I thought it was still semi-perfect cell
Oh, right
Because Vegeta had too much of an ego
Remember how Vegeta almost throws the W in literally every arc after he's introduced.
Vegeta is the Genos of DBZ
Goads Freeza into transforming early, lets Cell achieve perfection, and then falls to the temptation of a rematch with Goku.
Genos is the Vegeta of OPM.
With less "I'm gonna screw the pooch to satisfy my ego."
"You're not beating me to death yet, this isn't enough of a challenge. AH, MY HUBRIS."
Anyway Cale was right I suppose, anime is contentious
Yarp.
And of course, he's always #2 or #3 on the Z Fighters' roster at that point and just... Man, I wish I could stand Super's animation.
Maybe I should try the manga.
Now I feel like an ass just because I enjoy something. x]
DBZ for me is the worst example because its just numbers increasing
Nah, don't.
You shouldnt feel bad for enjoying Naruto
I have my flaws with it
But it has its strengths
And its not like, offensive
Now if you liked SAO on the other hand ...
I can't like SAO at all, why wasn't .hack//wave more popular?
the abridged SAO, on the other hand
Didn't religiously cling to popular shounen tropes like SAO probably did?
SAO abridged hilariously is also just a better story
Because things actually make sense
And they dont even pretent that SAO isnt a terrible game
Abridged animes usually try to approach their source stories with a more critical eye.
Right, but its easy to fall into the trap of just being funny
Except for Digimon The Movie Abridged, but that's just the second funniest thing TFS has ever put out.
Like I said earlier, I don't feel attacked or anything, it's just discouraging to mention something is your favorite and then to immediately have all of its flaws thrust under a microscope in front of you.
I probably wouldnt be very happy if someone showcased Transistors flaws
Sorry, I know that doesn't help.
If they existed
It's cool we're all presumably adults here, I know it wasn't the intention.
Transistor is pretty unkind in its treatment of LGBT characters.
I know
Weve had this before actually, I learned a lot that day
Its why I can see it
Oh, you were there for that convo, cool.
I was being tongue in cheek with the "if they existed" comment
Though I will still defend it as one of my top 3 favourite games of all time
Ultimately everything has flaws in some way or another.
It was my favorite for approximately one years.
Usually when you like something though, you clearly don't tend to focus on those flaws.
Crosscode doesnt have flaws
Haha.
Jokes aside it probably does, Im just not sure what they are
Well, actually.
Oh I got one, Lea x Emilie isnt canon
Wouldn't it be amazing if I proceeded to write up a bunch of flaws about it
I don't even know what it is
PC or console?
A Pixel Art isometric JRPG set in a VRMMO called "Crossworlds"
Both
Its even gonna have a switch version at some point
But that ended up taking a long time because its made in Javascript
And its still not done
I'm checking its website out and they failed to use an Oxford comma where it was appropriate so that's a hard pass
Nah it actually seems interesting.
Theyre germans
I'll add it to my wishlist
Our english is decent
Someone talking Crosscode and not inviting me π
But sometimes we make errors
Hahaha
It does but I can just buy it straight out
I like pixel graphics a lot
If the option is there, why not
Spoiler ||Lea x Emilie is Canon and will duel at dawn anyone who disagrees||
I wish Secrets of Grindea actually got the development it deserved but now it's just stalled
||Ok but jokes aside, the Lea and Evotar Schneider pairing is actually so adorable that I do want it to stay canon||
||Emilie and Lea also have chemistry, but it does feel more platonic||
Sir, I hope you bring your own duel pistol
Slaps π§€
Ive got a BFG, does that work?
Ye'
Its funny though that the game already has a carefully crafted pairing that the developers intentionally strongly hinted at
And the fandom just decides to ship Lea with Emilie anyway
Sir, this the internet, we ship even characters in different mediums
Shipping is an interesting thing.
True I suppose, and Emilie and Lea do have chemistry
when living ships are involved shipping becomes very interesting
I'm almost afraid of what a living ship is
When shipping goes beyond the boundaries of fiction then it becomes uncomfortable to me.
Maybe its referring to actual living ships
Iunno
The body is explicitly an extension, the body didn't have a sophisticated enough computer to house EDI.
She's a sapient ship, as are Culture Minds, but I've tried to read two Culture books and they were opaque.
I was thinking of living flesh ships but sentient metal ships also work
maybe house her in a custom Geth Prime
Like, shipping my best friend with a girl we both know?
She was able to experience sensations through the body tho wasn't she?
Ooh, I think so.
I don't blame Joker for his attraction
Unfortunately, finding out for sure would involve playing that horrible campaign so I'll just say, sure.
EDI is ||thicc||
Frickin'............. Mass Effect 2.
I have an extremely volatile relationship with that game.
I kind of want to date https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zJsGzUnWgJDPPzUZ7nz8A7.jpg
(well, for my character to date)
Ooohh, like a biological being that can survive atmospheric escape, re-entry, and vacuum.
Thanks for reminding me that I still need to get the friggin Egg for a Living Ship in NMS
Plus there's a frigging giant mech suit now
Ever since Star Fox Assault I've wanted General Pepper's jet fighter mech.
