I like my hero academia but there are some things that I like it in spite of rather than because of
is ID:Invaded at least as heartwarming as AI:SF or not as much?
like, how many father-daughter moments or similar do I get
Zuko to his uncle: Imagine you're stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean and the engine's broken, and it's the Day of Black Sun. What do you do?
His uncle: Iroh
Oh ok its part of the synposis of it
The main character does have a daughter, or rather did
This is just a pun with no real context or accurate characterization.
I have todoroki and midoriya funkos
Not exactly heartwarming?
but does he get another daughter figure like in The Last of Us?
aw
I like how Dad is becoming a subgenre
I don't like how not enough of those have dad jokes
I guess Hades isn't the jokey type.
Nor Kratos.
But imagine if they were.
There is a character who he does bond with, but theyre more partners than father-daughter figures
Imagine Hades greeting a defeated Zag with "Seems you're still a little wet behind the ears" as he comes out of the blood pool.
"Oh, hi, Imnotstayin, Im Dad"
Its honestly surprising they didnt go for that dynamic given how small she is (even though she is actually 23)
But I kinda preferred it that way
Oh hey
I haven't seen the word hexaflexagon in years. @tranquil cloud
I haven't even properly watched that channel, but I love the word.
I love hexaflexagons
It's so nice.
i haven't seen the word flexagon since 90s
I love hexaflexahedrons even better
But yeah, Id:Invaded is less heartwarming and more brutally depressing
Tetrahexaflexahedrons
Does this make it a flex post?
Hexaflexagon is so fun to say

“Weird flex but ok” lol
I was about to follow up
I keep reading Academia as Macadamia, on that note
My Hero, Macadamia Nut Cookies.
I tried it.
wait there is a game? o_O i thought it was a music album
My slow reflexes make Super Hexagon nearly unplayable.
Haha
just kidding
speaking of flexagon and game, do people remember what was the rituals for summoning spirits with them or something?
I don't like those kinds of games much myself
I got pretty good at it
sometimes the inside of flexagons are written to be used as an 8ball, but I remember some girls taking it a step further
Ah those weren’t flexagons though, were they?
maybe I'm mistaken
“Cootie catchers” (ugh I hate that name)
Those were the fortune telling things, right
They were much simpler
Whatever the heck they're really called
Yeah
You write like 5 kids in your class and it predicts who you’ll marry blah blah
Stupid but it was the thing to do at the time
And then there’s me working out the math so I can get it to always land on my crush... lol
I've only saw them from afar so I don't know much, but beside the who you'll marry type there was a game to grant wishes and place hexes?
Pff, nice
now i think of it.. and also about d20s
oh, paku-paku was the term they used, I got it mixed up with flexagon
Was it you I had that whole conversation about dodge chance with?
And I just don't have the motivation to start from the beginning now.
Uh... heck, I don't think so?
It was yesterday so probably not haha
Oh. No.
d20s?
Paku-paku means to flap one's mouth
It was in #h1-discussion I think
That's how Pacman got his name
A very... maybe embarrassingly in-depth breakdown of how dodge chance works
His og name was going to be Puckman
But they changed it because it could be
Changed
Oh. I wish I had read it. I want to know how the dodge shenanigans work.
To y'know
i just think, what if inside of them can be written some game events for tabletop something
...so it's a pun?
paku-paku, chatterbox
Shout out to Scott Pilgrim for that factoid
I like Pac-Man more now that I know his name is a pun
I can write it out in my notebook and share it with you
Scott's first talk to Ramona at the party.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is owned by Universal Pictures or something, and I don't own anything ever, so Universal can legitimately ream my butthole if they are so inclined and I'll still be like "Buy this movie, it's fucking aweso...
Enjoy
Oh, I think this got buried, but...
Again, curious. Anyone else who likes non human focused stories?
I have a hexaflexahedron how-to post somewhere
In case anyone wants to make one
I might make a Hades one
Especially non-anthropomorphic
Like the Warriors series
I like some of the more ship-centric stories in the Culture series
well.. like characters, that are not humans?
