Welp at least im one less worry without debt, stpm is handy for getting into local uni which is also subsidised
Yeah exactly
We do what we can
Being minority is like running 10 heat off the bat lol
Oh woop, i have to go dinner
Honestly it is lmao it's basically hell mode
damn that's late dinner but enjoy ur food!
im always lurking here and posting art so ya haha
fingerguns

Well Gods and dead people have it easier
Sleep is for people who aren't in their 20s
and while teens might not feel like they need sleep they need it for developmental reasons
this looks like a #self-promotion thing
Bro what is this bro you cant tell us to do this bro
what if it asks for our credit card number
we need it but we avoid it anyways 😎

Or this one?
depends on what games you usually enjoy
the former definitely has nicer looking ratings though
as well as lower cost
FPX is such a better name for that genre than walking sim
<- my SDV character
considering still there I feel like Adrift would match you more, mantra
It's funny how little some genre names mean without knowledge of where the nomenclature came from
Wasn't walking Simulator a name coined by people that disliked the genre? @raven harbor
If someone wants to play a space game centered more on shooting and flying let me present you EverSpace, a THE LIST(TM) certified game
Imagine a FTL-Roguelite but you control the spaceship yourself
Getting resources fighting bad guys and running away from a constant threat
On the other hand if you want an experience much closer to FTL, play Crying Suns, another THE LIST (TM) certified game
Where you fight on a tactical grid sending ships and putting turrets and traps
Originally, yes
But it was arguably reclaimed
And now it describes a more atmospheric type of game with less focus on gameplay mechanics and more on basic exploration, atmosphere and storytelling
I still pity the creators of the genre as we know it
The guys from Dear Esther
Their two next games kinda sucked
Now people remember more gone Home as the precursor
It's still used in a derogatory manner pretty often
It doesn't help now walking Simulators do more than walk while a narrator on a soft voice begins talking with flowery language about inconsequential things
The genre has thankfully grown
With visuals, puzzles varied scenery and Making the narrator part of the experience
And the POV
Although I suppose film genres have the same issues of not making sense outside the context
We need more Stanley Parable and What Remains of Edith Finches and less Raptures and Among the Sleep
Rime and Moon of Madness were also great
I thought people liked Among the Sleep
I appreciated Gone Home but sadly is dated now
I'm trying to think if I've even played a strict walking sim
In the 'Seinfeld is Unfunny' way
Like maybe Stanley Parable once?
As everything Gone has done a lot of newer games gave outdone better with the years
And what before it's innovative now it's an old Hat
Crazy Times tho
Do you remember guys the Gone Home Controversy?
The fact the game was 20 bucks despite being only an hour long?
Now that's something from the past
I actually played a game this year that reminded me a ton to Gone Home
Including sprawling building, secret passages, constant tension, unraveling story. Didn't make me cry but it gave me goosebumps and I cant understate how BRUTAL the ending is
The Suicide of Rachel Forster
Wasn't there a time where 80% of new Indies were basically "gone home, but insert something here"
Well, there were a time were there was a drought of indies
Anyone here saw Indie game: The Movie?
It's on my watch list
Are we talking the indiepocalypse?
I think the market has somewhat recovered from that
Now thanks to cheap and accessible tools making Indies is much easier
Oh and Kickstarter
Ugh Kickstarter
I should play The Broken Age
K have been skipping on it during years
There was the Auteur Indie era
Where there were names of idea guys who created unique and wonderful indie games
Tim Schafer, Jonathan Blow, Notch, Phil Fish
Isn't Kojima considered an auteur
Hm
I find it a little 2 sided
I mean
"a hideo Kojima game" is basically a signature now
But like, what about the other 100+ people that worked on the game
The artist is also known
This isn't the movie industry where you just slap a director and actor names on the front
Though we're seeing that happen as well
I mean, I could make a really crappy game
But if I had the cash to get Troy baker or it
It would sell at least some copies
Yoji shinkawa and Hayter are also iconic to mgs tho
Left alive
His art is so unique that I instantly knew it was his
Speaking of indies
Have you seen how many get released on steam per day
Not even week or month
Shovelware most of them
An average of 40 games get on steam per day
I mean sure but you're still competing
It's a bit worrying as a dev
That's why good marketing is game
Mhm
Also art
A crappy game that looks great is going to get many more retweets than a solid game that's just basic shapes
Unless you have some really, really creative gameplay idea, you need art
Do people retweet music? Probably not
Fwiw, Indie Game: The Movie is a really solid documentary
Do people retweet music? Probably not
@flat prism They do actually! a lot
Music is also a very big factor for some games
Hmmmm
Oh yea furi
Welp
I can't do art, my coding is still not good
But the one thing I can do half well
A good example would be Doom 2016, even though it's not an indie game I can assure the game would not have reached the success it reached without the soundtrack
Mick gordon carried Doom 2016/eternal
DUNDUNDUN
Hmm
Real talk though
I'm currently trying to write a few tracks as practice and I honestly have no idea what to make
Since the team is currently trying to figure out what to make
Was thinking covering some ssg stuff but eh that's been done before
Portfolio is needed as any creative artist but put what in it
I wouldn't say Mick carried Doom, but it's just more credence to the claim that every part of a product must be excellent for it to reach masterpiece status.