I've been a mech fan forever
Do Transformers count as mechs
If so then I have too
But if not then I wasn't one until I saw Gundam
I'd say close enough
but yeah, piloted mechs were always my jam
friggin' Escaflowne
did someone say Escaflowne
I've been seeing a resurgence in Gundam figures at stores around town here
I miss that show
I'm going to end up buying them all
I used to do so much gunpla
dragon heart powered mecha was so unique
Well, considering you'd be better giving a dragon power armor if you weren't going to anthropomorphize...
Yes, I would like Iron Dragon, please.
in gundam there was a horse that was a gundam pilot so I want a dragon-shape dragon to pilot a mecha too
like, not even talking horse, a regular though intelligent horse
I also want a traditional dragon operating a mech suit built for a traditional dragon.
They're intelligent so why not
It would be a huge mech
should look more dignified and awsome
this is the horse mecha btw: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/gundam/images/9/97/126610.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20111121174226
can still have the handsomeness of a sport car
Sol, was that G Gundam?
A dragon with a giant rail gun is still awesome
and escaflowne had this, though it was piloted by spoiler https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/escaflowne/images/6/6a/Rightside031escaflowne.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/340?cb=20140525232911
Fuunsaiki? yes from G Gundam
I would like to see a snek mech
That's probably easier to find images of
Since no limbs
Eastern style dragons in mech would be also cool
snakes piloting dragon mecha to have arms
sans dragon
LOL
The second picture I posted is kind of an eastern style dragon mech
I like the MG Blitz Gundam.
Absolutely legendary scene from one of the best Gundam OVAs.
I really want to get some figures and maybe even to kitbash
oce your first video disappeared while I was watching it
That was Geara Dogo right
I'm not a huge fan of the super ~Aesthetic~ Gundams
Nice!
Liking mecha and not liking titanfall is valid but y'all on thin ice tho
HA.
I love Titanfall, but I think I was still in anime/TV show mode.
Can't believe we got friggin' Apex Legends instead of Titanfall 3.
Oh man
I would watch the hell out of Titanfall TV show
I suck so much at pilot combat
See, I much prefer pilot combat (high octane FPS with lots of movement and room for player skill as opposed to sighting a doorway for half a game? Yes please.) but BO3 is a bad game through and through on PC and Infinite Warfare is dead now.
Titanfall 2 was a really fun FPS experience
I like titan combat a whole lot because it feels more about positioning
whereas like, pilot combat is about almost pure reaction speed
I loved the movement.
me too I was just crap at it :<
F
You can carry a lot more reliably in pilot vs pilot than trying to turn a game around after the other guys have three Titans.
I skipped 2.
I skipped 1 lol
I don't know why, I didn't even play another FPS during that time.
TF2 was super fun
I almost skipped 1 because I was getting super tired of shooters and MP games in general, but I played one match during the beta and was immediately hooked.
I think theyre still gonna make TF3, arent they?
Also I never got to play Titanfall
I imagine I wouldve enjoyed it even though I would be terrible at it
I suck at aiming
Even in Planetside 2, the one FPS I play a fair bit, I basically can only play snipers and only on enemies who move predictably or better yet, not at all
oh god I loved planetside 2
I mostly specialized in driving sundies and galaxies
Logistics ahoy
I play exclusively sniper infiltrator
I tried SMG, sucked at it
Although I do sometimes just go on power knife sprees
People have a surprisingly hard time dealing with a knife-wielding maniac running at them
The only time I'd ever play infiltrator is when NC or TR had the crown and there was fighting in a neighboring sector
so I'd fly my scythe in real high and drop on top of the crown with the parachute thing
and snipe people from on top of the crown with a silenced sniper
As I said, I just suck at aiming
So being able to retry while being safe is helpful
Though Sniper battles are also just fun
that's the thing though
all their snipers would be on the crown facing one of the neighboring sectors
and I'd just be sniping them from on top of the crown's tower
because they'd not be moving
But yeah, somehow despite playing video games for at least 15 years, I still struggle with dexterity and aim
I cant do fighting game combos either
I've been playing rivals of aether(smash brothers clone) with a friend of mine
a lot
and like, practice definitely helps because i never thought I'd be able to deal with like, 3 frame inputs and stuff
Believe me, practice isnt my issue, I played fighting games a lot
Its just that whenever I try to go for a combo I kinda just start mashing the buttons clumsily
I can do simple stuff like a couple Seth loops in BBTAG
And I still am able to do like counter moves
But actual combos are a pain
I guess Im just ... impatient?
See, you can do FGC, I can do shooters.
Ehhh, I cant really do FGC either, Im like the highest part of low level at best
I just enjoy them regardless
Its how I learned to be fine with losing
I can't even do basic strings, just autocombos if the game has them.
Well what Im doing is just a step above that
Its basically "autocombos then press one different button, maybe 2"
I guess at least with shooters you get matched with equal skill level players
Why the heck there is a Hello Neighbor TV Series?
- The IP holders wanted to make a TV show or 2) The IP holders thought they could make more money off it.
