i can search blogs jsut fine aside from yours
oh i can't search blogs at all usually
"Big gap of time that can't be accounted for because red took high speed vehicles "
Maybe motorcycles are slow in cloudbank
Seems like a very pedestrian world
slower than moving on foot?
the blocks are very small
boxer comments on how many blocks you've walked in a few places
Dunno I just like the idea of the motorcycle making all those cool noises and boxer giving a big speech but actually it's just going at snails pace
The parallax doesn't make sense but whatever
I'm incredibly enamoured by Red's "oh shut up already" - I wonder what the idea was behind that
good question
it wouldn't make sense in the ending (her tone is too "done with this 💩") but that's the only place a voiced line could happen, since she can't speak during the rest of the game
"Throwaway text"?? Nothing in Transistor is throwaway, it all contributes to the story ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
A bit late to this part of the conversation but I like to think that the country works for a few different situations in the confines of the world of transistor. The most obvious is where people go when they die as many people refer to meeting in the country. But it also seems to work simply for retirement, on some level I can even see those being interchangeable with eachother as in the city of cloudbank where you can be anything and do anything why would you decide to do nothing? If you wanna try to bring in the fact that transistor takes place in some form of post singularity world or is a simulation what it actually means to go to the country can get a lot more blurred.
Personally I like to think that this more like tron where is a world within a computer with sentient AI of some sort in which case I see going to the country as there "code" being brought to a more basic level. There are some conflicting lines i believe where they say you dont just visit the country (Royce) but then they also act like you can visit (boxer) if I'm remember correctly. That would also kind of explain where they are in the transistor fighting as they are resorted to there more basic code?
This is probably pretty off base but this is my opinion from the lore I've been able to understand and gather
I have this headcanon that the reason that Boxer is unusually chill about the idea of the country and skipping town, coupled with how he's a bit mysterious and the 'system' doesn't really know anything about him, is that he's not originally from Cloudbank at all, but came in from another city (server? instance?) via the Country. Maybe it's a bit hacky and not really supposed to be possible, but he got away with it...
That kind of works with the tron feel I get from the world too lol
Do you all think transistors so sort of digital world/ simulation or do you think it's more like a post singularity matrix deal with real people logging in?
I personally really dont like the idea of the latter because to me it cheapens a lot of the decisions made by the characters throughout the game such as when grant and Asher commit suicide to be together in the country along with red in the end. It also makes all the citizens of cloudbank staying in the city as it burns less impactful cause they dont loss anything when they can just wake up in the real world. (Which in this conception of the world would be the country)
I'm also a huge sucker for the idea of AI achieving their own volition and the idea that love is universal.
i personally think its a digital world
i think it might be a little bit of both - life in the city is somehow considered preferable to whatever the alternative, but there's nothing scary about going to the County, just sad, like something's over. maybe if there is an outside world there's just not a lot going on there any more with the option to live the best of your life virtually
I can see that definitely
I like to imagine that it's a "real" world where technology and humanity are so intertwined that they're indistinguishable from one another, but I'll accept "Matrix"-type explanations or "they're personified computer programs" as long as the consequences of everything are still accepted as real and final, because like you said, lamo, otherwise it starts to kinda feel like "oh well they/that world wasn't real" and it loses some of its impact
honestly that's the thing that's most important to me, above and beyond the actual nature of Cloudbank - is that, whatever theory is put out there, the characters are still real and conscious and alive, and the end of that world is consequential and final.
recursion theories aside.
Is there any plans for a digital release on Xbox one?
check the #480043381888647168 !
My head cannon is that the country is just what they call the afterlife, but the transistor has been shaped by Mr nobody to resemble a countryside house for comfort
@primal glacier yay someone else who knows tron and transistor
Yeah I really like the athstetics of both though I never really got too into tron
Have yall figured out the transistor alphabet yet? Is it just a cipher or is it random
It's just random. Greg's said as much at one point, that they kinda just wanted to use an atmospheric blend of ASCII symbols
it's Aesthetic
I wanna speak transistor ;-;
Æåšğľ
Aesthetic
beep boop
So I just read through all of the meta, and I wanted to throw my own ideas into the pot:
You look at red, and you kind of understand where boxer and Sybil are coming from tbh
Like, flip through the promo art and tell me you wouldn’t take a sword to the gut for that.