I wouldn't say they couldn't have done it without Mick, but I don't know who else would be able to take that specific spot\
If that makes sense
Yeah, I agree.
It's Bethesda what do you expect
It would go down as just a really really good shooter, very mechanically solid, but the OST of 2016 pushed its entire atmosphere and package into outer space.
I haven't done much (read: any) digging, but the issue was supposed to be between Mick and id.
On the Mick thing, both sides of that made mistakes and did things the wrong way
Bethesda doesn't have anything to do with this mess.
Bethesda did ruin eternal though
Post launch is a disaster rn
id shouldn't have overpromised and Mick should have compromised somewhere in order to deliver, or at least made his intentions clear
It was alright at launch but they had to F it up
I'm happy I dodged it now, Cygnus.
Why are people buying AAA again?
MGS also has Shinkawa art and some iconic tracks
||SNAAAAAAAKE EATEEEEER||
To be fair, it was good on launch
Most of it is half baked messes that ride on a name
Outstanding, even
Depends of the developer
Most gamers aren't discerning, honestly.
I have faith Rockstar will deliver for example
Most gamers aren't even aware of how a game is made lmfao
Also yeah, there are few, but definitely a couple, AAA devs I still trust with my dollar
You have some AAA devs that consistently deliver a quality product befitting their budget and manpower.
Yea rockstar, the studio that's been making the same game for 20 years now
Nintendo, Capcom (in the last 3 years).
I mean that's Ubisoft
But it doesn't get a lot or creative points from me
I need to find a used copy of RDR2 so I can figure out just how much time of mine it wants to waste
As much as you let it
As in I don't like what I've heard about animation lengths
Got it, my bad.
I was talking about the 20 years making the same game
If you just do the story and nothing else idk 10-15 hours?
Although I don't really care for 3real5me gritty cowboy, so
I kinda feel like Activision has been making the same game longer than Ubisoft has.
You know what's a stellar cowboy game? Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Albino the rockstar game structure has remained the same: open world, go to letter on map for mission, some side stuff
Overall satire in GTA and Bully
Cars or horses
A really narrow story gameplay
Who cares about story when you can blow up things and wreak havoc?
Ubi was doing ok-ish until 4-unity
See, I quit on 3, then heard 4 was better but never picked the series back up.
I do remember Unity being a low.
As much as I liked ezio and Connor, personal stories wasn't rly the focus of AC1
I honestly never really liked AC
Imo 1 is the best game
I enjoy 1 more, but 2 is the better game.
Which in and of itself isn't that good either
Animal Crossing?
Assassin's Creed
Origins up to now it's literally witcher's creed
Odyssey is absolute cringe to play as a greek
The voicelines alone make me wanna go to Montpellier and find the writers responsible
Why?
I got that, but why?
Haha let's use the word Μαλάκα a million times
It's really bad use of the greek language
Are they using modern Greek?
iirc yes
That's weird.
Ancient Greek is pretty much another language
Because we never learned malakka in our (ancient) Greek lessons.
It's a modern word
I assumed.
What about Kingdom Come?
It's basically a curse word that's often used to refer to each other without malicious meaning
Like kurwa I guess.
much like another word with a much worse racial context
Kingdom Come was not something I heard positive things about
Eeh I'm fed up with medieval games personally
If I want high fantasy I'll just play dnd
I used to like open world games but now they just seem like a hassle
I want AAA games to remember how to use non-muted colors
@gaunt valley Tyranny
Pfffff
It's Bronze era
Good like w that lionheart
Is it on Steam? @fervent zenith
It's still 2011
Yes
I looked at Diablo 4 screenshots and stuff and I was like, appalled
Just take it a look first
I will look into it.
If it's not 50 shades of grey and brown it's not a game for grownups
Thx for the recommendation.
Outer worlds is ex obsidian Devs iirc
Outer Worlds is filed under AA I think?
