So that's all safe.
It's sad that stuff like the rose windows, nave, trancept, and spire all got destroyed from an architectural appreciation standpoint...
But I'm glad there were no casualities and they preserved the stuff most crucial to history that can't be replaced if lost.

the bell towers and the buttresses are safe - it’s the main body of the cathedral, where the roof and spire collapsed, that saw the bulk of the damage. the shell of the building is damaged but, from what i hear, largely intact.
this is a massive improvement from earlier, when it seemed like they weren’t going to be able to save any of it

personally, i felt the belltowers and the front of the cathedral were the most important parts to save because of all the statues and such that would have been destroyed if they’d caught
the fire briefly spread to the left tower but it was brought back under control fairly soon after
the notre dame is my favourite building in paris so i’ve been keeping an eye on things :V
it’s not going to be rebuilt overnight and it may not be the same, but the lady will survive ;p

I think it depends on the programs you use, what sort of work you do, and how big your budget is. Cintiqs are great, but they're also massively expensive. There are some alternative brands, like Yiynova, but I can't speak for their quality since I've only really used Wacom products, personally. I'd definitely do your research and see what alternative brands artists recommend if you don't have a huge budget; I'm not kidding when I say they're like half the price of Wacom.
If you only did 2D art, I'd honestly recommend an iPad. Procreate is amazing, and Clip Studio for iPad is compatible with Clip Studio for desktop. iirc there's an iPad version of Photoshop on the way sometime in the future too. But I don't believe there's anything good on there for 3D--or for any kind of animation if that's what you do.

i think it depends on the artist. Personally, the transition wasn't that hard for me even though I had used a regular tablet for years before that.
I do A TON of line art and cel shading, though. I've talked to artists who find regular tablets better for painting and the like.

i like my huion tablet perfectly fine and i think wacom products are overpriced in general, i don't know about alternative cheaper options for cintiq style tablets with the screen though
but for regular-style tablets i can safely say you don't have to get a wacom, if you don't have the budget

Conflict is always about Man vs ____. In this case, "man" can mean any animate or embodied object. Any character basically. The four main types of conflict are:
Man vs Man
Man vs Self
Man vs Nature
Man vs God
The reason slice of life stories seem to "not contain conflict" is because the majority of modern narratives are about man vs man, with some allowance for man vs nature (See: the Martian, Robinson Crusoe, etc).
Slice of lifes though I've found tend to be much more about man vs self-- they aren't necessarily about a battle between opposing characters. The conflict is generated internally.
See: romance stories where the main character is their own worst enemy