Not even just looks (although jfc everyone looks so nice)
Her voice is gorgeous, and she was trying to make a real difference
She took her natural gift of singing and used it for good
Music so emotional it could start a riot
One of the prettiest games
And now for something completely different.
AHHH IT'S BEAUTIFUL!
Her eyes look milky yet bold at the same time
Yeah, not sure why the artist didn't give her pupils but that's a minor gripe, she's gorgeous
omg
Like, I know that I’ve already said it, but I completely get where boxer and Sybil we’re coming from
Totally
transistor timeline update:
at the beginning of the game, there is 1 transistor
at the climactic final battle there are 2 transistors
the amount of transistors have doubled
therefore, the events of transistor take about 2 years
because of moore's law
Kinda late to the lore party, but I would just like to share my thoughts :).
I'm under the impression that the Country is the "real world", and you only have one shot in Cloudbank. If you die in Cloudbank, you end up back in the real world with no way back, so it's a litteral afterlife, sort of. Everyone joins from a wide range of backgrounds (as seen in the various traces), but once you go back to the Country, you can't come back.
You can't visit the Country, because there is no returning to Cloudbank. Maybe Cloudbank is some sort of test, who knows?
But, when people are killed by the Transistor, they are instead trapped inside, instead of returning to the Country, basically permanently "killing" them, as there is no escape.
Just a thought.
Interesting. So the process ties into that how? Is it a brain-frying virus? 🤕
the confusing part about the country to me is that boxer seems to have directions to it
Where did "boxer" come from again? I haven't played in a hot min, but I thought everyone always referred to him as Unknown or Mr. Nobody?
(personally I am sticking to Mr. Nobody, just cause it has a great ring to me)
he wears tape on his hands like a boxer would i guess
hm
maybe
i like to think of them as complementary colors
and he tends to 'cool' her down at times
i'm preparing myself to try and tackle lore but it's so open (which is the beauty of it)
i love the world of transistor even if it doesn't make sense sometimes
lol
I just really like Mr. Nobody. It just sings to me 😅
Maybe I'll call him "Annoyance" or "The unforseen complication" if I ever get around to the Royce cosplay
this channel is like
flashbacks galore
my brother and I talked about all the characters in Transistor for a period of MONTHS
esp. Royce
I feel it
Honestly I love all the characters in transistor, they're all so well thought out and interesting... But then again i could say that about pyre and bastion too and, so far, hades
i ramble sometimes so feel free to stop me
but Royce is so good because he's not a 'villian'
he's a DORK
he tries to be the Big Bad but he's an IT nerd with too much time
i'm sure i'll go over to the Pyre channel to talk about them too but ROYCE FIRST
But I love discussing the camerata, their ideals and conflicts interest me
i was legitimately crushed when i found asher and grant
Like they fully believe they were doing good and then
the story itself is like an inversion of conflict: each major incident is depersonalized, dehumanized, emotionless
Yes oh my god I love the Kendralls
until you get to Royce, who is the epitome of 'i'm doing this for your own good'
I wish i could hang out with Grant
he seems like a cool older professor type who always has mints hidden in his coat
Lmao yes
I always wanna know more about what was going on in their heads
I just wanna give the Kendralls a hug, honestly
my first playthrough, i didn't get it
I was so hype for a real face-to-face talk, to finally figure it out
but Asher keeps talking to you on the...console things
My first play through I stopped after Sybil and didn't pick it up again for like 2 years because I was like... I dunno what happened but I just wasn't in it y'know
Then I sat down and played it twice in one go
asher's console lines are great because red finally gets to talk back
Yes!
after knowing what lies at the top of the tower, playing through a second time and listening to Asher's voice was devastating
It's so heart breaking
SGG voice acting in general man
rip grant
nah the cat lives
what happens to those who got processed but not integrated
I imagine they either lose their existence or become a part of some hive mind
what about the Men
i know they're part of the process but they seem pretty...unique
one of my vague theories was that as you progress through the game, the process is getting 'better' at creating beings
i think lore says that they're process imitating people
the lore text from the limiters
yeah Cloudbank seems real empty
Cloudbank used to have swarms of people
It was such a pretty city
"Never seen Goldwalk cleared out"
i should play through again to catch myself up
I really wanna try junction jan's
Playing again just because!
sometimes it does feel really lonely because there's no characters besides the Transistor voice
then you get Royce and it's just...oh. you're kind of annoying.