Fair 'nuff
It's also okay but not great imo, but is very colorful and well-designed
Obsidian's writing
Visually at least
I'm just tired of shooting for photorealism every single time
The new GoW was pretty Vibrant gotta say
Hell even Yakuza games are more colourful
Banner Saga is gorgeous and I hate that I can't play it
Mood
Despite God of War trilogy being brown af
God I hate photorealism
I need to get my hands on Dad of Boy
It's actually the most unimaginative thing
Horizon Zero Dawn as well
Honestly I don't care about the look, I just want things to age well
Like look at how pretty Okami still looks
For the apple II
stylised definitely ages better
Those animations still hold up
realism can always improve
No realism is just boring
The Last of Us is ironically pretty colorful
realism is also edgy and uninspired
The last of us benefits from realism
Because it's actual acting
And motion cap
And the writing and actors are S tier
The clickers and stuff have actually interesting designs too
At least in the realm of zombie fiction
yeah it's a good thing when it suits the piece
But most games that use it?
Yeah but it's also bright and blue
Also Borderlands
I've heard by far more good things about Control than bad.
Control is great at times
But from what little I've seen some particle effect wouldn't hurt
Control I've heard good things about the story and tepid things about the plot
It has one of the best sequences in gaming
Mirror's Edge is also as bright as one game can be
Me is among my all time faves
Yeah same
And imo both games haven't fully tapped the potential of the franchise
RE2make and by extension RE3 are games I think benefit from shooting for a more realistic look
I was blown away by that first clip of like, looking at the jaw in 2
Seeing the zombie need 6 shots to the head to die
Figure out the rest
They made zombies scary again
It's worked before, but not in this case
Anyone here played Days Gone to give an opinion?
Re3make was just a cashgrab
I'm a bit concerned about 4, but not that much, since 4 classic is still entirely playable and good
It could use some polishing
Like it's definitely a game from 2004
cough QTEs on professional cough
I just want real Spanish actors for 4
I think that's just a PC issue
I played on both
Running at 60 makes the QTEs harder
I find the tank controls in 4 unbearable now.
I did my first professional run last month and those endgame areas do not hold up on that difficulty
We've gotten to the point where we're more excited for remakes of old games rather than new ones
I mean, I'm hyped for THPS
And I played the crap out of the spyro remake
But is this really where AAA is going?
I don't think so.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug
RE7 is pretty good
RE8 has a lot of pretty amazing ground to build itself off now.
I wish there were more enemy types but still real good
Like it has merit people loved it despite not really being a RE game
I'm amazed at how well the RE engine is handling everything
I just want to see more originality from AAA, they definitely have the resources and senior staff to pull it off
Resident Evil has reinvented itself 2 or 3 times now.
RE7 is more of an RE game than half the numbered entries lol
Cygnus, you're asking for artistic intentions in a brutally capitalist system.
Little less than half, depending on how you feel about 4
Hellblade is Triple A?
Ninja Theory usually does good work
I enjoyed Heavenly sword and Enslaved
I think the biggest 'Indie' Studio is IN THEORY Gearbox
I'd really like DMC5 Vergil DLC.
Even hellblade combat is sick
Remember when NT trolled us with the permanent Death lie?
Judgment Cut End in the RE Engine? Sweet merciful Neptune.
Hey maybe give Platinum some big bucks
Make some game that stars like
A dude and his dragon or something
Platinum is a double edged sword
Still mad about that
Either something great, or something the opposite of great
TMNT flashbacks
I need to play Vanquish on PC.
Vanquish is mad underrated
I'd argue Platinum has like, one or two bad games, a few tepid entries, and the rest are knockouts
I had it og in ps3
The actual bad ones being TMNT and Star Fox Zero
Eh
Korra is Fine, especially at the budget it released at
RIP Scalebound
Speaking of Platinum and Japanese studios
Nintendo's doing ok
They're not reinventing the wheel in any form
Nintendo has such good ideas but are so held back by being like, afraid of online things
Splatoon is a relatively new IP right
Compared to the boomer mario and Zelda at least
Nintendo had the luck also of hiring early some of the biggest geniuses in gaming ever
BotW2 could be the (kill me) breath of fresh air we've all been waiting on for years.
Even look at like BotW and Odyssey, though
Zelda playable in canon dreams
The cap movement feels so good and BotW is absurdly well done
Like. Isn't Miyamoto the most iconic gaming figure ever?
Depends, he's certainly up there
And also if you want good iconic or just notable
Nintendo also had most of the most known and iconic videogame Mascots
Mario, Link and Pikachu
You mean overmilked cows
I think they have the only mascots at this point lol
Sonic left for the Ace
Nintendo is the Disney of the gaming world
Except maybe the Chief
Nathan Drake.
