This is every single time I hit "Play". My computer is not frozen during that wait, it just takes the whole time before the application appears to me. I've tried this on my NVMe drive as well as my sata SSD, same issue from both install locations.

Hello. Today I entered Hades to discover that my save file appears to have been rolled back, such-that it thinks I haven't played since Jan. 21st. I only recently bought the game, so in the process I've lost most of my Keepsakes, the weapons I've purchased, and most of my Darkness. Is the progress I made lost forever? If not, how do I restore it?

I just finally got around to trying the new update and my save game is gone! It's not the biggest deal if I have to start over, considering the nature of the game, but I'd prefer to reclaim my progress if anyone knows how I can fix this. I tried removing the ".bak" from my Profile1.sjson.bak akin to what the tech fixes channel suggested, but that didn't do anything, so I reverted it

I have a similar problem to Kelpmonger, in that my save data has been deleted, I haven't renamed the file as suggested in the tech fixes because this is a new laptop and I don't have access to the old one I used to play on to copy the files.

deleting my saved game folder and relaunching. However this obviously wipes my user settings and it's a pain to reconfigure everything each game launch. Since that solves the issue I guess it's one of the settings causing it?

I have a Hori RAP 4 arcade stick and an xbox 360 controller plugged into my PC. Sometimes the game seems to recognize the arcade stick as the main controller, sometimes my 360 controller. Now of course I could simply unplug my arcade stick, but I am also very lazy. Is there any way to ensure my xbox pad is always recognized?

ok so IDK if this is just a graphical issue or what, but I'm running the Rail that gets empowered by the special, and occasionally I get the empowered reload shot. Any idea when the hotfix for crashing will be available? I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps and I still freeze on startup. When I click anywhere I get the not responding and it closes out. When I restart my computer I can play for about 5 minutes then it crashes again

Kinda weird one for here. I think I may have solved my freezing problem. As soon as my game starts to freeze if I quickly unplug my controller it unfreezes and I can plug in my controller and resume playing until the next freeze. It usually happens as I open the door to the next room

@alpine cipher Yeah, sorry that's not related to the crash we hotfixed - it might be your controller driver. You can check Windows Event Viewer for Hades crashes and see if you see any references to EZFRD64.dll

on the opposite side of the play button in your library there should be a gear button where you can open a drop down menu. from there go to properties

after you do that you should see a properties tab pop up. from there click on local files and click "verify integrity of game files"

I'm also having a sound bug, but a different one. I died during the Minotaur/Thesius fight using the shield, and when I got back to the house, only certain people's voices are audible? At first no one but Meg was audible but when I restarted I could hear Orpheus singing, Hades could talk, but Dusa and possibly others were silent still.

If you're starting the game from the launcher it should be auto-selecting the best version for your computer; if you created a shortcut, that would probably be where I'd think you might be playing x86 without noticing it.

Alright. The debug log has probably been cleared, then, and I'd imagine any windows error reporting would just show that the game had stopped responding. If you run into this crash again, could you send the game's debug log along with a description of what happened to support@supergiantgames.com? The debug log will be with the game's save files in Documents\Saved Games\Hades.

There's still an issue where the right thumbstick has no icon - as far as I know, my Steelseries Stratus XL should be considered a standard XInput controller.

Hey there! Just started playing the game, seems great so far! Problem is, the game freezes for me in shops. It doesn't freeze immediately, but if I stay in there more than 30 secs or so, it'll freeze up. I've been able to run through the rooms fast enough to continue sometimes, but often I'll have to close the game several times.

no rush on this, i'm leaving in a sec. I followed the directions and got to a shop. Same thing. I went back into the device manager and disabled the integrated driver. It did work but the game ran horribly otherwise. Seems like some of my computer processes are tied to that integrated graphics card.

Hello - I've not been hearing any music in the game since yesterday. I used to have the game on like 20% on all sounds in-game but even when I bring it to 75% still nothing so it's not a volume issue. It just doesn't seem to have any music anymore? Worked fine last week.

Nevermind it IS a volume issue. Brought it all the way up to 100%, lowered everything else, brought up the windows sound and now I can hear very faint music...

Had an issue last night, completed my first full successful run and the lines for [Redacted] weren't voiced or didn't play their audio. Zagreus still played his speech. When I got back to the House of Hades, Hypnos and Orpheus didn't do their voice lines either.

