#

i finished it and when i tried a harder difficulty setting i realized i sucked lol

hasty kernel
#

Its hard, yeah

#

Its also easy to fall into the trap of just blasting through alarms

elfin umbra
#

i got too used to have enemies confined into a single room

#

i mean

#

patrolling in one room

#

in higher difficulty settings i kept failing in the mission where ||you have to get the incognita storage thing where you meet the omni people for the first time||

#

it's such a difficulty spike

hasty kernel
#

I just got through that mission

#

By using the most broken tool in Invisible Inc

#

The door

#

Seriously youd think highly trained agents couldnt be foiled by just ... closing the door in their face

#

Wait

#

I just realized

#

I won that mission only because of Reds augment

#

Huh

#

the midway DLC mission is so intense

I think you lose more campaigns at that mission than in the final one

hasty kernel
#

Reds version of herself reduces armour, right?

hearty isle
#

yes ^^

#

both armour and AP of guards is halved, rounded up

hasty kernel

Which is how Monst3r managed to knock that guard out

Which is how I was able to hold one just for one turn longer, enough for the jet to arrive

Neat

Especially since I ran out of rewinds

The closest thing to effort I'll do is roast some garlic and then throw it into butter and use that for the spaghetti.

north hamlet

Grill the cheese on its own to make it crispy and put that on your spaghetti

supple terrace

No.

opaque quail
#

If you get a plate of spaghetti and then put parmesan on top and then more spaghetti on that, does it become a cheese sandwich if you pick it all up together to try and eat it.

No, it's just a mess.

the concept of living in california frightens me, it feels like such a different place from the rest of the US gkdfhgkjdfhgkj

#

not in a good or bad way just in a "i feel like if i moved there i would legitimately experience culture shock" way

chilly briar
#

I liked it when I was there, loved nyc tho

#

tbh when I moved to Japan the biggest culture shock I got was from the americans lol

tropic garden
#

japan has been a fairly smooth transition for me other than like. the isolation lol

Probably! But I've also had vague culture shock at... the places I've lived in California.

Why does everyone go to Japan

tropic garden

LA absolutely feels like it's actually the body of some large eldritch monstrosity

well unovven i work here lol

hasty kernel

Oh, thats a ... fair point

tropic garden
#

the japanese government subsidizes english teachers at a really high rate

bc they don't have enough foreigners living here to teach good english

hasty kernel
#

Huh

chilly briar
#

I went there to study for a year, and went recently because my partner lives there for now too

tropic garden

so it's a fairly popular thing for folks with any interest in japanese culture to come here and teach
or like codex to come here and do exchange for a year or two

chilly briar

chilly briar
#

What makes you say that @hasty kernel

hasty kernel
#

Also, got the Omni mission in Invisible Inc with only 2 agents

#

Less of a language barrier, plus Id say the culture shock should be lesser

tropic garden
#

japan
pros: extremely safe in a social sense, good pay/benefits
cons: high language barrier, cultural isolation in a big way, EARTHQUAKES, toxic work culture

canada
pros: like the united states but marginally less wild, all the benefits of nationalized safety nets in a familiar culture and language
cons: has a huge host of political issues all its own, c....cold

#

whether japanese food is a pro or a con for you is a toss-up gdfjgdf

chilly briar
#

depends how willing you are to learn then respective languages in regards to Japan/Korea

rain mortar
#

Not all of Canada is cold Kappa

tropic garden
#

i thought i enjoyed japanese food until i moved here

hasty kernel
#

Yeah

chilly briar
#

I prefer korean food lol

hasty kernel

Besides, cold is manageable

tropic garden
#

and then i realized what i liked was actually chinese food

chilly briar
#

ahahaha

tropic garden
#

the only good japanese foods are the fried ones

hasty kernel
#

There are just a lot of things about Japan that seem like a big problem to me

tropic garden
#

the biggest appeal of japan tbh is the culture of civility

#

because it is really absurdly safe here

#

they have a host of other social problems ofc

#

but a lot of them uhhhhh don't affect foreigners as much

hasty kernel
#

Honestly

#

Canada is also rather very safe, depending on the exact region

tropic garden
#

you could settle in an expat community and as long as you could accept that you'll never really break through the like....foreigner-induced cultural barrier and you can make your peace with that, it's whatever

hasty kernel
#

Like, if moving wasnt a pain and I didnt decide Id rather stay in germany, at least for the time being

north hamlet
#

You say you like Chinese food but there's a billion types of those

hasty kernel
#

Canada was pretty high on my list of places to move to

#

I considered UK once upon a time but hahaha, no

tropic garden
#

Ah yeah, I'm aware, sorry for the generalization

hasty kernel
#

Also, Austria and Swamp Germany

#

But at that point I might as well stay here

tropic garden
#

What I meant was like...adapted versions of Chinese cuisine in America vs Japan

#

which are usually just referred to as "Chinese" unless you go to a specialty restaurant