Ship as in spaceship
Redwall
Not ship like relationship lol
or like, stories of a country or whatever
Characters that are not humans and ideally don't act like them
Oh I remember redwall
Scott Pilgrim was such a great series
I loved it as a kid
Redwall is amazing
@toxic steppe I like those, but they're not quite the same thing, because they're highly anthropomorphic
YOU'RE HIGHLY ANTHROPOMORPHIC
There’s also Silverwing
I liked Redwell until the sparrow died, then I refused to watch it again
There's a ton of books
especially since she got wounded off-screen
well, there is a difference.. when if they don't look like humans, or don't act like humans
It has people but half the time it’s about spiders
both is good for me
Animorphs
Sunwing
@tranquil cloud oooo I loved the silverwing books
Those books get dark
I should fully read Animorphs
Children of Time is based on the premise of elevating spiders to sentience and then examining what sort of civilization spiders would form
Told over generations
It’s FANTASTIC
interesting
I like generational stories, or ones that take place during a character's full life span.
And with special emphasis on the Ellimist and Hork-Bajir spinoffs...
...
I need to read Children of Time then
Children of Time is pretty great
Yeah that sounds awesome
the sequel is good
The sequel is good too
not as good tho
Yeah but it’s still good
I also need to read Diane Duane's feline wizard spinoff trilogy.
I liked the exploration of the completely different sort of intelligence of the octopuses and the... other thing
Now is the time where I'm obliged to shill for the following books: The Expanse Series, The Imperial Radch trilogy, Memories of Empire and the Broken Earth Trilogy
Broken Earth yes
But some... very triggering stuff right at the beginning and also later in the third book
Oh yeah
My undergraduate thesis for creative writing was an attempt to write myths and legends from the perspective of sapient cats.
Not a happy book
@tranquil cloud spoiler tag what they are?
I want to read the Three Body Problem
Three body problem is OK but I couldn't make it through the dark forest
||the very first thing that happens that causes the entire story to begin is the main character’s young child is killed by her husband||
That's a specific trigger lol
||child death|| is a really common trigger
@tardy ore and i immediately thought about khajiits and their interpretation of existing mythology
But I’m glad I pushed past it because I did like the series
I keep on trying to get this friend of mine to do a sci-fi book review podcast
People kept complaining that the cats weren't following human moral standards.
My response? Double down.
sci-fi/fantasy I guess
I was focused on the domestic aspect and not the dying part
Also the Culture novels, if you like that style of sci-fi
"They're still too anthropomorphic. Time to reduce it."
I didn't really get into the first culture book
A lot of people have that problem but like the others
Maybe see if you can borrow a library ebook
Yo I'll do a book review podcast with you
Ooo, Children of Time is the same author as Shadows of the Apt
I read a couple of those, dropped off but it was cool
Also, I've said this already in this channel, but don't read Cast Under an Alien Sun by Olan Thorensen
I've always wanted to do a pocast.
I can orate well enough and like having conversations.
Cool!
Plus I have a studio quality microphone
@serene tulip Memories of Empire? What author is that
Oh, um, Empire of Silence and the Howling Dark by Christopher Ruoccio is pretty good too
On another note, not xenofiction-y, but has anyone ever read the Vorkosigan books
Those were great and I wonder if she ever released a new one recently.
Empire of Silence by?
Same author?
Oh same
but its good
Ruocchio
Its like, if you mixed Dune and the Kingkiller Chronicle
and its not subtle about that
Totally different genre but: I quite liked the Temeraire books.
Just apropos of very little
The kingkiller chronicle is so strange to me
Because if someone asks me what’s good about it, I honestly can’t answer
lol
But I stayed up until 5am finishing it
Will and Simmon
The first book anyway
The first book I always skip Treben
the second book I skip felurian and sometimes ademre
I'm still disappointed Kvothe hasn't been officially used in raven jokes.
Unreasonably so because it's not a comedy, but man, a stack of cats can dream
I'm about to start this book called The Name of the Wind and another that's part of a series apparently called The Iron Druid Chronicles
How disappointed? Nevermore so
The name of the Wind is kingkiller chronicle
Yup
we were just talkin' about it 😄
Fricking confusing names
Yeah
No one knows the Imperial Radch series
but I say, "Ancilliary Justice" and folks are like, "OOOOH"
Hah
I always thought the whole "female pronoun default" thing waa a little odd, because if you're going without binary gender, why not use neutral?
But I haven't had the chance to even pick up the book, so I can't read it to see whether that makes more sense in context.
So it's just on my hundreds of books long to-read.
Damnit.
Its one of my favorites, if only for its ability to annoy reactionaries
Eh, I don't think that's a particularly interesting factor. I don't read for the people.
It just screws with my "mostly default to neutral" brain
I mean, I feel like the "She" aspect has a lot to do with the male as default thing
Which doesn't make any sense to me to begin with, but inverting it makes the same amount of sense to my brain, just backward.