Oh the new legend looks interesting
Cat burglar archetype
Wonder what her abilities are
Still, pretty bruh moment
(as of 2 years ago max gladstone apparently only earned 48k a year)
(that's so little I hope it's more now)
Beer is tasty
I prefer beef
beef with beer
Brown beef of various varieties and textures and then deglaze your pan with beer.
Finally got around to watching the Sonic movie and it's genuinely good
Thank God they redesigned it
Right?
I know it wasn't, but if it had been a whole publicity thing and intentional that would have been 4D level chess stuff
Agh, there are so many movies I could stand to see.
Detective Pikachu, Deadpool 2, Incredibles 2, Knives Out, Sonic.
Rise of Skywalker was obviously the biggest.
In case you are curious
-
X-Men: Dark Phoenix, total loss- $133 million
-
Terminator: Dark Fate, total loss- $123 million
-
Cats, total loss- $114 million
-
Gemini Man, total loss- $111 million
-
Missing Link, total loss- $101 million
Same.
I'm not surprised gemini man was such a bomb. Can you imagine the cost of cloning Will Smith and then paying him a Will Smith salary?
Excited for future installments because Daniel Craig's character is amazing
Wish I'd seen it instead of Star Wars.
Haha.
I'm still glad I saw Star Wars, as disappointing as some (most) aspects of it were.
Daniel Craig smugly smiling as he got just in time a new franchise character to do after Bond
Everybody in the film is great.
Still buff
You can tell they had fun making it.
It's like the most Wes Anderson non-Wes Anderson film I've seen too.
The house that it takes place in for the most part is such a character in and of itself.
I'm just glad an original IP movie was successful for once
Facts.
I was also glad to see what might be considered a tired formula subvert my expectations.
Also Missing link failing hurts me because I freaking loved Kubo
Although Kubo was most appealing
As it didn't look as generic
It was a flop not a bomb
It just barely broke even
Well that's good that it didn't lose money, at least.
Yeah
It lost it in cinemas, they broke even thanks to VOD and video
Also seeing the guys do an scene is jaw dropping
So I'm watching tales from the loop
It's interesting
You would think that odd things happening would be a little more commonplace, ep2 ||oh, we switched bodies, that's cool, time to go to the loop I guess||
loki yes
Loki meh
loki is generally very overrated even if he is a fun character donβt @ me
yeeee
do you guys know if hearthstone is worth getting into? Like is it possible to have a good time as a beginner without paying for packs or at this point is it only veterans?
Well
You can have fun as a beginner, but you wont be getting any of the good decks for quite a while
And you will always be more limited, especially compared to those who pay
Hello ppl. I'm writing this movie about a poor kid in the middle ages that finds Death (in the form of a young girl) trapped in a secret room in a chapel of a sociopathic priest.
I have two questions:
- If you see this description for a movie, are you getting curious to see it?
- As a sub-theme, I want to have this little conflict between Christian and Greek religion. What is interesting for me to read and do research for in terms of Greek religion and mythologie about death?
When writing this question I just realised how much of an influence Hades has been on this idea lol.
Death as a little girl reminds me of SCP at first sight
they sent the agent a gun and he shot Death to... um, cessation of existence? and nobody could ever die after that
Not sure what that is tho. I'll look into it. thx π Also, you made me realise something that I have to change a couple things in the log line.
hey long shot does anyone here know about growing lemons
this is the SCP: http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-3448
@wide ember Ah ok gotcha. Thanks!
I've never grown lemons but apparently you need to sprout them inside, grow them outside, then bring them inside if you want?
and since they like nitrogen, maybe planting some beans in its pot could help?
beans is a good idea ty
speaking of bean mine is having mildew, time to mouthwash it
Oh black Skylands seems like a legit game by the demo
I do like feeling like a bird sometimes though
those childhood vertical shooter games tend to use this perspective
that reminds me of was it arma game? Which had this interesting "seagull" view point, which put you into body of seagull flying around
although it was buggy, I was found of way of spectacting.
I bought assassin's creed origins solely for the ability to play as the bird
Me: I wish for more Berserk chapters soon
Monkey paw: K
Pandemic makes idolmaster to cancel events
@blissful charm There's plant food you can buy that's soluble in water and very nitrogen rich, a single box can last you over a year depending on how many plants you have.
I just got some snapdragons, blueberries, petunias, hula berries, lavender, catnip, and basil to plant today.
The first four are established already and I need to germinate the rest.
As sol said, you can sprout the lemons inside then move outside but if there's no frost where you are you can also just start them outside.
I planted sunflowers about two weeks back and they just all finally shed off their shells today
Super late response but I had a productive day, so.

@toxic steppe thanks for info!
What third person shooter has the best gameplay overall?
Resident Evil 4?
Control?
Vanquish?
Mass Effect: Andromeda?
Gears 5?
Does Nier: Automata count?
I haven't played Vanquish on PC, and I haven't played Control or Gears 5, but I'm surprised RE4 is even on this list.
Andromeda is the winner for me.
But I'd put ME3 above it.
I misread a bit.
I wouldn't consider Nier a 3PS.
