Yeah, people can help you here. First tip: do your best to cheese the AI. It doesn't react too well to quick direction changes. Second tip: win or lose, you'll get through the story and get an ending, so don't be afraid of failure.

imma gush about pyre’s soundtrack and how it relates to the moon touched girl for a bit

so personally, i find that compound time sig (6/8, 12/8, etc) or triplet figures in general are a major part of pyre’s identity

#

(even in dread design, which is in 4/4, is still built in a way to emphasize a figure of 3 notes, going in a 3334 subdivision pattern)

#

and while i may just be a sucker for 6/8 and 12/8 in general, the constant feeling of three in a lot of the music really defines the game (and how it connects with triumvirates being three members 👌)

HOWEVER, the moon touched girl’s theme and all of her motifs meant to remind us of her are specifically 4 note patterns

#

even in Bound Together, clearly in 6/8, the moon touched girl’s section is played in 4/4 (or quadruplets if that’s your thing)

and i really can’t help but feel like that was on purpose, specifically because of who the moon touched girl is, an outcast person who doesn’t really fit in

and that this one person’s character can be so perfectly encapsulated in music by something as simple as an ascending four note pattern rather than the multiple three note patterns found everywhere is absolute genius

Bound together compositionally makes more sense as 12/8 with the moon touched girl section being in 4/4 just because the change is small enough for a conductor to neither change how they conduct also makes it easier to read for the orchestra reading it, also cuts down the amount of measures needed by close to half

i disagree, actually! bound together, imo, is built in 4 bar phrases, and when i listen to it each bar is in 6/8 rather than 12/8

the 4/4 works regardless because it metrically modulates to fit 4 notes in the same amount of time 3 notes usually takes, so the conductor wouldn't have to change their conducting at all

Honestly though any of the songs blessed by Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett are on point. When Transistor came out I flipped my lid, finally a game I could get into and thoroughly enjoy. And then I became a die hard fan of all of the games. Pyre has been so good to listen to and unwind to while playing after a hectic week.

I'd love to see either an animation or costumed performance of Never to Return featuring Tariq and Celeste. I always loved the idea that the music that plays is actively being sung and performed as the liberation rite proceeds by those characters.

Oh good! That’s the name! I didn’t load up yesterday. I ask about thumbs because my friend found a homebrew supplement called Dungeons & Doggies! It has stats for playing dogs as characters. I haven’t read if there are paw issues or not but could work. I can’t remember what Rukey’s paw actually looks like (can he pinch his chin?) but curs could have an over developed dewclaw that works like a thumb. Just move it down a bit. 😉

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Pathfinder/Dnd/Tabletop in general, they just can sometimes result in turns that go on for what feels like eons, though this is partially determined by your party size as well.

Unless you're playing with a party full of people that are like, seasoned with the game and have a very firm grasp of all the mechanics, time not spent advancing their turn is going to be spent questioning how things work and trying to get a more solid understanding of the game for newer players, which have populated most of my recent games.

5e i think is more streamlined in that regard. i don't think i would convert liberation rites exactly but i think the lore would fit well. turns don't usually take that long, although action economy can get messy sometimes. it would be harder to balance rites since it has to be an even fight, but that's alright.

It's cool that more and more people are getting interested, though. I can just get impatient in those like, 6 player games where every turn ends up taking near 45 minutes because out of game conversation is occurring.
