Is there a distinction over time, such as Bertrude's manner of speaking versus Jodariel who's only been around long enough to grow horns versus Hedwyn who seems to be relatively recent? Can Saharian change over such a period of time? If Latin is the seed does it mean that the written word holds a higher value over the tone and pronunciation (i.e. Apple means "apple" no matter how you write it) or it is based primarily on the tone and pronunciation?

Uhh ok first what's taken from Latin
The words are largely derived from Latin in a way that keeps them familiar to the English ear. "Rambudias", for example, sounds to our ears like "rambunctious", which fits the Tempers. That's to keep Sahrian sounding familiar enough to understand on some level, but also a little exotic.
Vowel pronunciations tend to stick to Romance pronunciations - clear ah, ee, oo, eh, oh
Characters do speak with accents and dialects
This is most obvious in how they address the Reader specifically, but can be heard in their speech as well if you analyze it closely. Vowel sounds and endings change in ways that don't always seem grammatical
Sahrian is the language of the Commonwealth, and has been for hundreds of years. English is a dead language preserved only in reading.
We aren't certain that there IS such a thing as written Sahrian
Literacy is banned, and writing and reading are "the old ways", generally done in English
Btw Greg has confirmed accents and dialects that's not just me spouting off

The process goes
Write down what i hear -> find something that sounds familiar -> look at English lines -> decide if it's likely that any words in the spoken line correspond to the Sahrian line
If they don't, they don't, but often there are words that jump out. "Strale" in a line about the stars, for example

If anything, I wonder how accurate Sahrian to English is. We as the player get a direct translation, but the spoken phrases seem to contain more content and meaning. If the translations are 100%, then what does that mean for the language? Is it significantly advanced and efficient or just make our lives much more difficult?

having people's class-specializations follow the optimizatioon growth trees
things like attemps at blocking etc can be immediate actions
which go by direct roll. blocks probably based on agility/dex
things like throwing the orb can be based on str or dex, depending on player distance/intent
I'd probably use a hex-based mat, to allow for the directionality
and rough it out into an oval basketball field
the obstacles per each location's map can be post-its

so , since you liberated the old one (jodi ?) before learning about her , she won t be there to tell you about it , unless other characters give you bits and pieces
but -- other exiles you kept until the very last few liberation rites for example ,, they at some point tell you a bit about their past and such
so it mostly depends on whom you keep around , and you can always start a new playthrough
I see. I'm kind of sad that I didn't get to know her better. Maybe her Bloodborder comrade will tell me more. : )
Alright, the second thing I'm curious about is the order in which I liberate them. Does it affect the plan or the outcome, the "ending" let's say.. ?

yeah, the game will give you a sense of pacing too. On my playthrough I really kicked myself when I lost an important match and lost a chance at a liberation, because I didn't know how many chances there would be total -- but just rolling with the story & what happens is great