(i still like him but he TALKS)
I'm thinking about Asher pretty much already being dead (Like about to drink the wine) when you start talking to him and I'm having a lot of feels
Royce and his ranting is... hoo boy
big moods right here
pretty much transistor in a nutshell
Also weirdly painful in a way? A genius driven mad by the knowledge of what he's done kinda thing
esp because Grant and Asher were the public face of the Camerata
well, all of them except for Royce
it's literally 3 marketing people and 1 poor IT guy
I just have a lot of feelings for the camerata
Sgg have this tendency to make their villains so relateable and human and just interesting
You can't just hate them because they're villains because they start explaining stuff and then you're like "oh..."
I need to stop I'm getting too many feels
they're not even clearly villains
Sybil is clearly just...troubled by her lot
Sybil is just..... infatuated
the Camerata start out very aggressive and end up being people
and Pyre doesn't have clear-cut villains until nearer to the end, in which case 'a whole society' is a bit large to consider a villain
Yes! Like all sgg villains! That's what makes them so interesting
Bastion is all fun and games and then BAM feels
Honestly the number of times I've cried because of sgg is too many to count
like if u crei every tim
i think transistor got me more because the characters were established
having the Reader in Pyre was more of a disconnect for me
It was the first game I played that allowed me to use my correct pronouns so I felt a lot more immersed in pyre than I ever thought i would be
Honestly, I was not totally in the Transistor until the very end. I've played Bastion and Transistor late (2016 if I recall).
I assumed that since Bastion allowed you to choose your ending that the same thing would happened at the end of Transistor.
When Red just raised the Transistor, I was waiting for a command input, like... "it's now the time to choose my ending".
... NOPE 😄
actually? same
Yeah I understand that
i totally was expecting a prompt to 'wait' or not insert the sword--and I haven't even played Bastion
The little detail I love though is Royce talking to you instead of boxer when you restart, that always gets me
That's one of the only big things that I thought was missing from Transistor
The classic Supergiant Big Decision
You get 2 of them in Bastion, and I guess 7 of them in Pyre
tm
I though that maybe, replying the game would change the ending of transistor, allowing me to choose the ending. I was wrong again and took a second strike to the heart 😄
just like red
Well, 2 big choices in Bastion, with 2 options each, yeah
I actually thought that there would be an ending if Royce beats you in the final battle
that would be really cool
Omg me too!
Like, that's it for Red, she's got to live i n the Country, and Royce gets the city
maybe see him reconstruct it
in his own image
City's a canvas, and he's got himself the brush
I don't know if he would leave it blank, never-ever changing since it was the camerata's will in the first place : to stop the town from changing constantly to the will of its citizen
I think the fact that transistor doesn't have a choice makes it a stronger game
The story isn't about the player, it's about red
It's nice to have "your story", that's what makes pyre great, but there's other options
Yea, its just when they force it to be your story that it can get draining
and it is refreshing to see a game that does it so well
God I'm so happy that I joined this server and see so many other people feel the same way about SGG's things ;w;
I love Transistor so much
@ancient furnace welcome :V
This is the place where we all become one
:V
https://twitter.com/ThatOneNegraux/status/1071298048251359233 this is something royce bracket would absolutely do
Yes
OH MY GOD
Sybil Reisz does extremely gay
this is literally why the game's events start
imma get that transistor figurine for christmas, hell yeah
It's so cute and has a very special place in my lounge
Heeheehee
Sybil mannn
I agree
Hi guys. I'm new. Finished transistor yesterday. Loved it. One of my favourite games now.
Let's be real, this game is probably the most depressing of the sg games (i haven't played Hades yet)
i think that could differ a good bit between how you interpret the endings
pyre could also seem pretty damn depressing
love me those bittersweet endings 😋
oh yea
If I am not lying on the couch contemplating the ending on the verge of tears then what's the point
Paper Boats triggers a pavlovian response in me such that I can't listen to the Transistor soundtrack like a normal person
Those first few notes play and I'm bawling
same here tbh
In Circles does it for me
any of the songs with vocals from this game give me shivers still
buying the album on vinyl was one of the best purchases ive made
idk if I could ever pick a favorite
Old friends or We all become does it for me
Gateless!!!