My mind is internally just "aaaa just use they stop confusing me"
Oh I love ancillary justice and the rest
I just think that she was concerned that an all neutral book would just make folks think everyone was dudes
from your average reader
but hey, again, I'm just in it for the pissed off reactionaries(and Justice of Toren One Esk Nineteen)
In my experience the average reader just blithely plows through insisting that a "they" should be a "he or she".
to think of it, every option is confusing
like, they as if there are many people at once
And otherwise just assumes that the gender of a character is whatever is printed.
or royal "they"
Which does stink. Happened to udnertale and it still makes me wanna throttle people who go "the gender of the main character is up to interpretation!!!" but no
I intentionally used neutral in my cat stories
And got a bunch of people calling it a typo
Lmao
takes too much effort to imagine a non-binary character for some people iin a game about magic, monsters, and souls
This is unrelated af
A disturbance in the force has led the fellowship to the Kyber mines of Moria. A place long thought to be dead. But an evil presence stirs below…
A lot probably don't care, but this took about 5 months to create and it's not monetized. If you could help the video by leaving a...
But holy this editing is amazing
There's only one part in undertale where frisk is referred to by pronoun, right?
Like, right at the very end
@hushed zenith well, it is kind of, because the bait and switch involves encouraging the player to put their name in, right
well, if you're making a story from the perspective of a person without specified gender, and don't happen to see other people talking about the character in 3rd person
then there is no such problem
So the idea was to some extent to play with the trope of a blank slate character in games, to serve as a vehicle for "you".
little short lightsabers
They did a super good job lol
Even mixed the LOTR and SW soundtracks
Seamlessly lol
He turned the rocks they throw at the troll into grenades
really, the amount of super cool things and talented people internet brought to us
That's amazing
is just wow
that would require so much editing
That would be a huge workload though
Haha
The Mines of Moria scene is probably more impressive though
Even Gimli's axes
Honestly, my biggest issue with The Imperial Radch series is that the narrator insisted on pronouncing literally every syllable in every name
@tardy ore Yeah, but there's other characters with They pronouns that get misgendered all the time and it irks me just the same
sorry mid pull, delayed responses
Anaander Mianaai took like 3 minutes to say
Pull?
Outer Wilds has an entire species of gender-neutral characters who all use they/them pronouns
What kind of pull
Also, I don't do audiobooks.
Mild auditory processing shenanigans.
I only do audiobooks :<
I tried as a kid
XIV stuff, just a weekly reclear deal. Anyways, yyeah, it's annoying as heck
Ended up rewinding the tapes like five times every few pages
Still, isn't the canonical status of those characters that they're gender neutral, despite using female pronouns?
Encounter? fight? whatever. But I've seen a lot of people do that with any explictly non-binary characters and it makes me like.. disconnect from fandoms after a while. so shoutouts to Chaos being super cool in Hades
SU? Yeah.
LOL
...dfhdh i got like three different convos going sorry
Do you or do you not like SU tho
Yeah, though it does definitely represent a subset of the community, we're really not at the stage where that's like... recognisable to most audiences.
@tardy ore some of the characters have gender but the narrator doesn’t recognize it
i did that was my bad due to gettign conversations crossed
I enjoy SU but I was a late entry
I don't judge by fandoms because I rarely engage in fandoms.
I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch SU Future yet
Again: I live under several rocks.
I skipped S1, watched all the stuff up to before the movie, then went back.
The stuff I’ve seen on tumblr about it... is pretty dark
sometimes a fandom can look not like what you expect watching/reading the story
or it can
depends
Man devil summoner is a good game
I haven't used tumblr since like 2010
TIL that one of the aliens in The Imperial Radch speries is spelled Presger instead of Preska
I haven't used tumblr since they banned tits
Incredibly honest.
never seen what's the point of tumblr beside askblogs and that ^
tumblr was great for marketing of zines and arts at some point
Ok but seriously
emphasis on at some point
Y'all HAVE to play Devil Summoner
Hikikomori life too stronk
it's the lockdown, it's more mood appropriate to play Devil Survivor
Hey
Seriously
Graveyard Keeper is just being forward thinking.
Devil Summoner has RASPUTIN
I'm playing Animal Crossing
@odd grove Lover of the Russian queen, he was a cat that really was gone?
