@slow plover accountability helps a lot! did some mutual comic-creation with some friends and we managed to get some stuff drawn
Id try altering them to fit then
I've learned to just skip world-building completely and kinda "create as it's needed"
oh, for sure, but it's for nothing if it never gets shown
And it's from that that the story idea arises
That's why I keep completed world's for future use
One video game I really want to make uses a world I made a year or two ago, that went through some revisions
I feel like the older I get, the less punk my worlds are?
like, less cyberpunk or solarpunk
Ah yes, the classic issue of "punks that got old"
I mean, the main one I wanna make is still cyberpunk, I like Cyberpunk
I just don't have enough punkness in myself to pour into my works anymore
But the other one is basically 1920s mafia with technomagic
I.e. magic that is essentially coding
punk is rebellion against a dystopia
even if a world is sci fi, it does not auto making it cyberpunk
I may or may not have chosen a mafia setting for the EXEcutor pun
mafia like the werewolf game?
Cyberpunk doesn't inherently have to be a rebellion, but it has certain elements that make it distinct
No as in 1920s mafia aesthetic and themes
not necessarily rebellion as in revolution or anti-gouvernment behaviours
but like, the mood is "the world is oppressive, and I'm going to do more than just survive in it"
See I don't think a cyberpunk world has to be oppressive
though considering neuromancer, maybe I'm wrong
"The punk subculture includes a diverse array of ideologies, fashion, and other forms of expression, visual art, dance, literature and film. It is largely characterised by anti-establishment views, the promotion of individual freedom"
...lion king suddenly looks punk
it could also be that cyberpunk in general is getting less popular because the whole dystopia thing is looking kinda weak compared to real life (according to most people I know)
Anyway it's really late and I should sleep
rest well
I wish utopia literature could become more common again
like Herland or the like
the impossible idealist civilization ruined by the arrival of the protagonists
I think that's more of a "don't do that. Don't give me hope." sort of thing
maybe
one man's utopia could easily be another's dystopia
and pokemon world is pretty utopic, it's also very popular
you are over a thousand??
I mean, 26 years ago is pretty old, story world wise
wait did you mean pokemon or herland or utopian literature
pokemon world
oh
I was refuting it as a good example by noting its age
it's not a good example of recently-made utopic world-building
fiction has two age standards
there's the "it's a classic" age standard, which is usually rated in the hundreds of years
and then there's the "it's a meme" age standard, which is rated in months at best
that's fair
I've only ever seen that one on an airplane that I didn't have headphones for
so idk much about it
Continuing the conversation from hades-gameplay-
To say "procgen is the spirit of roguelikes" is just as broad and unapplicable as saying "mastery through replayability" is
I would even go as far as to say that permadeath is more core to what a roguelike is than procgen is
Procgen is a means to an end
It forces you to learn and engage with the mechanics instead of just learning the levels
If a game has procedurally generated levels, but not any kind of permadeath that forces you to go back to those levels over and over again, then it's not really occupying the same genre space as a roguelike
Torchlight has no permadeath I think?
My bad, torchlight is dungeon crawl but not roguelike
yeah, Risk of Rain 2 doesn't have much in the way of procedural generation and its definitely a roguelike
hey guys, do any1 have any idea what is this small window popping on my windows at the bottom right? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/524879157000142852/660797220731486208/IMG_2140.JPG
i cant interact with it, its just stays here chillin, but i dont like it
Just googled "windows 10 refresh icon bottom right" 😅
yeah, im not native, so i cant google well in english
Me neither hah. Just pick some keywords really.
Sometimes it's a matter of luck honestly
Completely jumping topic. To those who enjoy ASMR, and have a love for Hades and/or Greek Mythos, this video is a godsend.
It the entire "The Odyssey" by Homer. This is super relaxing, and has helped me sleep countless times. And as I've only read the Illiad and Odyssey in Finnish, it was interesting to listen to them in English.
Here's to those of you who really enjoyed the Odyssey series. Follow Odysseus from the sack of Troy through Hades and back, to return to Penelope and Telemacus in his kingdom in Ithaca. I like the idea of really long videos that you can watch over multiple nights, so if that'...
Well, Neither the Iliad and the Odyssey are originally in English or Finnish, both are in Ancient Greek
If I could read or speak Ancient Greek, I'd be on it. Though there was a post on Reddit that apparently Finnish and Ancient Greek have the same sort of grammar and word structure.
👀 I'm quite skeptical of that because Ancient Greek is an Indo-European language and Finnish is Uralic
Ah yeah but found it https://www.reddit.com/r/greece/comments/ecpd98/if_you_speak_finnish_you_speak_ancient_greek/
It looks like Finnish took a large amount of Greek vocab
Which is surprising, as Finnish is an Uralic or, well- "Suomalais-Ugrilainen" language. There should not be a connection between the two. Finland borrows from the Germanic languages like Sweden and English, Slavic languages like Russian.