Near a tomato plays around with camera angles a bit doesn't it?
Yeah, it does.
It's always third person, I don't remember any first person sequences.
But it does go 2.5D and there are the occasional shmup sequence.
True.
Anyone else?
army of two and army of two: the 40th day where pretty good from what I remember
Most of the big third person shooters are slow and cover based, from what I can see.
It can't be that hard to spice up third person shooter combat and mobility.
Maybe increase the speed of your character's strafe?
Allow them to actually jump with some height?
Twice?
mmhm, RE3R seemed to do well with increasing speed of combat a bit especially with the dodge mechanic (but keep in mind I mostly watch speedruns of RE3R)
Andromeda was a movement in a nice direction with jumping and dodges for all characters, but the execution was significantly worse than 3.
@faint panther Control outright lets you fly.
It's super fast, super mobile and super agressive.
I saw the first gameplay videos for Anthem and went "WHAT." and then the game came out.
Just let them make an Iron Man game.
Really, Remedy games seem to mostly be, on a gameplay level, interested in translating the insane speed and mobility of an arena shooter into 3rd person.
He's retired in the MCU, we can get a voicealike, Anthem was quite close. A straight-up choices RPG would even be a cool way to explore Iron Man's darker side.
They've made Control, Quantum Break...
I'm bored i suppose
Oh, wow, they did the first two Max Paynes.
Wasn't Anthem kind of a mediocre schlog of an actual game?
Yup.
Also, crap, Warframe at least partially plays like a super fast, super agile third person shooter, doesn't it?
It was close to the Iron Man experience, I mean.
At least part of the appeal is it's insane mobility tech.
I haven't played Warframe in 7 years but I've seen some recent gameplay and it is fast.
As for the Iron Man game, just hire John Favreau as the lead writer.
EA and Disney are already buddy-buddy for Star Wars.
Get Matt Fraction or an actual comics writer instead.
Anthem did several things wrong
For one, the loot is useless
That's fair.
MANY games nowadays have that "loot is trash" trope
See, why not just make a game not based on loot, then?
You just got some "rare" weapons that are weaker than your current gear, now sell them for a feeble amount
Because then you've lost a microtransaction incentive.
Or getting consumables when the game doesn't benefit all that much
In some JRPGs you either get very little loot, our you are showered in several items
Like for example Octopath
In that game most items have straight upgrades, but several unique ones have these big stats with one "but*" at the end
Anyways long story short nobody likes getting stuff just to throw it in the trash
Ooohh, Control is inspired by the SCP Foundation.
When did that pop out?
Pardon?
Like how did you suddenly think "Control"
Sorry i'm not 100% what the convo is about yet
We were talking about it earlier and I had the page open on Wikipedia.
I just like to talk about games
Well so uhm
I just bought Strange Journey
I played it for what feels like 12 hours so far
Started on Expert, gotta say i'm not dissapointed
SMT games are too hard for me.
And with that, I must say good night.
This is a video review and critique of CONTROL, a mind-bending third person action title from Remedy. It looks deep into the uniquely strange vibe of CONTROL's world, along with its uncanny similarities to Max Payne and F.E.A.R. Spoilers Throughout.
=========================...
@faint panther wait noooooo π’
ni ni Schpoon
Wanna talk to me instead, Net.Ray?
Video games.
Specifically, what you think the best third person shooters are, and how you'd expand the genre.
I like fast, acrobatic shooters, bear in mind, so I'm obviously kind of biased.
Oh okay so
Third person shooters are on an odd spot
Nowadays over the shoulder is seemingly the go-to for virtually every new game that doesn't fall into a new genre
First we must think about the advantages and disadvantages of third person games
First off, ranged and melee combat are both consistent
So combining them both is much easier in third person.
Yeah, for example TF2
Second, you can much more easily identify and track the motions of the player character.
This is why melee action games use third person, and why Tekken uses fairly close up 3rd person.
Using awareness as a "tool" for a game is also a deciding factor
Alongside Soul Calibur.
Tekken uses third person because it's a fighting game
Because being able to recognize your own movement in these games is important.
Every fighting game does it because it's part of the balance, to make both players share the same screen
True, Net.Ray.
In a fighting game, having both players be on equal grounds for technical elements is key
For example one of the things Tekken does very weird is some odd combos that only work on P1/P2 side
I'm planning on creating a third person shooter fighting game of a sort.
Is why I'm asking.
Well making games is though
But also, what are your first disadvantage and second advantage?
To get back to your original point?
Well, disadvantage is that it can be somewhat chaotic
For example, in some games the bullets come out from the character's weapon into the target
In others, it's from wherever the camera is in a straight line
This can make cover and peeking interact in rather "interesting" ways
One example of a good third person shooter i can think of is Risk of Rain 2
The game features endless hordes of enemies, and forces you to survive them
Naturally all those enemies mean constant, endless attacks
That's why you're playing in third person, the be aware of your surroundings
However, that is not enough
The game features a move-or-die type of gameplay, and you can't put every living enemy inside your screen
So instead, they use sound cues
Every single enemy and attack have a particular sound effect attached
You can tell it's happeneing and from where in general, allowing you to properly react
This is because awareness goes beyond simple visual cues
Also, a disadvantage that comes from third person games is that the feel playing it has is as strong as what you see
Think of it like this, how would playing Tekken be like if instead of models, you only saw hitboxes?