I have a switch
):
and didn't feel like playing stardew for the 300th time
so I fired up graveyard keeper
@tardy ore Yes, the game literally has Rasputin, exactly the one from the song and the storybooks
I've been playing Hades and started Pyre too
I'm playing Arknights lately. The only gacha game to ever hold my interest longer than a week.
I tried Pyre cuz i got it for free
Because I love tower defense.
same.. don't have a switch, and now with all that stuff with oil costs don't think I can get one anytime soon
Pyre hooked me immediately
Also I know, was just making a joke. And trying to get everyone to have the song stuck in their head.
It's an odd... Sports game rpg?
@odd grove Units are from gacha pulls. F2p friendly though
The characters act like towers, it's a mazing type TD instead of the "place to the sides"
there have been too much arknights in news lately
Few boys but one is coming in the free event this week
Interesting
And he has some blazing hot leather pants, so may as well start now
maybe it's really as good as people say
I wanna see
Boys are gross
:p
Hahaha
It's good
It requires more thinking than whaling
Can clear a lot with the lowest end characters. Only real issue is, the grind to promote is hell and stamina runs out fast.
Perfect for a side thing you play and go do other stuff after though
well, im ok with waiting.. not ok with throwing fortunes in the mobile app
so guess may give it a shot
By the way @tranquil cloud if the offer to write down (or alternatively discord quoteblock) dodge formula is still on the table, I would like that
Yeah, it doesn't require spending. I only have a monthly card, but even that isn't really necessary
my another friend recently bought another lifetime insurance in Star citizen for 35$.. he follows every update.. and already spent money he can live with for a year
i'm not judging
I saw someone whale rage $200 for a single operator the other week.
The same one I got just pulling normally...
but cant understand either
Arknights was reasonable
It didnt keep me interested, the gameplay was kinda eh
But I like the designs
It depends on whether you like the gameplay, yeah
I personally love it for the gameplay
It actually doesnt go for fanservice nearly s much as most Gachas do
And for that.
But also, hot damn the sound design
Whoever their sound team is, they have AAA game quality work
Also the memes are pretty good indeed.
It was just nice to see a Gacha where the female characters have actually reasonable designs
Smh
Got tired of clicker games... Realm Grinder held my interest longest
After the venerable Cookie Clicker, of course.
I like the tig bitty horn girl
Flat is justice :v
Also, ah yes, Projekt Red. Translation team had a ball with this game.
The heels are only in optional costumes, and fairly rare
Proper jacket, proper pants, and proper gear
As in, CD Projekt Red?
Yeah, that's the joke. She's just Red in Chinese
CYBERPUNK HYPE
But the localization had some Fun, because honestly, she's basically half a witcher already.
Now I'm waiting for a cyberpunk skin.
Did you see they reacquired the IP and are planning another Witcher game after CP2077
Yes
Hype
It also has a pretty Tomboy but thats neither here nor there
Apparently there was going to be a Ciri appearance in Cyberpunk but the author said no
I would describe it as reminiscent of the Hungry City/Mortal Engines series.
Then the Netflix show happened and he changed his tune lol
Crossed with just a bit of Stormlight Archive-ish
And set in a vaguely apocalyptic future
@toxic steppe so are we getting her in the game then?
Probably not so directly but I'm sure there will be some reference
She describes Night City to Geralt in TW3
Hah, nice.
If there ever will be mod support for Cyberpunk
One of the places she hopped to
For real though, a new Witcher series but it's Ciri traveling around...
I would like that
guess Ciri will come asap
I never got far...
some kind of Dr.Who or Star trek style?
Always got kinda intimidated by my own aggressive completionism
I've finished it and the DLC
god it's been 5 years already
I need to start while this damn lockdown is a thing.
But I always either forget to play these big open worlds, or fall down the absolutely ludicrous rabbit hole that is "I need to have every single scrap of junk in this world"
same
This is why I stopped following the yearly AssCreeds
that's why i play khajiits.. because of their nature to take everything lying unproperly
these found 100 feathers sidequest.. goodness
Even just focusing story and doing a good amount of side stuff was like 120h of content
Hhhhngh
That's exactly why I didn't get far
I am compelled to follow the Completionist Guides and everything
that's why i play khajiits.. because of their nature to take everything lying unproperly
@mild pelican hey, stop impersonating me :p
Oh. I do the dumbest route
100% while doing story
And end up with zero postgame
"Oh."
"You unlocked the postgame content! It's like... this last three places on the map, because you already hoarded every last one of those stupid trinkets lying around, you maniac"
well, some games never had any postgame content.. so we are cautious now
Bright side? I get to run around finishing the story decked out in the most ludicrously excessive crap I can find.