Though it is good to note, Finnish words in that Reddit post are a bit misstranlated and have "Puhekieli" words in there. Like a commentor posted, "Mä oon" is a spoken phrase, and not grammatically correct. The proper version would be "Minä Olen."
They're far apart too. It's surprising there is a connection
Most likely a shere coincidence. Reason being that it so happens to be that Swedish, Norwegian and most Germanic languages also fall under the Indo-European language flag, from which Finland borrowed.
I have a hypothesis that the Finnish word for "Thank you", "Kiitos", comes from Greek Κυδος, where English gets the word "Kudos" from
Yes, I have a bachelor's in Linguistics. Why do you ask? 😛
And yes, Finnish is Uralic and Greek is Indo-European. I don't think there's a connection either. So I agree with @scarlet chasm
That is very likely, as the neighboring words for "Thank you" are nowhere near "Kiitos." Spasiba in Russian, Tack in Norwegian/Swedish/Danish-
"Takk"/"Tack" is probably the Norse equivalent of English "Thank" and German "Danke"
The language I see that's extremely close to Finnish is Estonian. I think they're related.
The danish word for "Thanks" is "Tak"
Finnish and Estonian are related. Same language family
Though they sound and look the same, a Finnish person can barely understand an Estonian.
i missed my kitten so much when i was gone
she's such a baby

can I ask/bother the artist of supergaint for learning how they've development such an amazing art
@amber arch You might find some answers in #ask-supergiant
aight
I believe the first Q&A was actually the art team
can I ask/bother the artist for tips and critique on my art?
You can try asking, but I bet they're pretty busy.
i don't imagine the artists would give out free tips and critique
Maybe the would at a convention…
today's free game at epic was talos principle
looks like epic is cycling though the top rated triple Is
yesterday's was shadow tactics: blade of the shogun
and before that, hyper light drifter
Talos Principle is a pretty great game
okay, at least it wasn't something on my wishlist :/
lmao i already bought (but haven't played) the talos principle
so I'm learning irish and I accidentally said 'she drinks an apple'
sick
It's incredibly quiet in here, I see.

Hey, anyone here knows about computer issues?
Like, is anyone a technician or can give some solid advice about two issues I have with my computer, please?
You might have better chance if you straight up explain what is wrong.
You're right, maybe someone else encountered the same issue and managed to fix it. Okay then.
So, funny story. I've got another problem with my computer now that also cannot seem to be able to resolve at all now. It's infinite restarting. Even when I am shutting it down from the windows icon. I'll have to press the power button and hold it down in order to shut my computer completely now. Thanks to some idiots from the electricity company that came here for a checkup in the morning, my computer and my sister's computer have been damaged / afflicted by CMOs bug.
My sister's issue with 9c returned to her computer, too....so, yup, lucky us.
Either we try to manually plug out/install CMOs battery, at least for my Sister's computer to fix it, or wait for another electrical power surge.
Second issue is WAY harder than this though, for months now, when I am playing heavy intense/power hungry games, my computer shuts off/restarts, and sometimes does that with the fans spinning too loud, no idea if it's the aftermarket cooler on cpu or gpu's or psu's. Some games like Hades and other similar to that, also Dark Souls II, I can play them fine with no problems for hours. If I play games like Hellblade, AC Origins, Tekken 7, my computer does that.
I changed PSU with a new one to make sure it wasn't Power Supply issue, turns out, it isn't power supply, so, some people told me my gpu is failing, but I don't see/notice any artifacts or messed up graphics, my wild idea is it might need change of paste on the gpu, because this started around summer, July-August, after playing AC Origins for hours everyday, and my case was burning hot.
That's all, if anyone is kind enough to give me some help or advice or something, I'll be more than indebted.
The latter definitely sounds like some kind of overheating issue.
I know, right? I changed it paste in the lab like 2 weeks ago when I took it there, and earlier again on the lab 3 months ago.
The issue still persists, and I am scared to death it might be my gpu failing.
But it can still play games with no errors or issues, just not the super intensive ones anymore.
Like, it can play them, but most of the times it will shut down/restart.
Kernel-Power error 41 = computer shut down unexpectedly, tried any solution, nothing, I can confirm it's not software, which makes me even more afraid.
So, either my gpu is dying or is overheating.
Changed paste to CPU
Not gpu.
Never changed gpu.
Have you checked the temperatures with something? Idk if Win can do it out of the box but there's software which can display the temperatures from the sensors.
Might give you a clue
I am using Speccy, and temps look fine to me.
GPU spikes around 65-68 C
Which is okay for GTX 970 Evga 4gb edition.
having been frying my laptop at 98°C at some point yeah that's fine
I heard if GPU goes above 90c it usually shuts down the computer but I don't know anymore.
Well that's weird. Even if the sensors were broken you'd have to have temperature spikes somewhere.
Maybe it gets hot super fast at a specific moment and that's why it shuts down.
Not gonna lie, we had so much heat on summertime this year on Greece.
The world is going to worst in summer.
Poles changing, global warming and all that.
The computer was burning hotter and brighter than the Egyptean sands in AC Origins...
