Ok so, I am considering buying Hades, because it looks like a bunch of fun, but my disability (hemiparesis) means that I have trouble with like, timing and doing things fast because my hands don't work very well together. A fair bit, but God Mode exists, which gives up to 80% damage reduction the more you die.

Its the fact/thing/effect that adaptations meant for disabled people/accesability end up helping others as well. Curb cuts for example help people in wheelchairs move around, but also parents with strollers and older people and even just like plain you because its easier to use than stepping down a high curb

Although my perspective on rewards is also a bit different. I never really saw much value in 'bragging rights' stuff. Hopefully God Mode or any other future accessibility options in this game won't lock achievements.

If you hate using actual cheats, that's cool. If you can't resist playing with console commands and just having a nice little sandbox with the mechanics, that's also cool.

Poseidon sword is great for speedruns, when you get the perfect combination of boons, but that doesn’t mean it’s really good on the average playthrough. If you are just playing normally, you aren’t always going to get Artemis cast with a good rarity, with extra crit boons, with enough Poms to get Artemis cast to a good level, with extra cast crystals, and hopefully the automatic cast crystal legendary boon. On the average playthrough, Poseidon will be far less spectacular.

ares in this game was always really odd to me, the god of war stacking a debuff and shooting blades? functionally doom works best with stuff that can stack doom lots n' lots, aka shield/gun. but it always feels off to me that the god of WAR doesn't have you get up close and personal very often

what were they?

one of the big ones was that ares doesn't feel thematically appropriate

he's the god of war, violence, skill in martial combat, etc.

associated with the Spartans, with swords, spears, axes, melee weapons like that

and his skills are...sword of damocles effect, beyblades, and some random bad damage boosts

second is that he's absolutely worthless if you're not lucky

because both doom and blade rifts are lackluster at best without extra boons for support

and currently there's no way to guarantee multiple boons from the same god

so his combos are crazy strong

your doom damage goes through the roof if you get one of the doom duos and the doom supports

but sucks otherwise

and blade rifts are atrocious without hunting blades, but are very powerful with

hunting blades or the legend at least

in addition, ares' skills are incredibly non-synergistic with each other

doom and blade rifts don't interact at all

urge to kill only affects blade rifts(and is generally a god-awful boon)

ares' other damage bonus boon doesn't affect either doom or blade rifts

and is also generally mediocre at best if you're not running hestia aspect

his t2 and legendary boons only work on half of his kit each, and again, if you don't get them the bases are awful

insult to injury for urge to kill is that it not only does it not affect doom, it's a 14% at best(assuming you get it to heroic) additive damage multiplier that you can't use poms on

and his call is bad even with blade rift support because it has bad pom scaling and you can't attack in it, so if you're going blade rifts you'd rather just spam your cast and invest in that

and then get a better call

Ares feels quite thematically strange compared to other gods. For a god about not only war but also violence and skill in combat, associated with Spartans and melee weapons, his effects feel plain - a spinning blade is the most thematic among bad damage boons and delayed damage. He also plays disappointingly unless you're lucky enough to get specific combos - both Doom and Blade Rifts are mediocre without other boons that support - boons you have no way of guaranteed getting. Blade Rifts in specific are awful without Hunting Blades but are quite strong with them. These "hit or miss" interactions make Ares feel quite binary to invest in - either he flops or he flies. Another point is that his pure damage boosts don't synergize with his other effects, even in the case you do get multiple Ares boons - Urge to Kill only affects Blade Rifts, and the others don't affect either of his main abilities. In general, Ares feels more generic and more polarized than any of the other gods.