Now think about Doom, a game that is first person and feels great to play
But the over the top animations are pretty much exclusive to glory kills
That "oomph" is essential in games, but if a third person game lacks the right amount it becomes easily more noticeable than other sorts
@faint panther Does this kinda make sense?
Guess not
they likely went to bed, hahah
https://kidsactivitiesblog.com/137828/digital-escape-rooms/ a fun all-ages thing to do
https://kidsactivitiesblog.com/135637/virtual-museum-tours/ also, some museum resources
anyways, i solved the harry potter escape room in about 20 minutes (got tripped up by the last question bc i suck at maps)
will these escape rooms spend 45 minutes telling me what ice-9 is
while i'm supposedly dying
Only if they also toss in morphogenetic fields
ah, ya, i played zero escape games but it's been ages
Something, something, snails
time really is a rat circle
Welcome back to Eorzea, then!!!
Anyone on Marlboro with a casual company(?) that needs a tank?
"Who invited these children?"
time to learn the new boss fights
"What is this pop band doing in my office"
It also implies that with the exception of Matt Damon there aren't men and women in Mars
I should probably stop the auto renew on my ffxiv sub
does anyone know how to plant and grow mung bean sprouts from the sprouts
I imagine it's the same as other plants, wait 14 days for roots to develop and then plant in bigger pot or outdoor?
not specifically, but i think they'll grow in moist cotton balls
and yeah waiting til the roots grow out sounds good
I've tried to plant the beans directly before but the sprouts always died from dehydration
so this time they are sprouted
finished watching SAC_2045 today, the writing is good, though Mili's ending song freaks me out as usual
it was sustain++;, I'll post it in the music channel
Mili is an awesome band, but the fact that they are japanese and hired a canadian means they manage to get some truly horrifying mood mixed in their songs
the resonance level is also way too high
ty ^_^ listening to it now, I likes
my favorite songs will still be nine point eight and utopiosphere
both of which I've linked in #music
I'm been trying to forget deemo and cytus because those games are so sad
though deemo ending was technically bittersweet? since ||the girl wakes up, I think||
||but there was no changing that the brother died saving her||
and I like how deemo allowed me to collect glow stuff to unlock new songs instead of relying purely on beating existing songs or microtransaction
it was truly free to win, the microtransaction was for non-canon additional songs
||yeah, the girl wakes up, but it's also very sad because she now has to come to the realisation that she has to live without her brother||
deemo is also on the switch, where you get literally all the songs, same for cytus
+_+
it's also on ps4 and plays very very differantly (deemo)
I really want cytus II to come to the switch at some point
I still vividly remember the ending of deemo ||everything was going well, then got hit by a metric tonne of feels with the ending||
and ||the song was empty/silent for a long while, then suddenly there was one note||
||and with that one note, feelings||
it really delivered the "this is the end to this story" feeling
mmhm definitely, I really love the recursion thing in deemo, more stuff to unlock and ||after the 4th time finishing the game you unlock marigold, which is very grandiose and light hearted compared to Fluqour, but also serves as really good contrast to both magnolia and myosotis||
||wait what 4th time? I've only done the recursion once so no wonder I've never heard of that one||
gotta play deemo tomorrow, maybe
I'm still laughing over how "call me mommy, just like your fantasy" lyrics overlaps with the team mom Batou's face appearing in the ending animation in the meantime
Batou is the ultimate anime mom, he's honestly my favourite character
@wide ember oh is it something you'd recommend watching? or is only so-so
I highly recommend if you've already watched the previous shows, but only so-so recommend if you haven't watched the previous shows
because it starts in media res in a way that a newcomer to the series would feel totally lost
if you are really fiction-smart and can read and absorb the overwhelming details as fast as they throw at you, then I also highly recommend
it's best to watch the 1995 movie first to get an idea, then dive into this one, I'll see if I can do a ghost in the shell marathon here
I killed the god of toilets AMA
why
Ok, new game recommendation
'Whispers Of A Machine' was cool af
If you like detective stories in can be of your tastes
I still need to play that
@wide ember I've seen and loved the original 1995 ghost in the shell, but haven't seen Stand Alone Complex, I can't find anywhere online to view it
@fervent zenith I got that game as part of a twitch prime free game, I haven't started yet but it seems really cool. Also if you liked that game I recommend you to check out the game "Technobabylon", it's a sci fi pixel point and click set in the 2080s
it's a detective story too, so you might be into that
Ok I'll take a look thanks
Well, you could buy SAC on steam, but its kinda pricey
I dont think its on any legal streaming websites
wasn't it on hulu?