I mean, I guess
Never said he was a good mascot.
Ikr
Cadence of Hyrule was awesome.
That's another good point, I also love that they're starting to let outside devs do new things with their classics
The money off the set in stone franchises goes to new ideas
Like Cadence and Mario vs Rabbids
The west just goes haha no new IP for over a decade go brr
Sadly a lot of countries don't play indies
Does Japan even have indies?
Ouf.
But yea Greece is basically 4-5 games
Not interested.
Inti-Creates is Japan-based
The national game would probably be FIFA
If that doesn't show the degeneracy of this country when it comes to games
Actually Cave Story came from Japan, so they've been in there since the beginning
Also I actually played two great indie games from China last year
Unheard and Hardcore Mecha
Wasnt there some chinese horror game that got almost pulled from steam for mocking the prime minister
You mean Winnie the Pooh?
Yea
Unheard is actually a good recommendation if you like mystery experimental games
Looked into Tyranny btw, unfortunately not 1st person and too magical.
Understandable
The general picture of the decade so far when it comes to games is : AAA is falling further down the hole, and indies are pushing the industry forward
Also Double AA's
Creativity definitely is declining
Having to resort to remaking older games to turn a profit
Well that's a common theme in all cultural industries.
Every big name company and most smaller ones have some absurd levels of crunch and it's uh, not good
Not to say crunch didn't used to be a problem, mind
It's just a lot more visible now
There's been some marginal improvement on crunch
Reminder last year was Telltale's catastrophic fail
But if you want an example of crappy management, TLOU2
What do you mean by crunch?
Ah, okay.
Telltale actually managed to saturate the market where they were the only competitor
As a deadline approaches, just a metric crapton of overtime.
Also crappy management
It sucks, because the last couple of Telltale works were actually starting to get really good
Batman Season 2 was wonderful
Management
When you get boomers that haven't played a game as CEOs what do you expect
Or any CEO with no experience in the games industry
They have an MBA, they know everything.
Also their engine was horrible
The only serious competitor Telltale had was the LiS guys
Yeah talk about bleeding an engine dry
Technical issues can be resolved if you throw enough money at it, can't say the same for management
Actually almost no money needed LMAO it was pure ego
I don't know if that or whatever shambling husk Fallout is running is worse
Their trick to salvation was as simply as ||Buy an Unity license||
That led to 200 people becoming unemployed overnight with no heads-up and no compensation
People with kids to feed
Sure, layoffs happen a lot in the industry it's no secret
But that was especially sh*tty
I've been finding myself enjoying games like Return of the Obra Dinn and Outer Wilds more often than other stuff nowadays tbh
Yakuza 0 has been fun as well
It's a minor exception of AAA keeping its character without being monotone over the years
I'm juggling 7 games at the time
I just wrapped up Jedi: Fallen Order, and I'm working on Blasphemous and Nier
Guns of Icarus Online, GTA V and FE Awakening it is for me.
Good to hear Guns of Icarus is still up and running
It is lovely.
-Troubleshooter
-Resonance Of Fate
-Grand Guilds
-Edge Of Eternity chapter 5
-Celestian Tales 2
-Apex Legends
-And R6
It's always sad when online servers for online-only games go offline
The community is going through a minor renaissance.
Like Hawken, or MAG
Mine are
Let's make a Hades Off topic clan, bois and gals.
-hades
-yakuza 0
-banner saga 1
-hellblade
-spyro reignited 3
So I'm leaving it aside until next update
Hawken was a solid little mech shooter that ran into monetization issues later on, and MAG was the first attempt at 128v128 shooters on the console
Same
Real Talk I just want another attempt at MAG
I don't think I ever even used any other mech than the Recruit one
I bet it would do real well on modern PCs
sleep well
I have exams in 1 month yet I'm staying up late and playing hades
You know? My favourite MP games is where you and your team coordinate to man an enormous war-machine
Aaaaaa
Guns of Icarus ships games, et al
Are there more of that sort?
GoI is the only one I know that goes into this direction.
What's the name?
Mmh, what about C'Thulu punk?
Barotrauma is a coop hardcore submarine Game
With traitors and Eldritch abominations
Where there is a dozen of subroles to take on MASSIVE (or not so massive) submarines
That sounds intense. Usually we fail at coordinating 4 people already 😄
It is, but cool as heck
If you wanna fly Icarus again, we will most likely take off coming Friday or Saturday.
Basically there are six classes: Officer, mechanic, engineer, security, doctor and Intern
oh bro i forgot barothuma existed
does it still have a good player base?