I could even fry eggs for example.
- didn't do that.
So, I assume my GPU was like "oof, man" and just started yeeting out.
Welp, I'm afraid I'm not much of help here really, sorry.
Happy new year’s eve!

in the meantime enjoy a picture of my daughter https://i.imgur.com/4nAtg5V.jpg

Granola. It's delicious.
Take 3...
(I took a look and now my chakras are going feral, gotta sleep it off)
duelyst devs really liked to talk about listening to the community and all that stuff but really didnt, the choices they made with their game and how the packs n stuff were handled was just plain bad
tbh its quite a while ago
I often think of what happened to that game. It had so much potential
omg
lol
I stopped playing when the packs were changed to be less-than-great so cant really remember
At the risk of sounding a bit condescending, you have no idea how much worse they were
I also built a discord bot for them that posted images of the card, its stats/abilities and what the keywords in those were
being a poor af dude I asked if they could host it or anything, 2/3 of them said yes for sure and then just never got back/ignored me constantly
There were a lot more screw ups that were hidden from the community
Like the data leak
And people literally cheating to get top spots on the ladder
tbh, someone should buy em out/grab the game and just like, change some stuff on it and voila
cause its a great game if you just look at the game
What makes it great
IMO the art style, the factions and cards and the grid system
like it had a fairly good amount of cards and factions
albeit some were broken but thats just cause they didnt balance for crap, n power creeped
hah that's why everyone should play hearthstone because it totally doesn't cost a fortune to play at all
They took out a lot of the features that made it unique though
Duelyst is one of the few card games where I had lots of different decks and stuff
and yeah towards the end
Like 2 draw, directional abilities
but like, idk early access or a few months prior to the first expansion, it was really good at one period of time
Yeah it had some really good traction
OH
wasnt there some tournament that was awful
league did a better job doing a tournament and it was literally just run by 1 guy on his weekend lmao XD
Grid system?
I think it was 5x9
not sure was just giving an example
Yeah ik
i'd recommend looking up a vid from the early days
it was a fun game
devolved real quickly tho
All I remember is I enjoyed the game before it went to crap and I made a discord bot for them and they promised they'd help host it and stuff since the community really seemed to like it tbh
think I have some gameplay footage somewhere
I think this is the first time im learning why you left
Thats fair
shame it died the way it did
reminds me of that game
skyforge
super awesome on release, bit behind the korean version but that happens.... and then the publisher really started adding their own crap, reworked some systems so it was grindy
literally reset everyones account like 6 months after it had launched and just gave out some skill points and a free class or something
Lol
it became p2w
like they give money for winning the monthly pvp battles
so u spend like 1k to boost ur character and level as much as you can and then ya win like 500
;-; greed just ruins so many games
Interesting
if artifact devs try to redeem themselves like no man sky devs the game wouldn't be in such a tragic state such as now
who would have though people would not like to pay for a card game then continue being forced to pay for in-game packs
i don't have any recollection of that game
went from trash to like, 2nd most played mmorpg, only 2nd to wow
Which is actually not that great of a feat
I think you need to be zombie with half brain blown away to design MMO worse than 99% of what is on market
:T
In fact even the recollection of what is MMO supposed to be, and impression of what MMO is in new generations is completely skewed
dont think its easy
Well nothing is easy.
I think it's pretty insane what they did
Ok, what makes it so special ?
housing, raids/8man dungeons/dungeon systems, mechanics in fights, the flying on chocobos, the public event system
its all polished insanely well
they ended up dropping PS3 support the other year because they wanted to improve the game more but couldnt because of technical limitations
That is exactly problem with today game industry. It functions on premise: You know that great game that made lot of money last year? Well we will make the same just bbigget, better and more polished.
that hardly ever happens
Result: 16 years of failed WoW clones
We literally didnt have good MMO for 16 years. Can you imagine that
hardly any devs just make a bigger better and polished version of a game
@fallen charm exactly
there are tons of good MMORPGs out there though
Yea ? Ok I like to be amused 😄
GW2, SWTOR, WOW, FFXIV, BDO
Are you asian or do you like asian games, culture ?
i'm not asain, and I just like good games
SWTOR is western, BDO is korean(?), FFXIV is Japa and WOW is western
pretty spread out
Koreans and Chinese kind of hijacked the MMO in last 10 years
it's pretty amazing to go from an awful game to 2nd best in the genre
SWTOR is one of last western MMOs launched wopping 12 yerars ago
Can you imagine that ? 12 years ago since we had major western MMO released
doesnt matter who did it
MMORPGs just arent as popular here
western devs have better things to make
Does not matter if you like playing Lollis, girls in heavy armor and high heels, gender locked classes
Should I go on
I don't think you really understand
¯_(ツ)_/¯
or I don't understand what you're trying to explain
I think this conversation has sorta devolved so
Yea. I dont think you do.