No idea
FF7R spoilers: ||I missed the full "beating destiny" sequence the first time I watched someone play through. This is not good.||
||My guess is still that they will subvert it. For being arbitraters of fate, the whispers kept messing up the timeline too much||
||Also Aerith is waaaay too shady||
||FF7R has yet to beat Destiny on sales but it's getting closer||
||Something something clouds & squalls yada yada||
||theyβre totally gonna go for an animesque clicheβd beating destiny lol||
||Poor Destiny, he just wants to do streams||
@hexed hollow yeah, it's honestly so cool they've done sales on the full dlc suite recently
i remember when they added rin and sagar alongside one of those promos
i had most of the dlc at that point, but i still got a nice sale on them because of it
Mmhm, i remember buying cytus II when it first released but my phone was a potato then and couldn't run it
i got into it around uhhhhh
a few weeks after ivy was added i think
one of my coworkers at the time recommended it to me
Niceu ^_^
I got into rayark rhythm games through a good friend who is insanely good at them, started with deemo and binged through that in a few days
niceeeee
i played a bit of voez before getting into cytus, but cytus was my go-to commuting game for the longest time before everyone started working from home
Niceu, I've only played a small bit of voez and the song selection seemed a bit weaker overall compared to deemo or cytus
yeah, and the fact it isn't optimized for iphone x was a bit annoying too haha
For me i think the songs of deemo and cytus fit so much more thematically to the games they're in as well as their stories that help tie the songs to the narrative as well
I really like how cytus II incorpoerates glitched songs into story progression for example
Oof that sucks
Neko is awesome, there is no character so far I don't like
I have not watched his video and I will not comment on other's opinions.
I guess it's not as negative as I'm portraying, you're asking my take on the validity of Dunkey's take, but I really haven't seen the video.
Yeah, most of the people I've spoken to aren't being terribly charitable.
At this point I think I need to put 100 hours myself into it before I talk more about it.
It can be tough to differentiate satire from serious points on Dunkey's vids tho
Was it a dunkview?
Yeah
From the few of those I've seen I think those are almost purely serious discussion.
Exactly.
They exaggerate stuff about the game, but NEVER in a way that's "wrong"
Except maybe on Octopath
Where dunkey completely ignored the main mechanics the game was built on
I've seen a few ZP like that, that seemed to miss the point of a game or they were being intentionally obtuse about gameplay and he ripped it for it.
Like, I don't know, ignoring Hammers in Hades and then complaining that weapons aren't powerful enough by the end of the game.
to be fair octopath is like a boomer jrpg like ion fury is a boomer shooter
I assume the 3DS is recharging yet again
Peach i have gamed a lot
That means yes
Also i tried to fuse a dang demon just to ive up and use a password instead
I'm still wondering, are passwords cheats or not?
Oh man, gamers are just the worst human beings on the planet for their given conditions.
If it gives you an overpowered demon in the current stage of the game you are in, I suppose so
Reading about Ion Fury and the "Controversy" about bigoted remarks from devs and messages and images in-game, and when they were removed because that stuff has no place in a video game, the game was review bombed citing censorship.
Uh, what?
Also i just used a password because a quest asked me to yeet specific demons
What's ion fury and why did it get bombed?
Like... bigoted remarks?
Homophobic messages hidden in the game IIRC
Uh?
Then it's not cheating because that part of the game is really annoying @odd grove
They removed that, and then the game got reviewbombed because "censorship" or some such rubbish
What?
Oh right, let me take it from the top
Is it some of those "the bad guy in the game said a bad thing!!!"
Like for example, this villain says he loves to eat babies and everyone should do it
Well no, they were hidden messages
In essence, yes
They also walked back their promise to remove the content, by the way
But what was it, even?
Homophobic slurs.
I think that sort of things ranges from "dark humor" to "boomer humor"
No.
The f slur specifically
Im not going to type it out, but you probably know what I mean
French
Also the devs turned out to be bigots themselves, but thats a different story
But yeah this whole "oh no, its censorship!!1!1!" thing always grinds my gears
Especially because when you have actual censorship
Yeah nine times out of ten it's just people wanting to get away screaming slurs scot-free
"We should be free to say whatever repugnant thing we want without consequence."
Like yknow, LGBT characters being cut in russian or chinese releases
Those same people have no issue with that
No because that's putting politics in muh video games
That one also bothers me
Because video games are famously an a-political genre
Yknow, apolitical games like Spec Ops the Line, the whole Metal Gear series
I hear that one more because they're putting characters who aren't Nathan Drakalikes as the lead or in most any prominent position, usually.
Bleeding hell even JRPGs have political messages
I think the best one I saw was claiming Bioshock wasn't political
Yeah, the racial messaging in Tales of Symphonia got to me.
Uhm, you know...
I kinda feel you're giving too much time to hating people who just seem dumb to you
It's just not healthy to focus all that much on that, i'm just saying
I dont hate people
Well other than Nazis but then again who doesnt
Its just you see this a lot
And it gets annoying
People can say "games are political" or "games shouldn't be political" but both statements are right
In the end it's about who makes that game
So people who claim Nier isn't political, what's your take on them?