Hey, some games are still getting the base game added into a future update.
"what if i wouldn't be able to go inside that cave anymore?"
Fallout 76
Fun fact
let's say, best years of life
4 months picking mods.. only picking
Except the damn ending of Tribunal.
My save always broke before the end.
So like 95% of the game not counting the "exclusive paths". Telvanni forever.
yeah
But across maybe 12-20 saves I managed to complete everything else <:
well.. was about to say, that i never defeated Alduin..
I tried with Skyrim
Then my mages guild quest broke.
I'm a mage main.
Level scaling is big dumb though
someone said.. you can play whoever you like, eventually you'll become a bow stealth sniper
I miss Morrowind loot
Pfft. No.
Invisibility daggers
Yes, including dragons
I always felt bows didn't do enough overkill.
So stabbing a dragon in the tail and watching it explode...
👌
kek
Also, the "mods/console only" route?
Torgue approves
Stealth Dragon Shout
You see
If you get -100% shout cooldown...
And pickpocket every equipped piece on an enemy...
You have enough time to do Slow Time+double Unrelenting Force, kick enemies off walls, and recast invisibility.
Can't detect you if they're at the bottom of a cliff.
https://media.tenor.com/images/3374ffd75eabdaaafdc4ff636050b098/tenor.gif
"must've been rats"
I did it in the greybeard robe. Abused a bug to make my head invisible
And to get glowing draugr eyes
I became the screaming phantom of Skyrim
Flying horse console trick too
"Have you heard? There's this ghost thing that shows up, steals people's things, and screams at them until they fall to their deaths."
"Nah, that's ridiculous. There's no such thing."
i tried onepunch build.. when you make an enchanted gauntlet through leveling up enchantment with potions and other enchanted items.. up to god knows how high levels
it's fun to kill dragons with one swing, but takes too much preparation
Turns out, if the quest NPC needs to talk to you first, it breaks the story
Permanent spell resistance... oops
So
What do ya think of games that give you cheats and then say "You are a cheater" and do really scummy stuff because you sued the cheats given to you?
I can't say I've ever played anything like that.
I think it's a dumb move.
The only time cheats are harmful is when they affect other players negatively.
No like
@tardy ore Singleplayer games with cheats
You put on a cheat and then you just... get a trashed on for using the cheats the game devs added?
Yeah, I know. I'm saying it's usually dumb of them to do that.
Like putting in easy mode and then insulting people for using it
Unless it's actually funny. Psychonauts did the cheat thing, but it's just kind of a joke, old man Ford just yells "You cheated!" and nothing else happens
Yeah that's actually cool
Like in this one game you can save and reload to win at a gambling game to get cash
But if you do that too many times the guy you gamble with just... Explodes
Keeping you from further gambles
Then there's Banjo Kazooie which straight up deletes your save file for using cheats
that sounds like.. one of the endings for Nier Automata
How so?
like, you activated a cheatcode.. and then something bad happens.. and then credits
there are a lot of similar stuff there
I mean, that's an ending i suppose?
Omg the conversation about riddles reminds me
We have this kids book of jokes
And my 4 year old can’t read but she I guess tried to memorize the book
But she doesn’t actually GET the jokes so the way she remembers the words makes that super clear sometimes lol
x]
Like there’s a picture of a bull and the joke is like, “what do you call a sleeping bull?”
A bulldozer
Right?
That's a good un
But she’s like... “what do you call a yak who’s sleeping?” (Why a yak??????)
And then....
“A dump truck!”
Hahahaha
Like she just remembered it was some construction vehicle omg
Or she's a genius and understands anti-humor.
And then later there was one, on paper went “what do you call a container full of ducks?”
That's actually a funny joke if it follows the context of the first one
“A box of quackers” is the actual answer
But her version went like: “what do you call a box that has a bunch of ducks?” .... “a duck box!!!”
Master of the unjoke
I've found this ghost in New Horizons twice now
what killed this poor soul and trapped it within the purgatory of checks notes Cooltown Island
So I get that android wk is both concise and ingenious, but what about changing my username to Fermat's Last Beer Run. Yay or nay.
