Becky Chambers, who wrote "The Long Road to a Small Angry Planet", which has a lot of stuff going on with gender and sexuality without being a romance, is LGBT
I enjoyed that book enough! It's her debut novel and it does kind of read like fanfiction sometimes (just stylistically, not as in "i can tell this is thinly disguised fic of another property"), but it was decent
And it apparently has a sequel now, so if you enjoy it, there's more

Welp, for one you have sliding as a combat mechanic (finally) and there's also plenty of leaks that state there will be three active skills per character, a reworked skill tree and interchangeable gun parts (the leaks so far have been very reliable)