WoW kind of changed MMOs to this quest hub based, group dungeon, THEMEPARK games
imo going from a awful-tier game to 2nd best, is an insane accomplishment
I am not saying FFXI is bad
you mean mmorpg? not mmo
In fact its probably second best MMO made in last 10 years
...
fortnite is an mmo, did u see how popular that got
i think you're a bit confused genre wise
I am saying that MMORPG genre is sad, died corpse of itself. I am major fan of the genre. And there is not day that i think how bad it failed
Ok. What is Ultima online ?
mmorpg ? mmo ? Something else ?
I am writing mmo, instead of full mmorpg just to make it shorter to type
But anyway FFXII good game, no doubt about it. State of MMORPGs today, horrible
Thats what i mean
Oh, people were talking about Duelyst
Good game, horribly managed, and eventually they just dropped it to work on Godfall
Which they inexplicably got support from gearbox and sony for
It's even a PS5 launch title
And I'm just confused how, given that the studio is anything but qualified
loot driven third person arpg
is that a joke??
love how they don't even mention duelyst on the about us page of their website
or anywhere else on that website apparently
I mean the background is from Duelyst, but otherwise, yeah
Its an abandoned game that they mismanaged to its death
Not exactly something you wanna put on your website
it was a long-form project with great art and interesting mechanics
i think you should display your failures
but that's just me
You should, but it would give people pause given that Godfall appears to be a "games as a service" style game
So they just bury any mentions of it
They have claimed that they might return to Duelyst eventually, but I find the odds of that to be miniscule
Which is a shame, it was a very good game, until they started messing up
yeah, in that instance brand recognition might be a very harmful thing
too bad about duelyst, truly the most innovative ccg to come out in recent years
faeria could be mentioned as well but does it deserve it?
I mean Faeria is well designed
I dont enjoy it personally, its too slow for my taste
But its neat
same, i like the concept but playing it is a chore
also i got scammed and that didn't feel great
Ive kind of been bouncing between card games since
Now Im just waiting for Legends of Runeterra
i stuck with hearthstone for far too long
Honestly, HS gets a worse rep than it deserves
Its fine
Not amazing by any means, but fine
it's alright but it shouldn't be in such a mediocre state at this point in its lifecycle
and the price of playing that game is dreadful
Yeah the price is unfortunate
but yeah that kinda burned me out of cardgames tbqh
Im also annoyed with the "class identity" nonsense they brought up a while back
Which basically said "rogue can only ever be tempo rogue, but Warrior can play all archetypes"
And even then they didnt follow their own outlined class identities, as Warrior got several things that were supposed to be weaknesses
yeah, every class can do most anything nowadays and it's a little dumb???
and every single expansion you face three decks on ladder for six months straight
fun stuff
But yeah, LoR was hella fun in the preview weeks
seemed like it yeah
i've seen some gameplay here and there, not really interested but it seems like it could easily find its place next to hs at the top of the online ccg foodchain
if I get into LoR after release I might drop hs entirely
bc I'm f2p and grind single-player content
I do ladder for quest gold and that's it
they haven't released good sp content since loe
as an f2p with no decks? they didn't release any good sp content until kobolds
and it looks like they're iterating away from the model soon
eh, their samey, endless deckbuilders aren't good imo
I used to play HS but honestly, getting stuff as f2p is just asking for addiction and then you feel anxious about not having time completing quests, not to mention that then you play the game only to complete the quests and that's it.
And I wouldn't even consider paying for it tbh because it's a giant moneysink. Like if it had a reasonably priced subscription in order to play, it would be worth considering. But the packs are ridiculously overpriced when compared to full costs of normal games.