God, I'm exhausted
how to work out without ruminating?
Hear a podcast in the meantime.

This one is great too
let 👏🏾 me 👏🏾 buy 👏🏾 Linus 👏🏾 a 👏🏾 Good 👏🏾 Winter 👏🏾 Coat!
Which Iinus? Tech Tips or Torvalds?
the homeless guy Linus, unfortunately
you see, the cost of living in silicon valley is way too high
(the Linus we are talking about: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Linus)
Ok, just understand out of context is difficult to know lmao
@proud flicker I looked up some doom speedruns like u said. It seems they use glitches to skip the entire map?
Yup
That's speedrunning for you.
Also there is a debate on whether or not mouse scroll wheels are allowed in the game.
It's actually super interesting how this whole thing is being approached
I was expecting a doom speedrun to show me optimzied strategies of clearing enemies and what guns etc but it's just not interesting because the gameplay doesn't even matter and it's more about skipping the map
and using mouse wheel to create inhuman inputs
There might be some glitchless ones floating around
Yeah. So that's why there are categories
You can Google Glitch less or 100% run
Which are more or less "spirit of the game" runs
The one where people can use bugs or glitches are usually called Any%
Basically you go fast
Eternal is a particularly drastic example on the level of like, OoT
it just doesn't seem like an actual "speedrun" game
One of the best speedrun that is fun to watch instead of a glitch fest
Civ VI is down to 284 milliseconds
Monster hunter for example is a "speedrun" game. Doom is just trying to do a speedrun into a game that doesn't have the mode or capabiities
Is Celeste
Celeste speedruns are a joy to watch since the game is simple enough while the glitches are not as game breaking as others.
Routing and optimization play a much bigger role.
I think most of the runs done at AGDQ are pretty entertaining, when they're held up by good commentary
The only bad one I've seen was someone running MGRR who for some reason hates the game
I think there's a big difference between going for time and going for entertainment, and only occasionally do they line up
AGDQ runs are usually really awesome or a cringe fest.
TAS runs with good commentary are really nice too
I think about the only actual tip I've picked up from a speedrun is that fully charged Rising Fire one-hits Sigma's first form in X4
Celeste TAS run is my favorite GDQ moment.
Oh God thank you for reminding me of X4
That's my childhood game.
It's for sure my favorite in the X series
And probably the whole franchise
And imo the best entry of the X series
I should play it again. I remember being stuck at the stupid Mushroom stage forever
Very close to 1
Legacy Collection is like, manageably decent
There's some quirks that I didn't run into but some people have had
Also which one is the one with the legendary What am I living for?
Like you can't rebind keyboard controls
Also the insistence on using those absurd smear filters to make sprites look vectorized
Toggleable, thankfully, but on by default
Wait they try to apply a filter for X4?
Let me grab a screenshot
I love Fallout Anthology run this winter's GDQ
Is that the modern Fallout or the old school strategy ones?
Lol
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised they use he filter emulators uses.
This looks like an xBR filter slapped on top of the original art.
It's pretty popular with the Final Fantasy ports too
hi!
so is there some sort of rule against DMing a dev? I'd like to ask for some tips on making isometric games like SG usually does
I don't see anything in #readme-first but I don't wanna be rude, either
well there is always #ask-supergiant maybe there is something there
or you can wait for another one of these session to pop up and ask said question!
I wonder if it'd get too technical tho
'cos Q&As are usually for players to ask the devs, but I don't know if it's typical for a dev to ask one of their devs
(I never really went to any Q&As myself so I'm honestly not sure)
you can see the history of the qna's in the channel
there's a couple development questions, they're not unwatned
Hi everybody!
Lmao UNO is rn a top selling game on Steam
Hej man dont knock the spanish
welcome
My job is about to open up again 😄
I'm so tired of my connection. The quarantine doesnt allow me to do anything when I go back from work. Sites load for a 1-2min. And its not even 1mbit. 😭 Sad story when the only way to have internet is LTe....
so i just found this kickstarter game, that actually has a demo
"Vernal Edge"
feels like a 2d version of DMC in terms of combat, with a little bit of symphony of the night in there
super good ngl
hope it gets funded tbh
I'm indecisive about what to play now. Where's Albino when you need them?
what are you thinking about playing?
I have these in mind: For the King, Civilization 6, Age of Wonders 3, Halo or Heroes of the Storm
And since I can't decide, I was thinking of someone picking one for me
hmm, honestly, ive only played hots before for overwatch skins LOL
Just like my brother haha
but ive heard of for the king! it looks cute
He was like "please help me get these OW skins" and I was like "Okay. I will also enjoy our sibling time together"
It is charming in its own way
It was free on Epic Games Store a couple of weeks ago, actually
Did you manage to get it?