Hi, my game freezes and goes to not responding. It happens randomly. It started after the 29.01 patch. It never happened before. It happens at random, sometimes before first boss. The most i managed to do is to get to 3rd boss and it frozed during the fight. The game is currently unplayable i wasnt able to compleate even a single run without game going to not responding. After restarting the game/steam and loading the save file, there is a black screen. Game loads for about 5-10 min and places me into the main HUB.

I may add that I just had a similar issue. I would have f10-d it, but y'know, game crashed. I was in asphodel, but I get the feeling it may have been the overload of a bunch of processes going off at once. I was using the Rail, and had gotten Thunder Dash, Double Strike, and Splitting Bolt. My guess is that it likely crashed due to trying to load either a new wave of monsters or the room reward while I was dashing and finished reloading the rail all at once, so 3 thunder strikes + splitting bolt were all going off at the same time.

@inner venture It might be it but the game froze on me without a reason too. Last time I had a good spamy build and the 3rd boss launched his spam attack with a lot of circles and i think i have launched the Cast with rapid fire when game froze. But I remember also that the game froze once at the beginning just after exiting the hub. Have not fired even once nor seen a monster.

last time I loaded the game I had a really weird bug - Zagreus's spoken dialogue was fine, but Hades only spoke through the left ear even when I was standing to his left, and all other characters dialogue was silent. Alt-tabbing out and in to the game "fixed" it for that dialogue box alone, and I had to do it every time someone said something new

I've done quite a few runs so far but after defeating each main bosses for the first time, they don't drop the titan blood/diamond/nectar anymore after that.. they just drop darkness or gems. Is there a percentage on how rare the drops are? or am i bugging out?

@tiny cradle If your drivers are up to date and the game is still crashing after a clean driver install, you can try adjusting your GPU settings - make sure Hades is running on high performance mode, for example - and turn off the Radeon overlay if you're using it. These crashes can be kind of hard to pin down.
Turning on AMD anti-lag (or turning it off, if it's currently enabled) and turning off vsync may also help.

It's gone on long enough at this point that I don't know that it's ever going to happen. Not sure this is really the correct channel for it though... I gave Skelly 6 Nectar and he never gave me the option to complete his favor and give him Ambrosia. I've completed 6 or 7 runs since then, and spoken to him each time. 👌 it's come up in the past that sometimes hitting f10 doesn't switch you over to the bug report window and jsut puts it up in the background, which looks a lot like a game freeze unless you go looking for it

i had a bug:
I killed Lord Hades but at the same time he killed me, both scenes crossed and i stayed at the lord house froze. After that Lord hades wasn't in his throne and i went to the tavern where both, megara and thanathos, told me hat i was allowed in there but not welcomed any more.
Did the animation that i had acctually escaped from there happened or... what?

Also, the weapon that i had doesn't say anything that i escaped or anything in its differentes "skins/forms"

Hi guys, new here, but having a problem. Hades Pauses when i click off it and I would like it not to. Is there any possible way to keep it active when clicking off it via setting somewhere or even downloading another program to keep it active? "always on top" programs don't work, it keeps the window on top but not active and it still pauses. @ me or even dm if you have a solution, thanks!

Isn't there an issue where if you have 2 or more boons from Chaos that they stack but it doesn't show on the screen. it just happened to me and i thought that it was something that was fixed with the last patch. As you can see the icon indicates the Epic rarity boon from earlier but the description only shows the most recent one.

I don't if this counts as a bug
But I was doing a run that I got chaos twice and the second time was i selected the defiance boon( died before it was transformed)
In the next run, I offered nectar to them and the chaos' boons quest appeared (I already had the cosmic egg)
But with no defiance unlocked
So is this really a bug? (quest not showing up)

Keyboard+mouse and auto aim configuration: it works only versus nearest enemy, but does not work for middle range and long range and Zagreus attacks in front of himself if he can not auto aim (no nearest enemy, only long range). I have a really weird problem where the sound effect from a "charge" attack (like the upgraded spear special, or the bullrush power shot) ? It just continues playing, even through rooms. The sound always seems to be coming from the same spot though. It is even playing in the House of Hades now. This is the second or third time this happened

Heya, last week i reported a problem with 2 instances of failed to load required game files, which was not fixed by verifying, reinstalling etc. Ive send a report via mail as well, complete with debug log. I want to add a bit to it:
Today I decided to uninstall visual C++ redistributable (all versions i had installed) and I installed the 2015-2019 version. The issue remains the same, both after a verify and new installation.

for some reason dash is bugged; i thought it was just my keyboard but the game isn't receiving feedback from me pressing the spacebar to dash. I have tested out games that also use spacebar and it was working fine even when i spammed it. So dash every once and awhile will work but sometimes it doesnt and im running in a pool of lava

So I need to uninstall and reinstall the game if I want to play the game in fullscreen. This is infuriating, and I only play it in window mode and not on my ultra-wide screen. By doing that, I cant see my god (F) meter, or how much gold I have.