Yes
@fringe sparrow Yeah, was about to say that maybe we should change channels 😄 I recently cut Battle Chasers from my wishlist tbh
Sucker for card games, less for turn based games
Slay The Spire is stellar, though
Also about SWQ: the story's cute and I love all of the characters, but for me there is close to no replayability. There are some challenges in the end, but they aren't really worth it imo, especially because damage numbers are slightly rng-based
I still recommend it, though
Well then I must say that while Battle Chasers have some more replayability, you will probably dont like that at the end if you will not grind a bit to level up all champs (which doesnt level up together, so if you dont some one he can left even with 1lv)
then it will be easier to drop the game ...
as its not fun to level up 5lv champ to 30lv
even when you can go to most hard dungeons with another 30lv (you can pick 3 champs at once )
Yeah, doesn't sound like a thing I'd be fond of
then again I always have this urge of cycling through all characters to keep them at a somewhat even level
Darkest dungeon is real fun and challenging
Pluz if you like lovecraftian themes it's a big bonus
I could honestly never complete DD
Thing is
Sinking city is comming out of epic exclusive in June too
I just don't enjoy the tensions i get from going into darkest dungeons
That's the fun part tho
Are you on the DD discord?
Ask for help there
We are always ready to help
When i was just about to, dismas simply
end gamed himself...
But seriously tho i ain't completing the game
Unlucky then
Yeah, no luck at all
What can i even do to help that some guy just decided to hit himself instead of the boss at 5 hp??????????????????????????
@flat pond
On the first DD dungeon?
Bring a dance party
So it doesn't matter if he shuffles
They can move again so it's not that bad
I recomend

The last one can be changed
I'm a third worlder without access to dlc
graverobber then
https://register.ubisoft.com/child-of-light/en-US
free game! and a very good one at that
Uplay
its also for 4$ from time to time on switch
Ew
its 4.99$ now on switch eshop
Oh Child of Light is beautiful
The OST is amazing btw
made me fall in love with Coeur de Pirate
@deft rapids Is it as good as the Devil Summoner soundtrack tho?
I have no idea, because I didn't play that game
What sort of game is Child Of Light?
@deft rapids !? whoa you gotta play it
I mean it's not a "really good game and absolutely amazing every time"
But rather it's a fun RPG
Solid gameplay, good story
It's an SMT game so that's a certain quality bar
well, I have no PS
I mean technically I could use an emulator, but eh
not really a fan of those
The new Doom is so fun!
ive heard from a lot of people that played it that they love it, it makes me happy to hear
also i got child of light in a steam sale a loooong time ago right after i played transistor, its the only game i have on uplay and its worth getting for it
its just a really beautiful game
especially for free
I want to play Doom but the first level was not great and I've been watching some late-game streams and I don't like what I see.
I want Eternal, although I heard it's not quite as good as 2016
but 2016 is really good
2016 was my favorite game ever until I tried Hollow Knight about 6 months ago.
can the devs please put pandora back in the box? would be much appreciated...
Hollow Knight so good
The music is fantastic too
I have a book of the sheet music
All these games and shows with the most incredible music. I should get a keyboard.
It’s helping me stay sane in lockdown
I’ve started working on Show Yourself from Frozen 2
I'm gonna finish Xcom 2 and get on with Battle Chasers: Nightwar
Quarantine is helping me work through my 80+ game library
Yo net
THE STANLEY PARABLE IS FREE
If you haven't played The Stanley Parable you should.
I used it to get lego batman
Wait
Like honestly
All of them
WHAT
On the batman day
Also the arkham games
- You can run it through Steam if you must. 2) You can run it completely separately from any launcher. I keep Hades on my Taskbar.
I did get the Arkham games, I should play Arkham Knight.
Same lol
Wait
I played arkham city almost entirely
Have you played the ones before
Yeah, I've played Asylum and City.
City and asylum are great
But idk if replayinh asylum
Asylum is good, but City is the perfection of its formula.
Agreed
Thinking of getting origins but idk if it's worth
I mean, i don't like the "edgy gritty" batman tho
Might have that money go to the side for the spiderman sequel should it come out
I liked it more when it's about a weirdo in a bat suit punching a weirdo in a clown suit
But nontheless, good game
Ironically i disliked the catwoman design in Arkham games lol
The Mr. Freeze boss fight. 👌
Imo catwoman just needs the mask to work
I rly liked Spiderman PS4 tbh and I wish more heroes got the batman Spiderman treatment
My pfp says it all net
Good action rpg
This is me being edgy, but I wanna see someone take that combat system and put it in an unapologetically M-rated game.
Raidou?
Yeah
SMT spin-off.
I want a return to form for Paper Mario. Give us a straight turn-based RPG again.
