the plotline feels like a step backwards from legion (where we had unity between the factions) and it also isn't helped by blizzard's inability to write female characters that don't go insane after an arc or two, the heart of azeroth, at launch, felt like a step backwards from legion's artifact weapons, which people weren't happy about having to give up and lose powerful lore items as well as the neat ability/abilities you got with it, warfronts were a heavily advertised feature that didn't pan out thr way people hoped and were disappointing to most of the playerbase, allied races required far too much grinding for something advertised as a main feature of the expansion

the allied races were themselves controversial, in part because the nightborne and the highmountain tauren had been neutral parties in legion and their sudden allegiance to one side or the other felt contrived (particularly in the case of the nightborne, who literally only join the horde because tyrande is mean to their leader)

blizzard fell to the curse of affluence

the resurgence of the faction conflict felt like a kick in the teeth after legion, an entire expansion based around "alliance or horde doesn't matter, we need to work together or the world burns", especially considering the situation right now is "the planet we live on is literally bleeding to death and here we are, squabbling over who gets to play in the blood pools"

they forgot how to make good games because they had one good cash cow

same with Valve's game development

it's also a kick in the teeth to horde players, who yet again get the short end of the stick so far as being the 'bad guys' of the conflict go

i found the benchmark only really stuttered at two specific points, when the entire screen got covered in spell effects at once