which is why the recent single player content is so nice, it asks nothing of your resources except some initial gold grinding to unlock it, then you get a nice varied game every time
oh yeah, as a f2p, dropping it for like two weeks allowed me to remove it from my life entirely
incredible how games as a service f you up
LoRs f2p model seems decent, but Im mostly looking forward to the gameplay
I actually really like the champion system
Its very flavourful and fun
Ah, Artifact
The most spectacular failure yet
Honestly it was easy to predict that it would fail, but even then I underestimated how fast
yeah, too bad it crashed that way
frankly a great card game
here's hoping the long haul actually goes somewhere
I doubt it
Even on the offchance that it does, it will likely be quite different
Honestly, Im a bit glad that it crashed
It provides a cautionary tale for future card game devs
Dont be greedy, or your game might flame out in a week
legit far less greedy than most ccgs but go off ig
Not really, before it crashed the cost of a full set was 350$ or so
Which is a bit more than HS
Except unlike HS, all that cost was in the actually good cards
yeah that's mostly bc the playerbase was tiny and people were tryna make a quick buck
the system was certainly not perfect but it was functional
Functionally awful
350$ was the norm, thats where the price should stabilize
Because the people selling on the market dont want to lose out on money
So the cost of the set on the market had to be the average cost of the packs you need to have the full set, multiplied with 1.15
And without mandatory paid drafting, there was no way to have supply exceed demand like it does on MODO
Artifacts model was basically MTGs model but worse, and for all of HSs fault, one of the main things people liked about it is that its cheaper than MTG
Or basically any paper card game
i mean yh a trade rework would have been ncessary down the line
i didn't care much for that aspect tbh, weaker cards still worked and i'm more of a drafter anyway
They had no plans for that
Allowing players to trade meant that they would lose out on that sweet 15% cut on every transaction
with sufficient backlash they'd have had to do it but instead the game instantly died
True, perhaps
I mean, they didnt even plan to have free phantom drafts
That already required backlash
It was just overwhelmingly greedy in all aspects, designed to make as much money as possible
My guess is they figured they had enough goodwill for people to overlook it (much like their lootboxes get overlooked a lot, despite being the worst ones, or how the fact that they popularized them gets overlooked)
But they miscalculated
which is extremely sad imo becuse the game was good
goddam capitalism am i right fellas
Hear hear
Idk about the game, I never tried it, I figure it wouldnt have been my thing either
it's like lor but more convoluted and less refined
i prefer it personally but i can see how most wouldn't
have you seen artifact or
you do but it's less direct
Some cards do
But the basic game doesnt
Plus, no stack either
The only thing the 2 games share is that they have concurrent turns, and even those are different
concurrent turns and champions and linked spells
and yeah lor grabbed some stuff from everywhere
but it's the only card game in recent memory to share mechanics with artifact
Eh, the champions are very different from artifacts heroes, as are the linked spells
Theyre closer to Magics legendary creatures
With that one gimmick from Future Sight
Grandeur
i'm aware but you can't really dismiss the idea that lor devs took some ideas from artifact
I can actually
Mainly because LoR was worked on before Artifacts gameplay details were announced
i see it as a more streamlined version of it that picks and chooses more from other card games than trying like artifact to make its own thing from scratch
you do realise that you can change gameplay elements during 1+ year of dev time yes
Yeah but we also know that the basic gameplay elements were already in place at that point
The only exception are linked spells, since originally champions didnt have them
You just couldnt play a champion you had on the board already (like magics legendary creatures)
That felt bad, so they added the linked spells
Really, its more streamlined magic
With a dash of L5R
l5r?
Legend of the 5 Rings
haven't heard of that one before
Old CCG set in a tabletop RPG setting
Recently rebooted as an LCG by Fantasy Flight Games
It has concurrent turns
aight neat
With the strict alternation that LoR has, using a "First Player Token"
which determines what, who has the first action within any given turn?
or is it like the attack/defense switch of lor?
The former
so moreso akin to artifact's iniative system then
Not exactly
In Artifacts system initiative passes back and forth
In LoR and L5R it doesnt
you're gonna have to be more explicit because artifact's initiative system can be somewhat convoluted
do you mean within the same turn or from turn to turn?
From turn to turn
or does the initiative just never change in l5r? and one player always gets to make the first action?
I mean no
Within the turn
In L5R, if you just went first, youre going second next turn, always
In Artifact, thats not quite the case
yeah, initiative manipulation is very important there
Right
they might've iterated on l5r's systems, i'd never heard of it before, gonna dig for a sec
LoRs system is more L5Rs with the only change being alternating attacker/blocker setup
Which is probably to bring it closer to magic
Hence also having 2 main phases, one before and one after combat
yeah no i see the similarities more now
haven't been exposed to mtg before so i just linked it to what few experiences felt similar
Well Ive followed LoR closely so I knew a bit more
Like the fact that the devs are long-time magic enthusiasts
Kinda gives it away a bit
Don't know where else to ask this, but the ranks people are applying themselves in #bot-commands , what are they for? Sorry if that's a dumb question aaa
Which are you confused about?
Well, all of them pretty much, except the one for the feedback channel
Some of them are pronoun roles, some of them are just for what your fave game is and give your nickname a color, early access is to grant you certain channel permissions, kbm/controller is so ppl know how you play if you want them to!
OH that's what KBM stands for
Key Board Mouse, yup!
Is there a list of applyable roles somewhere?
I belieeeve you can search them in the bot channel with....hang on
the pinnedd message
Ok, thanks!
Now to pick a favorite game... Hard decision! I suppose I could pick "All" but I haven't played Bastion yet
Hope you like it when you do!!
I'm sure I will! I've loved all the games so far, they're all visually stunning, and fun to play
The pink for Pyre matches my icon so that made my choice a little easier, lol
its cute!!
pssssssst watch this it's good

We talk to the developers at Mobius Digital Games about the design of their breakthrough hit - Outer Wilds.
Noclip's work is 100% cro...
Also play the game
Outer Wilds is far and away my game of the year for 2019
I replayed Bastion/Transistor and Terraria this year, but looking at those "Wilds" from time to time too... Still haven't made my mind to buy this game...
I will say that it's not quite for everyone (specifically if the idea of feeling really small in space is a paralyzing one)
do ants even care of their smallness? one may bite me while knowing I’m thousands times bigger
We should think like ants
I can imagine real proportions of stellar systems so player/ships do not look "so small" in steam videos. Just can't figure out what gameplay is there... But don't wan't to watch playthroughs on youtube because steam tags have "mystery" (and I don't want to ruin it)
Ants aren't sapient, I don't think.