Like, look at the deep religious, existential and social themes featured in Megaten games
Right, but the notion that including a character that isn't white or male as the focal point is "political" is ludicrous
Yes
And the fact that its usually the same people who enjoy games like the Metal Gear series
That makes it even worse
Its a kind of hypocrisy thats just blatant
That's pretty silly... But, i think the real issue is that the connection between the two sides isn't as good as it could
I also ascribe to the idea that art, including games, is inherently political by nature, but that's a discussion I don't have the spoons to give or have
I'll be honest... people just pay too much attention to secondary tags on people
But yeah there is nothing "political" about having a main character who isnt a burly white guy
They should look for something more intimate to relate to, in a more emotional level
As far as story goes, that is
I mean I would argue against that idea since you can have art that is apolitical, but if you mean that the art is shaped by the artist, who himself is inevitably shaped by his own beliefs, including political ones, thats something I would agree with
That's along the lines I mean, yeah
I feel like fighting games like tekken or guilty gear do those things well
They add characters and fill them with personality, trying to make them from different backgrounds and personalities
There is a case to be made that there is still a certain uneven distribution in terms of design
Every character proves itself to the player, and it's honestly amazing
Like male characters being wildly different in terms of body build while female characters fit into 2 categories
And the uneven distribution of fanservice
In fighting games
Though its gotten better
Tekken fanservices everything
I still find it hilarious that with every instalment of guilty gear, Millia Rage wears more clothes
Skullgirls is wonderful but boy does it have All Those Problems
I really like Millias new design tbh
It was odd for me at first
I mean the one game thats better about this is P4A
Because they just wear school uniforms
Because Millia's design is the ONLY ONE that came from a pachinko game
I was excited about that Gran Blue action game coming up until I saw a bunch of the character designs in Versus.
And became the main one
Actually UNIST is pretty good about this
I'll be honest, I thought GBFV was going to do Ladiva dirty, but giving Arcsys and the parent company (whoever owns Granblue) credit, she's handled remarkably well past the incredibly early content
There is exactly one female character I would call fanservice-y
And even there its not like full-on Litchi from BB
I mean tbh
Mori just loves his anime tropes
Also, he tried to make both Nanako and Dojima playable characters in P4A
Atlus, confused, turned him down
Mika is basically wearing a swimsuit
Isn't she supposed to be the happy go lucky kid with negative IQ?
That does not have much relevance to her character design
I just... don't see anything wrong with it, not even in a fanservice way
But yes
Exposed navel ain't really new in fashion
Again, its basically a swimsuit, on the youngest character in the cast
Its not as bad as some other examples I can think of
But its not good either
Well, that's japan for you i guess
Unfortunately
I feel you would love Strange Journey
The ultimate social commentary in any SMT game ever
Puts Persona 5 to shame several times
Possible, though Im not a fan of that gameplay if Im seeing it correctly
It's a dungeon crawler
I mean, P5 is also usually considered the worst of the three modern Personas, so I feel like that's not a high bar to clear
The encounters are "random"
P5 focuses more on society
Weakest, yes
Ah, combat
But given that theyre all pretty good
That doesnt say much
Even Phys ones
For what its worth I do think Persona 5 is the weakest one, largely because the story at the very end kinda falls apart a little
Probably has the best overall cast though
P5 literally loses everything past the first palace
Because it's doomed to fail in story due the persona formula
It's always like this
You beat a big dude, then a new teenager appears, there's no name on the box... but with a huge portrait next to them
That reminds me to a joke about Bigoted gamers
Basically my one big gripe with the P5 plot is the ||bigger bad||
P5 is just wasted potential
||The big bad works pretty well, but then you have a deus ex machina||
For example, they "steal hearts"
I wouldnt go quite that far
My big gripe with P5 is ||No Sae Romance||
Does that mean whoever they stole hearts from, becomes automatically good?
The plot falls apart at the end, but only at the end
Why live?
Are they even the same person?
||Sae is like 10 years older and in a position of power||
||Thats too uncomfortable a dynamic||
But you can date Kawakami
The steal hearts is metaphorical, they steal what was corrupting them
Isn't that like, a question several characters ask several times
Which is literally the same dynamic
They steal the medal that made the teacher so bitter on his fall of Grace
So if they steal what was corrupting them, and now they are like "OH MY GOD I'M A MONSTER" that means they will never do wrong again
The only time I saw the "teacher and student falling for each other plot done well is in Persona 3
Mostly because they werent aware and when she finds out she does immediately note how awful this is
The thing is. The guys are such jerks that cause death and misery that it's seen as the best option
It's about a gamer and a gamerette finding love
That's Why Sae and the fanboy don't get their heart stolen
Yeah i know it's symbolic
The culmination to the ||first big bad|| does too
But they sorta lobotomize someone to create a "new person" out of them
But then it feels like the writers went ||wait, what do they have to do now? We gotta shoehorn a fight against god somehow, this is persona||
Yet they don't feel like working more around such an interesting concept?
Thats not how I interpreted it
I mean, they literally question whether this is okay several times
It's just odd
||The igor twist was good, but it leads into something so uninteresting||
The person in question also just happens to cross the Godzilla Threshold every time to justify it
They essentially take a monster and replace it with a broken doll who pays for the crimes of someone who is virtually dead
Again, not how I interpreted it
Theyre still the same person
Its just that the thing thats been gnawing at them quietly was dragged out into the open
I think you are overthinking it
They became aware of the horribleness of their own actions
Hmm, makes sense as well...