Aw, well, I think it's also available for Remote Play on Steam
ever since i stopped needing it for hades i dont rlly think about EGS so i forget about the giveaways
i have way too many games to play anyway
I know that feeling too well
I'm trying to not look at spoilers of Pokemon Shield because, it's laying there in my cabinet, but I haven't played it yet
Maybe I should start playing that
Play Crosscode
Oh wow, what's this? I just saw that Gwent was just released today on Steam. I thought it was available already
Apparently not on steam
I love card games so I might give it a shot too
But, I am at its store page right now
I guess they just released it now?
What is gwent like? I've only really heard about it but never played it
I don't know much about it but it seemed like a fun card game in Witcher 3. You have to amass a bigger force than your opponent using siege units, spies, brawlers, etc. Whoever is stronger at the end of a round, wins! And there are 3 rounds, I think
Gwent's a lot bigger and better than in Wild Hunt. Very complex, lots of possible decks and strategies - but you can still win as a complete noob with a starter deck, albeit less often.
card games are not really my thing in gaming (except in The Witcher 3 admittedly) but if you're interested there is not only Gwent - i'm glad to learn its on Steam now - there's also Thronebreaker which is basically the single campaign mode of Gwent
it's said to be a very good game in itself
i'm told if you get it on GoG you get some kind of free stuff in it, but otherwise it's on Steam
I've thought about starting witcher 3 a few times
but it's so huge that it kind of puts me off in a weird way lol
I watched a stream of it and the amount of quests broken by bugs is upsetting lol
gwent has a phone version, so you can always just install it for when there's waiting involved in cooking or smth
i haven't had any issues with quests, and i've never heard of people talking about quest bugs
there is one quest in a one off area where you can win cards for the get all gwent cards quest and if you dont get them then and there (and the npc has a beast deck) you fail the get all cards quest which is annoying
scale wise, i feel like you can shave the length of the game by a ton if you simply go point a > point b for the story
a lot of my hours were just screwing around with the side quests (which are all great btw)
the game is about as buggy as any large scale rpg you'll find
it's on sale for 9 bucks on steam iirc @chilly briar (sorry for pinging ik you're mod)
tldr if you're the kind of person to take their sweet old time with a game witcher 3 could be for you
on the subject of looong storylines
The industry has a big problem with players finishing stories, says Amy Hennig, which has helped hasten the arrival of games-as-a-service.

witcher 3 is really about the story, when the story was over it became very difficult for me to finish the last DLC
it still is, btw, i haven't finished
i liked the swordfights
the potion system is a little monotone/undermined
unless you play on some really hard difficulty where they're essential but still you have to farm for them etc
I still need to give W3 a shot to see if I go 3/3 on being wholly unimpressed by the franchise/studio
its not on the same level with the previous games
I've heard it's scores better than 1 and 2, which is good
i didn't
i have around 20something hours
didn't finish w2 either
haven't beaten it
yea it's a bit too old rpg for me
i got 2 as well on a whim since it was on sale
my backlog of games is ever increasing...
as ours
i'm currently playing well, hades
and yakuza 0
yakuza 0 is fun but another 80+ hour game
i laughed a lot watching someone play yakuza 0 but i'm not that interested in playing myself
looks story rich yea
Nice
oof
i'm at around 30 hours in
and chapter 7
and i still haven't unlocked all the possible side things
and it doesn't feel artificially bloated either, and there's no collectathon types (well, only 1 but it's not that bad the maps are rather small)
it's basicall like this
story: japanese drama about the underworld crime scene in 80s Japan, very serious
literally any sidequest that isn't directly attached to the story:
What was the joke?
We're friends with benefits, as it were, and I made an implication that I only deal with them for sex for the sake of alliteration
lmao i like your summary
@flat prism
oh, well played oceloctopus
you could still offer a reconciliatory sex sesh
well part of the issue is that shelter in place is precluding that option
about Yakuza 0, yea, the story seems quite melodramatic, but the side quests...nonsensical sometimes, from what i saw a while ago
oh, right, there's still shelter. It's not great for separated couples
the side missions are what make the game fun imo
The story is good
Bruh look at cygs pfp its a guy doing the hustle in the middle of a cult
Great yakuza content
"Munancho!"
I like the idea of manly Yakuza gangs doing weird stuff like that
Saw someone claim that I could launch the .exe of my Steam games directly and in doing so avoid running Steam ('cause my CPU is pushing 6 years old and having Discord open simultaneously makes me drop frames). I hope it works.
