Automata had to drop a few levels in "oddity" and overall "depression" in the story and ending, and i think it helped the game and that's why it clicked in more players.

Playing Nier in 2018 is suffering tbh. DG3 got it a bit better, but suffered from framedrops, hopefully we'll get a remaster or emulate it at stable 30 fps in a couple of years.