It has a good mystery plot along interesting combat mechanics with the classic SMT formula
Super Paper Mario was wildly underrated
I liked it.
Also i played all of sticker star
It did well with RPG elements with the mostly classic RPG gameplay.
It did so much yet still missed the idea of the paper mario games
I've played nothing Nintendo sadly
Oof
Feels like I'm missing out on a lot
Get an emulator and play mario 64?
Sad to say they keep their IPs on a very tight leash.
They're getting better about their online stores in recent consoles.
Nintendo has a separate eshop in argentina
We buy from their website and they grant us keys
I remember my launch Wii died the day I bought PM64 on the virtual console.
We pay a considerably lower price for games, but they curate and dictate 100% of the games we can buy
Getting better, still not great.
It's awful honestly
Or even good.
I can only get Nintendo games or best seller indies
Honestly, yeah: Get an emulator.
But not a lot
maybeshouldn'tbeadvocatingpiracy
Okay, I don't know if I want to keep doing this NG+ run of Hyper Light Drifter.
Most NG+ feel cheap to me
The general took me forever
actually, I think bird boy was worse than the general
both are harder than the south bosses, who are harder than judgement who is ABSURDLY harder than frog boy.
because frog boy you can cheese by standing on his back left and he keeps on trying to melee you but can't hit you
I killed the Hierophant first on my first playthrough.
what are you stuck on?
It's so good.
The story behind its development is so inspiring
I was stuck on a combat challenge, but now I've got three of the plugs pulled on the north quadrant and I'm continuing on.
stuck on combat challenge
Gets Jodi crystal flashbacks
That took me
An hour
To beat
God, everyone enjoying DOOM and AC and I desperately need my Resident Evil fix
Ye'
Yeah but with that guy following you is a necessary buff
I have like, 50 hours in re4 on pc
RE4 needs a remake
Probably a lot more on ps2 back in the day
My dad was so good at mercenaries
I couldn't keep up at all
RE4 remake won't happen, Capcom makes more than enough money pumping out "remasters" for everything that exists
Also re4 is perfect as it is
Eeeeeeeeeeeeh
Maybe too much Spexico in it
They're bad.
B a l l i s t i c s cue kinda awful physics
I'm okay with distasteful cheese as long as the person eats it by the end.
Special costume 2 is such a blessing
I was always getting tired of protecting Ashley
That part could use a bit of a polish
And it comes with the extra stylish tommy gun.
Re3 in fact git sold early in France
W h a t
Some guy posted the entire walkthrough
W H A T
Uuh
I'll put tags
It's that the demo baits you with something
||Jill uses in the game her re1 costume, not her re3||
...
At least in the leaked videos shevus seen specially putting ||Her balaclava on||
Huh...
Also the game begins ||in first person||
The game is more or less re2 length
Long at first, VERY short if you know what you are doing
Agreed
that sounds like most old school RE games
It took my brother over 8 hours on his Leon run
I'm playing Claire and I'm going at like, double pace
We're playing together 1 at a time for obvious reasons
Mfw you go for a toilet break and he takes you back to a room with clickers
Claire runs faster in caution (not sure what health you at)
Yeah, the speedrunner route involves getting into caution with the Armless zombie of the street
Bruuh
I'm going to argue that RE4's controls have aged wonderfully
That's risky af though
Controls are fine
Graphics though
Eeeh
The zombie anims are also repetitive
It looks FineTM
It was a GameCube title, it looks fine.
But I'd love a modern remake
I mean, if you're speedrunning risky is kinda the name of the game (especially if you're going for wr)
Good level design.
It's not like, horrible, especially if you're playing on the HD remaster don't get me wrong
Also given Nemesis gonna stalk you all game is logical you get buffed
There's a couple texture packs that go a long way towards fixing it
I just wanna see my boi Leon suplexing Plagas in 4k in all its glory
Mood
Mfw you can trigger an Ashley voiceline w the suplex
Honestly if they remade it I don't know if I'd want them to change the controls or not
I just wanna know
It's too new to change up the control scheme, though no more tank controls for certain
Does RE2MAKE have an easter egg where you can play the og completely?