Good luck!
And Steam launched.
Have you tried offline mode? Maybe that'd help
The program running in the background is the issue.
I guess being in offline may make it less intensive.
Unfortunately, it does not help.
You can launch games from just the .exe files, but sadly only games that aren't heavily reliant on the steam client can do that
Unrelatedly, it makes me so sad that discord is so freekin' unoptomized
Yea discord eats up ram
what if you just had discord on your phone
It has gotten so chilly ❄️ around here that I can now enjoy hot tea pleasantly 🍵
i drink hot tea all day every day
but there is something special when it really warms you up
You feel cozy and... "relieved" would be the way to describe it?
Hm... I'd say the fruity kind. Peach tea is one of my favorites hehe
I like to drink more bitter ones when I'm eating sweets though
i'm really into earl grey and similar styled teas
I also like to drink chamomile tea during the night because I read it helps with sleep
esp the ones that are good for no milk
people say chamomile is calming
same with valerian
i'm not great with milk teas
too used to asian style
I tried milk with tea once. It wasn't my cup of tea 🥁
If anything, I prefer to add honey to some teas I drink
Other than that, just some sugar or even just as is
not a fan of honey in tea or coffee
it's flavour is too distinct for me
is great in milk though
Milk with honey 😮
It never occurred to me but I will have to try it out one day
I do have all ingredients so I will do that later during tea time ❤️
i hope you enjoy it then
Hot milk with honey is great
Tea with honey depends on what kind of tea
Its good in mint tea, otherwise I feel it clashes
will do
no, but i have put peanut butter in instant noodle soup before
...did it taste good or bad?
peanut butter noodles can be good, so good?
i wad just imagining milk in instant noodles today 🤔
Is that a south east asian i see
i love this emoji´s
yehr ^^
(I thought that man in the picture was Grant whoops)
So I finished Blasphemous last night
It was good, didn't catch my attention like, say, Hollow Knight, but solid overall
Really good looking art, if absolutely disgusting
maybe its because its not utilizing the pixel art's charm
they made it so realistic that its kinda
not pixelart
it's intended to be gruesome as a reference to religious art right?
from what i saw of it the style was pretty on point
Its amazin
not satanic, as much as trying to scare people straight
at least that's how the mediaeval people thought of it
maybe its hitting the same spot of something thats not scary being scary makes it extra scary
like children dolls
and babies
Oh I think it looks fantastic
But disgusting
Because that's the source they're pulling from
I don't know if I'll come back and 100% it or anything but it was a good way to spend 8 hours
maybe i'll grab it next time it goes on sale
has anyone here saw the new song Mili uploaded 10 hours ago
@flat prism it's okay to ping me 😛 thanks! I actually bought it years ago and just never played it because i'm
@wide ember That's a nice song! I just saw that the game with that theme just entered early access
yep, can't wait to commit murder to swing music love the library theme
usually it's a dungeon with promise of gold or power but here it's the promise of books that lures people to their doom
Random question, but as someone who hasn't played any other sgg games except Hades, which one would you recommend first ? (considering i'll probably end up doing them all, but don't know where to start).
Bastion or Pyre.
There's progression in design and gameplay flow through all four of their games, but most especially Bastion->Transistor->Hades, but Pyre is super unique, it's one part visual novel, one part NBA Street.
Haha, well i may start with Bastion then, and we'll look into Pyre another time
Id say bastion is easier to get into
Id also say Bastion
Because I feel Transistor is a slightly better game, so it makes more sense to save the best for last
discord crashing in desktop
You'd think there'd be a more fanart of thesius
you can ship him with anyone and it wont die
I hate Twitch Dashboard Home.
Why doesn't it just go to the Stream Manager? That's what everyone wants anyway.
I'd third Bastion > Transistor > Pyre as a play order
I think there's a natural progression of quality just due to getting used to the whole process that really becomes apparent if you like, run backwards for example
Pyre is so good though.
Hi can i ask SUPERGIANT i know hades is in early access I look through the rules and steam I would like to know. If I am aloud to streaming hades i like to make sure that before i do just in case I miss the rule which say that i can not stream it.
you're allowed to stream Hades, as far as i know many people already stream it on Twitch, that's how i discovered the game
@haughty fog i seen some people got it up on YouTube but i did not know if there was group which aloud to do so i thought it best to check before i do but thanks anyway
you're welcome
I'm sure SGG would love evrybody would do it
As it gets them exposure lol
And It's not like the game is buggy to put off people
Albino! You are here!