north hamlet
#

Westernised canto, got it

tropic garden
#

in America Chinese influence is mixed with Japanese and Korean and Thai

#

and you get this weird like frankenstein's monster of a cuisine

hasty kernel
#

A very delicious Frankensteins monster of a cuisine

tropic garden
#

in Japan there's still "Chinese food" but what got kept and what didn't and what changes were and weren't made are different

chilly briar
#

more often than not a food from a country will conform to some various common elements with various outliers

tropic garden
#

Foods we think of as Japanese in America - Ramen, Gyoza - are originally from China

chilly briar
#

i.e. korean food and sesame oils or gochujang

hasty kernel
#

Oh and

north hamlet
#

Also karaage

tropic garden

hasty kernel

north hamlet

I've heard nice things about germany

tropic garden

chilly briar
#

I seem to like learning languages that make me want to die

#

@north hamlet not really, different mindset

tropic garden
#

the flavors are....weird

#

which is my crude foreigner way of saying "harmonious and balanced" hahaha

chilly briar
#

do you like umeboshi v?

north hamlet
#

I assume the actual intent is to be a well rounded sample of fresh local food?

tropic garden
#

nah it's like
flavor profiles and nutrition

#

plus giving a feel of the ~season~

north hamlet
#

Yeah they are big on seasons

tropic garden
#

so it's seasonal vegetables as much as it is like, representations of seasonal vegetables

#

i do actually like umeboshi but in small quantities

chilly briar
#

yeah there are various seasonal sets for washoku

tropic garden
#

there's a lot of symbolic food in washoku too

chilly briar
#

I really like umeboshi lol

#

yeah

tropic garden
#

like how chawanmushi always has the same four ingredients and they all represent something

north hamlet
#

Mmm

chilly briar
#

also there are certain washoku dishes presented during special events / festivals

north hamlet
#

Really leaning into the symbolism and seasonality there

tropic garden
#

washoku generally avoids strong flavors too, except for...salt

#

and umami

north hamlet
#

That's japanese food in a nutshell

hasty kernel
#

Honestly Ive tried japanese food before and it wasnt all that great

#

With few exceptions

#

Mainly Mozzarella

cedar rock
#

Blue and gruyere are my absolute favs

north hamlet
#

Buffalo or not?

hasty kernel
#

Parmesan is fine in small doses

#

But stuff like french cheese, or gouda, or any of that

#

Awful, just awful

north hamlet
#

There's at least two kinds of mozzarella

tropic garden
#

a good parmesan is the closest thing mankind will ever know to ambrosia

north hamlet
#

One of the joys of cheese is the variety

#

Everyone can have at least one they like

#

Unless they're cripplingly lactose intolerant or something

hasty kernel
#

Nah

#

The closest think mankind will ever know to ambrosia is mashed potatoes

ionic viper
#

mozzarella tastes good, but whenever someone buys it i'm grossed out bc the bag

#

it goes squish

hasty kernel
#

Or wild boar bratwurst

north hamlet
#

Good mozzarella is in a tub of brine

hasty kernel
#

Which is hard to come by

north hamlet
#

It's white and stringy and bouncy

hasty kernel
#

But yeah, most cheese sucks, and french cuisine is the worst european cuisine (partially) because of that

cedar rock
#

i wont lie that sounds a little biased

north hamlet
#

We can't be friends anymore

hasty kernel
#

Itd be biased if I said german cuisine was the best

#

Which it isnt

#

Italian is

tropic garden
#

french food legitimately isn't that good and i prefer italian cheese to french generally speaking

#

there are some good foods in french cuisine but honestly the peak of french food is a fresh baguette with slices of brie and cornichons and thats it

#

if someone wants to bring out some pork terrine that's great too

hasty kernel
#

The only good french food is sweets and pastries

ionic viper

in your opinion.

@teal plume @viscid relic @outer nexus
I believe Unity and Unreal both have free tutorials online, building simple games off tutorials is a great place to start, even using pre-made code.
As someone who wants to go into 3D modeling for games, if you want to do art, it is possible to get a Student License for Maya, so long as you don't sell anything you make, but it can be a powerful tool in a portfolio.
I'm also looking to make games, so if y'all ever wanted to team up for a small project, I'd be down!

First, mix the yeast and warm water. Let the yeast blossom like a sand storm in the desert. After ten minutes, add the brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, sietch spice, salt, and eggs. Whisk it all together until your bowl starts to smell like stale spice wine.