They at least don't have the self-preservation instinct to say "If this retaliates, I will die."
or “I will die biting this huge monster: worth it”
I can try to summarize without spoiling anything
The best descriptor is that it's an environmental exploration game where you fly a ship to different planets to unravel a mystery
when you put it that way it applies to no man’s sky too, lionheart
Sorta kinda
do we also follow a signal in Wilds?
I'll let you look that up, I don't want to go any further into possible spoilers if I can help it
k
and back to ant convo, humans are unique next to birds in that we have evolved significant self-control/impulse control
most animals on earth have much less impulse control and act without thinking of long term consequence
human, dogs, wolves, some birds etc. however have better “future vision” able to plan and envision long term consequences in scale of days or years in advance
The best descriptor is that it's an environmental exploration game where you fly a ship to different planets to unravel a mystery
That much I've figured myself... But will I like it or not depends on the details of mystery and on the "instruments" I can use as a player... Well... looks like the only way is to try it out...
So what I suggest is that you pick it up and refund it if it's not to your tastes (Steam has an extremely generous refund policy, and Epic has one but they're very strict about "2 hours of playtime")
You will absolutely know within that time if this is a game you will enjoy
Unlike some other games that take 4+ hours to really get off the ground
Haven't refunded anything yet so I was not considering this option. Thanks for the idea, @raven harbor !
Doesn't Steam have the two hours thing too?
Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within the required return period, and, in the case of games, if the title has been played for less than two hours.
@raven harbor @south shadow
you can play for more than that and still get a refund, they're very lenient about that "requirement"
Steam is really lenient about the two hour thing, Epic is very strict
Ah, I see
Gaining access to more and more areas as you uncover more and more secrets
ah man, i bought that in november and still haven't gotten around to play it 😅
sometimes I feel like steam is the platform for video game hoarders more than people who actually play the games
it's definitely not an accurate feeling, but just looking at how many games are untouched in my library and hear that others also do that now and then...
2020 resolution no.3: actually try some of the games in the library
lmao, i feel good that i only have forty-one
to put it in context that's out of 483
also a bunch that i've played offline are in there but didn't get registered as played because of that, some humble bundle games and some franchise bundle games that i don't care for
Ive been using family sharing with my friends and playing THEIR games that they never played
They've got some good ones
...steam your math is off again
Shrodingers game
maybe it's doublecounting offline games
and there's no crossover between played and unplayed
i
what
oh nvm then
i was thinking that maybe it was counting games u played offline as both played and unplayed
that was my first reaction too
but dynamic collections might just be broken idk
only 18 games left uncategorized in my library... most of my hours (games with 100 hours and more) are in six games
all others only have few hours or mere minutes in them, or untouched
My backlog is 190 out of 687 across my digital PC libraries
in your steam inventory
although if you bought it today u might be past the deadline idk
time goes way too fast when doing chores
at least the home is much cleaner for a while
...I'm out of mung beans, time to riot inside
how many coffees does it take b4 u get a heart attack
if you're asking this question out of your own experience you should perhaps stop drinking coffee now 👀
you're probably not going to give yourself a heart attack in one sitting
but also, drinking too much caffeine caffeine is wretched
you usually hit ld50 at about 80 to 100 cups
so you'd probably get a stomach ache from all that milk first
alright so if i drink a few cups im safe?
well
as safe as u can be after a few cups of coffee
yeah you'll be fine
just don't drink too much or you get jittery, but you won't have any ill effects with a few cups
Coffee is far from the worst thing to drink if you’re concerned about caffeine content
true
i knew a guy in high school who drank multiple large energy drinks every single day 😬
yeah just don't make yourself sick, but you're probably not going to have a heart attack
To get a heart attack requires SO much Caffeine it that you would probably throw up before you even get to that point.
i guess unless you took a frightening amount of caffeine pills
or ate pure caffeine
or did that thing on that one tumblr post where the guy crushed caffeine pills and brewed them in turkish coffee, lmao
The highest dose someone ever took of caffeine and lived was because someone was doing a study and one of the nurses misread how much caffeine they were supposed to administer and gave the patient 100 times more than they should
Related, overcaffination is the worse high I've ever experienced
Like supremely unpleasant
too much caffeine is a very bad feeling
I once saw a man with rather altered state of mind in the metro from drinking too many red bulls
He was sitting still and it had been a minute but he felt like half an hour had passed
His heart was beating too fast and he couldn’t focus
so if your goal is to stay awake and be able to work, do some ginger chew and/or ginseng chew
(Please do not overdose with either of them either)
my cat loves me very much and liked to crawl on top of me when im lying down and knead me, which is very sweet but she's fat so it's also very painful
i think i have rib damage from binding and she loves stepping on my ribs the most
oh noo :((
her love is worth the pain
I think that pot I put on the floor somehow moved like 5 inches without anyone touching it
it's probably just because it was still shaking when I put it down and the unevenness of its bottom made it move as it vibrated (falling few millimeters on one side more than the other every back-n-forth)
still looks eerie, I should probably borrow a cat or aim a mirror at it just in case?