True because i am a streamer. I know i am small only a few followers but i like to try a get on the good side of companies and because the game is in early access i thought best to be safe then sorry. Plus i can not wait to start streaming it if i can not right now then i will wait until it fully release only got it yesterday did not come off until 5 hours later lol
@tender cobalt Ye' Why?
I was wondering where you were, that's all
I'm here

a stealth puzzle game
I'm interested. I'll give that a look
Your gaming knowledge sure is unpredictable
It is, isnt it
goes together well in an odd way
i may have added a bit more honey than necessary since it's a bit stronger than the mint
but they both have a similar grassy taste that goes together smoothly
Yup
i think it might be popular with people who like chamomile
oh no
and I feel morally obliged to argue with them as I want to make sure onlookers see what I have to say even though they're acting in bad faith
how about stating your position on the matter then calling them out on bad faith rather than arguing about it?
'The cake is a lie' memes are less stale
isn't it just gross when such large number of humans work together for a bad cause?
Human_History.txt
I sure hope people will gradually evolve into working together for good causes more, like better libraries, free and safe housing, etc.
imagine a day when politicians declare war and all the soldiers immediately quit and neither side fights
The thing is, human societal progress isn't linear.
just start making mandolins and begin to sing
(I was just making allusions to the french song though)
Like, we didn't start fully evil and eventually evolved into working for better and better causes.
Quand les hommes vivront d'amour,
Ce sera la paix sur la terre
Les soldats seront troubadours,
Mais nous nous serons morts, mon frère

Ahhh, cool.
Civilization 6 is free on Epic Games Store in case anyone wants to play it 👀
If so, I'm available for online play
Oh, it would be so lovely to play with you
I actually got it this afternoon I just had to make the joke
You should play some vs AI to get to know the basics before we can play. I don't mind giving tips and tricks
There's plenty of stuff the game doesn't teach you so I had to do research and listen to veterans
Click on it!
It happened to me as well so I just clicked it and it appeared
I don't know why I claimed it on Epic Games Store when I already have it + dlcs on Steam but hey, it's free
TFW you go to a tvtropes page of a game you thought was ok and half the page is basically roasting the game
I still prefer that to when the troper is horny in almost every trope description or trying to make every single character sound like they are mentally ill
Speaking of tvtropes, Civilization has created some of the funniest tropes there
I like Ghandi's tropes the best
Thirstyposting is a way of life
because of that trope, whenever Ghandi is in my map I try to research military first so I can nuke him
ah darn, the delay makes this sounds weird
it's as if thirtyposting over Ghandi is why I try to nuke him
i just saw this last message and not the whole conversation and it was really an unexpected ending
Oh no a mod Hides
you're all under arrest
wanna talk about the new library game
When you read about someone wanting to nuke Ghandi but have no context. I'm dead 😂
Ghandi totally betrayed me that one time, backstabbed me with giant death robots 😔 so I loaded a save and researched nuke before him
(who is @Oli4_VH? the nintendo switch giveaway announced the winner and that's the username)
(I shared the link to that giveaway so I wonder if it's someone here's account)
Oh, that sneaky Ghandi. That's why I never trust him
He converts my cities, keeps nagging me about deterrence...
Ghandi started the nuking first, it's only fair :P
Oh, Civ 6
Ill get it, even if I wont play it because that series is a void that sucks up all free time
it does but it also brings so much fun
am i the only one who didnt realize that tortilla chips are made out of tortillas, and that chips are very easy to make
Nah, took me until I worked in a restaurant.
oh god i'm bad at strategy games
this is why whenever i play with friends we all ally up against the deity AI
its like an anime
the ragtag group of friends try to take down the Demon Seonduk and God Pericles
10 SECOND NINJA X is a shockingly fast, overwhelmingly intense action/puzzle game. In this thumb blistering sequel, the nefarious Captain Greatbeard has kidnapped you and trapped your forest friends inside of his army of robots like some kind of psychopath. Greatbeard doesn't ...

Yeah
Actually I am at 30% space turned into paperclips at the present moment on the second universe
So, end game :)
does anyone have a link to that old fan video of england from hetalia sensually dancing with a skeleton to auto-tuned song?
...What have I been missing this whole time?
it was, um, an interesting fandom back then, especially in japan
Hetalia is kinda weird
it was born from the doodles of a bored student so, kind of to be expected
fanworks used to be called "second time creation" until hetalia fandom codified something called "third time creation"
...I found the video
that is an absolutely bizarre video
it makes as much sense in context
to be fair, it was also a really well-made video for its time (2012)