Well, that is the ulta-wide screen. When I uninstalled the game and install it. It works fine. But when I turn off the game, and boot it back up. It lags, the game flickers black and just does not work. Not sure if i should poke on of the supergiant for it?

Ever since the update the game is "unable to save progress to storage device". When I click ok it causes the game to crash. I've tried white listing it in my antivirus but that doesn't work either. Also noticed that I can't find the save file in the steamapps folder

I had a bug today where I got to 2nd phase of final boss, about halfway dead. Ran into him with Athena call, swung a few times (with the sword beam upgrade) and he died somewhat quickly. After that, the death dialogue box appeared but VO didn't play. When I came back to HoH, same thing happened with Hypnos, Orpheus (Lyre lesson). Quit the save and re-entered and re-occured but only resolved when quit the game and re-loaded it. Not sure how or why this occurred. Happened to anyone else?

so i've recently noticed a HUGE decrease in playability because of lag, this happens in every chamber where the camera is able to zoom out or get a wider view than normal

i'm using an AMD R9 390, the recommendations in catalyst suggest decreasing graphics settings from ultra to high, resolution from 1440 to 1080, render scale from 120 to 100%

however the only one of those options that appear in the graphics menu is resolution which is currently showing to be already set at x1080

#

are these options somewhere and i just can't find them?

So, I noticed that some of my Chaos boons seemed to be hiding behind other boons (at first I thought they were just disappearing until I saw ↩️ 3 in front of a duo boon). I pressed F10 to report the bug... and the game crashed. :(

i've had issues with the multiple audio tracks loading incorrectly or out of sync. not sure if its out of incidence but i never encountered this issue prior to the long winter update.

(worth noting is that this also used to occure infrequently in pyre)

then not too sure if this is a good place for posting more gameplay oriented bugs but just now i encountered an issue with purging boons where you do not get any money after selling them

i tried experimenting with it briefly by, loading in and out, selling multiple boons at once, switching my current boon out to a different one before doing the transaction and vise-versa.

not sure if it has anything to do with the transaction occurring in one of the safe havens (particularly the one after the hydra boss) demeter's cultivation boon (the boon i tried purging wasn't under its effect) or any other modifier that came up in that run.

is this a known bug?

Tried restarting, unplugging the controller I had plugged in, running the game as Admin. Nothing. I can move the mouse around but there is simply no cursor.

F.lux is a program for Windows that adjusts the color of your screen as it gets later at night

It's supposed to reduce sleep issues caused by blue light from screens

ok so, Turned off Fullscreen and Borderless, changed the resolution to anything other than 2560x1440, cursor cam back.
Put 2560x1440 back on, cursor is there now. But it's also Full Screen?

Hey! So I just bought Hades, ran the game through Steam, and the game launches, but I can't actually see the game. I'm tabbed into it, can hear the menu screen audio and everything, but can't actually see the game. I've tried uninstalling, restarting, running as admin, changing launch settings, running as admin from files. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

i also just got the bug where sound becomes extremely quiet for some things; hades dialogue, various sounds regarding purchases/boons being dropped/acquired, gold gain, etc. it happened after I opened and quickly exited one of the wells that lets you sell boons in the hallway between Elysium and the temple of Styx

Casts shoot through the walls of the boss arena in Elysium and every chamber in Styx when using the Hera aspect on the bow. I was constantly losing all 4-5 of my casts yesterday because they kept going out of bounds.

Also, the game crashed the last time I tried to report a bug using F10, which is why I'm reporting this here instead.

The bug reporter window may have spawned behind the game; if something like that happens again you can alt+tab

Also we're aware of an interaction between Hera Aspect bow and the Chain Shot hammer specifically that causes this issue - that's probably what you saw

as of right now im playing hades and im experiencing a ton of lag. i dont think ive had this much lag before so this is strange. usually just some small spikes but this is getting a little crazy i have a fairly good computer. i can play pretty much anything with little to no issue. i tried setting hades to high priority via task manager, i updated nvidia to the newest update, i deleted a whole bunch of files, and still nothing. i use a laptop, not a pc. it's connected to my monitor and i play with a pro controller (if that helps).

the frame rates start dropping as soon as more than 4 enemies come onto screen at the same time also.

i mean, my lag spikes are like... 3-4 seconds long? it kinda sucks when you're really into everything and then it lags while you're trying to fight 5 longspears and the lag throws you so out-of-the-loop that you lose 30hp because you just stop attacking because the lag is so bad.