might also be some vibrations from another source contributing too
i would put some kind of padding under to level it
newspaper seems to do the trick
now I also kind of understand why this pot heats up so slowly: part of it was probably not in contact with the stove
woah I just made a lemonade that tasted like some fancy boba tea base
6 meyer lemons plus about 240ml of aloe plus 3 spoons of honey plus water
Mayor lemons
for a moment i forgot aloe was edible and thought you were talking about aloe vera
aloe vera is edible though? (only some varieties, please do not eat your flowershop aloe vera)
They are sorta the same thing
(I used bottled aloe drink with aloe pieces)
Mmmm aloe drink
I am having such sugar high right now
im thinking of like the stuff you get from the drug store for sunburns
aloe vera drink is sooo good
found it in my international aisle and buy it every time i go to the store
ikr
Me, writing a fictional story about original characters in a modified version of a fictional setting: Okay but do they play darts correctly
easy way out: say it's house rules so it's not representative of any darts culture
Unpossible
If you really want, I'll link it when I'm done
I've been craving good stuff to read for a while, preferably structured in a way that takes the best of terry pratchett and jonas hassen khemiri
I'll try to live up to those expectations, but I meant more that this is very self-indulgent stuff, and I'm not sure how much of it will be understandable to other people. I'll let you know when I'm finished, though!
and strong opening like a neal stephenson
I mean, each author has their unique way to be good, I may want this and that but it's even better if it's totally different and I only love it more
yeah basically
Yeet
persona 4 is feelgood, persona 3 is death, persona 5 is rebellion
and to the guy who was asking about whether or not they should play p4
I just wish they would consider of the players who actually bought the full game first and then make the extras as DLC, it's not like it's impossible and Atlus is not a random/poor company that doesn't know how to make a game or a separate content.
i would say yes if you love getting involved with the life of a bunch of really great characters
yeah
i agree wholeheartedly
that is on one hand
the other problem is that people keep giving them the money that just allows 'em to do it
not enough people complain about it
oh my god
seriously
i can't say shid
wtf
Yeah, true. The first problem lies on people throwing their money supporting blindly a company, that then turns to greed and to bad/poor customer service.
they eat that poop up
lol
yep
and the people who constantly buy the spinoffs
it kinda proves that they can just get away with anything
I'm gonna play p4 anyway cause I have the ps2 disk
that kind of fact can turn a good company bad given their shareholders
shareholders will never not be a terrible thing
Neccesary evil tho right?
I've wholly enjoyed the stories and characters of the Persona content I've consumed but they also tend to do a lot of things that I really wish they didn't
Look, jokes aside, P3 and P4 REALLY deserved their remakes, the content was justified for the price tag back then + given that they both were like SUPER old games. P5 was out in a full price for what? A year or two, barely? And that "remake" just doesn't sit well. If you are a new player and thinking of buying it, congrats! You got every right, I support the idea. But at least as a company with structure, HAVE the damn common courtesy of making a separate DLC file which can properly update the vanilla main game, it's not like the game's 5-10 years old to do something like that in the first place, and it's not like they actually reworked everything in the game.
yeah
I enjoyed the story and the characters, too.
what's really funny rn
Loved them.
i went to eb games the other day
saw persona 5 for 15$ omegalul
it's like
kind of weird honestly
the games themselves have an unbelievable amount of content
The vanilla?
Dang
like i paid 55$ initially for persona 5
i bought an entire ps4 just to play persona 5
and i legit have not once regretted it
that being said
making it so people have to repay full price just for at most 20 hours more of content?
not really epic
I paid around 32 euro I think on my PS4 and I had something to spend back then when I also had a year of sub....god I miss the BB online now.
Bb online?
blazblue?
F blazblue
Ain't touching blazblueh
I hate, it too lol
Guiltys way better
bruhh
blazblue crosstag is fun
and yes i do only say this because of the persona characters
ok i thikn
yes
self reflection has shown me that i am big doo doo
Oh crosstag is fine
Central fiction is the third worst fighting game ever made
And I have fighting game expiereince
Nothing can top Bloodborne in my eyes, I am sorry, guys, I am a BB fanboi. lol
Fair
Burned the game too hard, platinumed it and felt real achievement.
Ironically, when I played DS1 original years ago as a teenage - yes, I am super old, sorry lol - I didn't liked it.
Ds1 is much much less refined and doesn't tech you well
Look at h bomberguys dark souls vids there cool
When DS2 came out, I was like "oh great, another "challenging" crap." little did I know the trailer sold me well, grabbed the game as a rent on my PS3, played it, finished it, had the BEST time of my life ever, years later got PS4 and BB together, it was worth every single euro, then I got DS3 on my Steam, worth it and loved it, re-bought DS2SotFS on Steam, finished it, both 100% , worth it.
have u played code vein?