They get OVERWHELMED by regret
Yeah
Like you inserted conscience in a sociopath
People can change, too
Society moves on
Net.Ray. p5 acknowledges it
Just that they moved on from that
Some don't get the heart stolen and changes
Man, I wish I could like P4 more than I do
But thats the philosophy of rehabilitation vs punishment
Yeah, it's true
Guys one thing
Punishment is more to set an example...
Personally I wish I could like P3 more than I do
I was talking about C2077 with friends
But the main group youre with are just not interesting
BUT DEMON FUSION IS A PAIN
Junpei didnt become unteresting until the second half
I didnt like Yukari, Mitsuru or Ken much
I think the story being really interesting trumps the characters being interesting from 4, for me
Akihiko is meh
Joseph Anderson made me love P5 even more tbh
Plus I was really let down by how certain aspects were handled
"Protein"
Shinjiro is great but ||you know||
The 'Protein Lovers' gym
I liked Persona 4s story a lot
But I have a soft spot for it because it has a type of villain that I think is rare
I really wanted Atlus to not be cowards about those two
The realistic irredeemable one
But here we are
But alas, Atlus won't allow
Yeah sadly canonically Naoto is either oblivious or not interested
It's just ridiculous why they aren't together
Its never exactly stated which of the 2
They have two different sides of the "same" problem
I don't think Naoto is oblivious. She's an ace detective, after all
P4 has the rare ||fuel Station attendant|| villain
She is very intelligent
Naoto is also canonically a killjoy
That doesnt mean she cant be oblivious
Also people can be smart and love-blind
It felt like they were going a very different route for Naoto's arc and that, in domino, dumpstered Kanji's, in my eyes
She is noted to be not very good at reading people
Can we agree Anne is worst girl?
I literally have a higher than average IQ and can't tell when i'm being hit on
I'm actually glad they aren't dating because friendship~
No? Ann is perfectly fine
Or rather that they didn't go where I thought they were
Ann is like... So unremarkable
Ironically Ann isn't as popular in Japan because she isn't as japanese
Also Ann suffers from "first girl syndrome"
She's as vanilla as it gets, to the point of insipidness
She ain't as bad as Yukiko tho
For that matter "first girl" in P4 was chie, sooo
No but like, Ann is not exactly breaking new ground
Its the "kind and compassionate girl who has good looks but wishes people saw her for what she was underneath her good looks" archetype
But played out well
And she gets actually good character development
Including in her dealing with guilt at failing to stop it
Bruh
You know what I mean
Bruh momento
If anything I found Makoto less interesting in P5
I said ++++ing a shotgun lmao. My apologies
Makoto is just diet Sae
Also every single one of you should play Persona 2: Innocent Sin
Atlus are cowards who won't let me date Ryuji
What about the photographer, the hippie and the doctor?
Though I figure Makoto just has the misfortune of having a bad first impression
Also yes, let us date Ryuji
You mean the reporter?
Ye'
Why date Ryuji when Morgana is a human now
The doctor is alright, but not romantically because no
I call her hippie because she looks like one
Now he's finally useful for something
I have only a slightly higher opinion of Morgana than I do of Teddy
Didnt care for the Fortuneteller
Teddy is better
Also because Ryuji is actually a good guy
And Morgana is just kinda there
Like Ryuji looks cute and all
I vehemently Do Not Like Teddy
Why does Ryuji get bullied by a simp cat again
But his biggest asset is just that he is a genuinely very good guy
He saved most phantom thieves from certain death several times
Ryuji is an idiot but he's a good idiot
He's Yusuke level Epic
Most important love interest here ||https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toranosuke_yoshida.png||
I would argue he has the strongest moral compass of the phantom thieves
Oh hey, thats the best confidant
Reminder: Yusuke lead the investigation before Naoto joined
Yosuke?
Also I would somewhat disagree with saying that Ryuji is an idiot
Ryuju is laid back
He is book dumb, yes
He's brash and passionate, which makes him come off dumber than he actually is
It's not like he can't think he just doesn't bother
But he actually comes up with good plans
And has shown great quick thinking
Anyway the best part is again just how genuinely nice of a guy he is
Yusuke is more of an idiot. He is knowledgeable but street dumb
Meanwhile morgana be like "Lady Ann, i have already made my donation"
Yosuke would be better if he wasn't Like That to Kanji
Or just Like That in general
I didnt like Yosuke much
!?
Same
He is the worst of the main secondary male protagonist
He is a selfish prick
Akechi SUUUUUUCKS
Junpei is a lot better
The dating sim is why you play Persona
no pesky school life
@vivid ridge ^
Junpei literally loved a girl into the good guys
only p o w e r
I love it
How can you hate him
Is "Sounds like toothpaste" a weak start?
I have one issue with Junpei and it's nothing to do with his character or arc lol
that's still going on huh
My issue is that Portable's ending wasn't canon...........