It just randomly started lagging on me too intermittently, it was perfectly fine on the exact same settings earlier

I was in the heat of a battle and the games froze with the latest time period of sound looping for a while. I tried to Alt-Tab to get out of the game and this happens. Pressing F10 doesn't work either.

Hello! I am having a problem with Hades crashing when I press the X button on the early access notification when the game launches. The game was working fine prior until it just crashed one day. I have tried uninstalling, verifying game files and restarting steam but im not sure what to since none of that worked. Anyone know what might be causing this problem?

Spelunking around in the TraitData.lua and it looks like some boons might be misattributed Not sure what all uses the God Property, but DemeterRangedTrait at least says it belongs to Zeus:

So I know that the issue with the audio in which the voices of only certain characters and certain SFX randomly going away is ongoing and something you guys are working on. I noticed the time that it most recently happened I pushed the reset button in the settings menu right after I started the game up. Pushing the reset button fixes the problem for a few seconds but it always comes back in the same game. I'm wondering if the issue could be related to the reset button? I'm not a programmer, it's just a suggestion for something you guys could check in trying to fix this issue.

If you play the game normally and make progress in the narrative and in the levels, the fishing rod and demeter boons should appear naturally based on where you are and how far you've gotten.

@frosty tiger If you're running the game from a shortcut on your desktop, you can right-click the icon and select "Properties", which should open you to the Shortcut tab which will list the shortcut's target.

The target should be in either the x64 or x86 folder for Hades

#

If you're launching it from Steam or Epic, it should be automatically selecting the right version

#

You can double-check which version it's running by starting the game, using ctrl+alt+del to open up the task manager, going to the "Details" tab, scrolling down until you find Hades, right-click > Properties, and it should list the file location under the general tab

The only exception would be typoes in dialogue or subtitles - i.e. onscreen text - in which case you could DM me a list and I'd pass them on.

Yeah, that's really odd - my guess would be that the game needed to be verified but you said you'd tried that.

Search for Event Viewer in the start menu, go to Windows Logs > Application
Select all of the "Error" events you can find related to Hades
In the Action menu bar, choose "Save Selected Events"
Run dxdiag.exe and generate a report by clicking "Save All Information". (More detailed instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028644/windows-open-and-run-dxdiagexe)
Attach the .evtx file and DxDiag.txt to an email and send it to us!

So, tried looking for an answer to this one but couldn't find it.

I played earlier today, I think, and just got back home. I turn on the game and it has one save file available to load

On that file it says I have
1 Escape Attempt
0 Total Darkness

And that I last played on
01 Jan 0001 12:00 A.M.

When I click on it, it asks if I want to Clear the Slot.

Fixed it. Profile1.sav.bak did not work either, but I had Profile1_temp.sav and Profile1_temp.sav.bak which could still load. If it helps, I had just beaten the current final boss and was standing in his arena when I loaded in.

What Opelit means is, you don't have to start the game through the launcher. Assuming Steam already downloaded the game and all the files are on your machine, you can just navigate to Steam\steamapps\common\Hades\x64 and run the Hades.exe file directly, without the launcher

So if it's a Steam issue of some sort, that doesn't have to stop you from playing; it's not like you didn't pay for it, there's just something weird going on with the launcher, right?

It depends on what the problem is - if there's an issue between the game and your setup, then buying it from Epic won't change anything. If the issue is that Steam didn't finish downloading the game and the installation is incomplete or corrupt, then getting it from Epic might help.

There's some things you can try for a black screen in #h1-tech-fixes - the first suggestion is always to update your graphics drivers

and I launched Hades

#

and on screen transition it said that saving failed

#

so I decided to shut off Hades, delete some old stuff, and restart it. And my save file was corrupted and I lost all progress

My NVIDIA driver is up to date according to driver easy, but I can't seem to access the NVIDIA control panel. I also can't find the NVIDIA file folder or find it listed in services like it's supposed to be.

NVidia control panel no longer comes packaged with their drivers. You have to download it separately from the Windows store, which seems to be the only place you can dowload a legitimate version of it.