Played DS1R on a friend's pc and guess what? Found it SUPER easier....except environment. Screw that. DS1 has the hardest maps.
Enemies are easy.
I did and I despised it.
I have
The demo was better.
It's good
I reached the swamp area and it was beyond boring.
Code vein is great
Idk, I can respect people liking it, it's just, doesn't feel for me.
It is a bit samey and boring but overall fun
I get ya
I got lost in the cathedral and duck that was boring but it was worth it
On the other hand I also despised MHW, yeah, please, don't hate me, but I loved GE3.
And GE series in general.
Mhw is boring
^ Finally.
Ge?
I really wanted to try Iceborn though, but sucks it's not going to be standalone, looked more interesting.
God Eater.
Well, for something as an off branch "spin off" from MHW with different setting and universe....
It's perfect, more engaging and more interesting.
Cool
But it's too much anime like story if you dig that, get it.
If you don't like anime, don't play it.
I fing love anime
Then you gonna have the time of your life.
GE3 is literally perfection, actually, but the previous two are too old but with better story.
If you ever get GE3 on Steam or anything, hit me up, man, I can help.
I do, and I mean, the games have coop.
You can play them with a friend if you want.
No invasions.
No pvp.
Eh, if a game needs to have a pvp, I would like it to be like official arena or something when people WANT to go and pvp and not forced, reasons I hated SB community was that.
But in BB you can at least shut off the pvp.
Yes, I did but dropped it, watched the anime.
That's what I meant
And the movies.
Why did you drop it
How can I say it?
Berserk 2016?
It was good, but I guess I am too old to "appreciate" old art. lol
Besides, I'd prefer to watch it animated.
Why tho
The manga drawings are god tier
Half of them could go in a museum honestly
I think I really liked and prefer the animation on this one, the music, the voice acting, it feels more "alive" and immersive for me, personally.
Lol
The movies were really well done.
It's fing brilliant
And really sad.
That song in ep1 is the single best song ever imo
With the first real shot of the abyss
It's so good
Haneseve charandhina
||and it played during the goodbye in like ep 8 or 9||
Oh my gods
I'm not used to actually finishing a writing project
I'm like 75% done, wish me luck
/throw bottles of ink
No!
What you talking about
What thing
A self-indulgent short story with my original characters
💚

(does anybody know if bone can go into dishwasher?)
(not bone china, bone chopsticks and spoons and such)
Huh
Never thought about that before
Doesn't look like bone is ok
I have finished the short story! I'm gonna take a sleep now, I'll revise it in the morning
grats, sleep well
inlay is usually no-no because of the glue
I ended up hand washing the bone
good night 🛌
I sharpen knives for my parents and theirs gets ruined by being lazy and using their dishwasher for their knives
Mood
shoutout to my mom for keeping my sat records from 10 years, something which is absolutely useless but now vital in my application to grad school
i did slightly better than avg which is better than i thought i did
I wonder if she actually kept them, or if its just her mom superpower of being able to find anything youve lost in a place youve already looked
if my mother keeps anything it will be bound to be lost, so probably she kept them and mom superpower is just mom keeping track of where things are
unless my mother has anti-mom power: assure that things are lost when needed
my mom also found my driving test results from when i was 19 so i think it's the mom superpower of just keeping anything vaguely important
You guys know any other nice games?
Maybe some games that are similar to like Dark Souls, Sekiro or such?
play hollow knight
also my mom genuinely has the superpower of finding things, but also the superpower of keeping everything important, which i think most moms have
it does get pretty grindy at high levels
hyper light drifter is great but it doesn't explain very much about itself
you need to experiment and investigate the game on your own
Is hld worth buying
i enjoyed it a lot
but that doesn't mean you will
it's been out for a while so it would probably go on sale every once in a while
and the epic store has given it away for free twice already
so if you're not sure maybe wait for something like that
the game is definitely well made, regardless of whether you will find it enjoyable or not
a good way imo to know if it's worth while buying for you is to watch gameplay or play the game for a bit on a friends account (if you know someone who owns the game)
kinda but not really, they're the same in that you fight big monsters and use them to craft your gear
but that's about it
Mon Hun World is by far the most accessible in the series so far, and if you do play it I'd recomend giving every weapon a play to see what weapon(s) fits your playstyle the most
dauntless feels different to play
also is super not single player friendly
both dauntless and mhw are good overall though
Theyre in the same genre, but their gameplay is different
Id also thrown in God Eater here
Its the most fast-paced of the monster hunter-genre
Its also very accessible, but with crazy potential depth due to the bullet system alone
@exotic harness sabbb
wow I have learned the hard way why asian dishes limit the quantity of bamboo sprouts but it does not stop me from eating too much
basically, humans are not pandas so we get indigestion if we eat too much fiber like this, but the crunchiness is just too good
i approve of this message ^^
i don't know why "bascally, humans are not pandas" is making me laugh so much