Cuz that's my favorite trope in game sequels
Like they'd have to bring it into line with modern entries but there's just something satisfying about getting good at the RE4 setup
no, you can have the claire and leon models be the 98 versions though
Also the original soundtrack in DLC
yeah that too
Honestly like, just give me RE2make-style fully fledged Mercenaries entry and we'll be golden
ngl Project REsistance looks somewhat interesting
My dad was such a horror game fan back in the day
I am still scarred from those games
and that it's coming free with RE3make will but quite a bit of replay value with it
If sounds kinda unbalanced
4 v 1 survivor vs killer is always going to be balanced towards the killer being more powerful than the survivors, it kinda makes it harder to get a good balance especially when this is the side thing to RE3make which will have a tonne more time pumped into it
but we'll see what comes of it
The epic version of the stanley parable still have the files that make it work with steam addons
Weirdchamp
On that note though, remakes are always nice but I would prefer if AAA put that budget on original IPs
Guerilla games, popular for the killzone series, did something totally out of their comfort zone with Horizon and i have to say it's one of the better built open worlds I've experienced
Ninja theory, having released heavenly sword and enslaved: odyssey to the west (great games btw) took a deep dive with hellblade and it was magnificent
Even death stranding is a welcome addition in my eyes
unfortunately original IP's are very risky from a financial standpoint, so having a remakes or sequals to existing well known IP is a good way to build a buffer in the case an original IP happens to flop for whatever reason
sequals/remakes also have a risk of flopping but it's less likely to happen with well known IP
That's why we indie Devs only work on original stuff that we pray to cthulu won't flop
Platinum is a weird case
IIRC they only own sole rights to their latest project?
Their consistent issue has been "we'd love to make a sequel to X, but Y company would have to sign off as well"
I think it's a totally original IP
That happens to fall in line with Viewtiful Joe and Wonderful 101
It helps there is no draw value to a sequel unless it's popular-ish
Also Platinum is always a bit of a gamble if the games are successful
If the game doesn't become a Trainwreck on production and ends cancelled like Scalebound or also called 'How to bury your dragon'
I forget, was that cancelled because the tech wasn't there yet?
Nope, because Microsoft and Platinum games relationship completely broke down, PG were very delayed in development and Microsoft not wanting to go full sunk cost fallacy ended pulling the plug in the middle of the development
Back then people were sure PG was gonna fold or getting bought
Yeah, but I have the sensation of they had hadn't made Bayonetta they would have been bought years ago
Those two games were life-savers as a flop can sink a non-AAA game company
Look Team Bondi, makes one game that sells millions, company ends on a crunching fiasco and folds
TMNT, Star Fox: Zero, and Korra (arguably, I don't think it's that bad)
Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and Metal Gear Rising
Tell me this server uses Falcon Ron as a Kappa
Now seriously, Korra is the only middle ground game they've made the rest are either great or terrible
Well, maybe anarchy reigns was mediocre too or at least forgettable
I mean
Animated show tie in game
it's mediocre at best
Unless they REALLY try hard
I dunno tho about metal gear rising
I don't like how parrying works
You tilt your stick, press a button... And, you are set
Whatever attack hits after that is parried, regardless of the time that's passed
If it was a regular "press button to parry" in royal guard style it would sit better with me, but that's just me
It parries all the time sure, but on Revengeance difficulty you get bodied if you don't perfect parry
Sure but, changing how a mechanic works as a way of tweaking difficulty?
Bayonetta at least changes the enemy layout
Oh it works exactly the same
And Revengeance also throws more and harder enemies at you
With Ray?
Yup
Do tell
God-damned Ray
I haven't played since the year it came out lol
Poof, he's at the other side of the street
He's the reason i couldn't get S on that level y'know?
Not because i couldn't dodge
I don't think I can share the sentiment but I do appreciate it
But because he kept stalling the fight more and more
The game just decided to give me a B
And with no way of stopping those jumps whatsoever
Also Korra had the sports minigame making it worthy for me
I can hardly think of anything good coming of Korra
Why is the sport minigame good when the sport thing on the show was literally irrelevant
The combat is mostly solid
Not super deep but the game was made with the budget of a paperclip and some pocket lint
I more meant the starting price of 15 bucks
But either way was Ray even that "easy"
Cuz when fighting him, i repeat, my greatest concern was catching up with him rather than the actual act of dealing damage and so
I mean, it's definitely possible to put him down within two jumps
The first phase, i mean
I think I might have gotten it in one once?
I did not have the fully upgraded stuff, btw
The first mission you can't use any upgrades at all
I mean in backtracking
Yeah
I play one difficulty after another
You're locked into MGS4 Raiden for the first mission
I'd have to replay it to let you know
???
I also haven't played it in maybe two years?
I still don't get it honestly