I can't pick a favourite, the album(and She Shines) is just amazing. I never regret about buying the CD and digital files.
My classmate asked me what was my favourite one, I probably nominated 3/4 of the album
"Hi. You turned left..."
Just gah I almost screamed it's just
Such a good moment
See also: Blank Canvas
It's canon that whenever Blue hears Blank Canvas, Red is humming Paper Boats 🙃
@waxen saffron I have the soundtrack on CD too
I have all three games' soundtracks on CD
And I plan to get Hades's too
This game is alright
@young cedar is the cd art cool? I was wondering yesterday in buying both transistor and pyre cds 👏
And maybe a t-shirt
_n c_rcl_s makes me cry real baby tears every time because I think of Sybil trying to sing it and I too am gay and in pain
It just hurts because then I think about her lines after you fight her and how she's just crawling on the ground and how much she adores red but in the worst possible way because she thought she could own her and
I love Sybil ok
Impossible also gets me because I think about all of Royce's lines and the desperation in his voice when you beat him
Honestly anything that makes me think about the camerata makes me cry, hecc you, SGG

yeah that crawl is too much(
When I was fighting Roy I accidentally chose like one or two powers (and it was the most basic two)
I still won tho
something special about impossible
it's so upbeat and classy for final boss music
while also emitting emergency, like instrumentation tries to catch up to itself
very unique for rpgs
hell, for games in general
it really stands out
no to mention it has royce version variation
it's just awesome
yeah
yeah
think i like upbeat boss music
are you all going to sleep on The Spine
that sounds uncomfortable
I'd rather sleep on the floor, sleeping on the spine doesn't sound pleasant at all
the sparkle and shine and light inside really wakes me up yeah
Pfffft
I find for me all the supergiant osts are amazing, but it's the songs the subvert the rest of the soundtracks for their respective games that I really end up loving
Like Terminal March, Impossible, Thrash Pack, etc.
Idk how I feel about the ending of the game ;-;
🇫
yknow in retrospect the ending of transistor was kinda predictable and yet you dont see it coming
you just refuse to see it coming after all you've been through
I pretty much picked up on it with the "they can't come back" line tbh
My first time playing the game I had finished it past midnight, with Red at level 11, and all of the negative effects turned on.
This next part is most important. I didn't know that they were negative effects, so I turned on every one of them and didn't read through it.
I didn't question why the game was harder as I went along either, cause it was my first time playing through it, and it made my experience with the game the most rewarding. I only had found out the effects were negative my second playthrough of the game, cause I actually read through what all of the story that i missed by not reading the texts.

have you reached 100% steam achievements?
I have!
SEGA
But it increases your faith
ahhhhhh, so I may find some people who also like these products to share the cost
I remember there was a transistor like U disk in their store.
But last month I browsed their store I found it was sold out…the only thing I hope now is that these cds won't sell out…
thinking about Transistor makes me feel so peaceful
@young cedar awesome! Thanks!
@gusty viper the CDs won't sell out, I'm pretty sure
if they do I'll be a sad Luxio indeed
Hey was it ever announced as to who won the Volpin Props transistor giveaway
if not can it be me
Hey @foggy fable ! It was actually! You can find the winners and some sweet picture of them with their props in our Blast! from November. 😄
Where can we find past Blast issues?
You can view them through any Blast! you receive; there's a link listed at the bottom to view them.
I just wish it was easier to ship from your store to Canada. The import fees... shudder
Just bought transistor cd and pyre😃 . Hope they arrive safely 🙏
nice!
which one are you looking forward most to listening to 👀
personally if I had both of them idk which I would listen to more. Probly just swap them out a ton
I only have the transistor ost on vinyl right now but I'm hoping to pick up pyre's soon too
I'm constantly telling my friends how much I love this game, but I'm trying to find the perfect way to describe the gameplay
a turn-based hack-and-slash
its just "the action of trying to move out" thats just what its like
hgfhjfj roguelite, i think people were saying
it's not a roguelite
A Turn()-based Crash()-and-Breach()
@upbeat sky I love you
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough, I didn't expect such fast answers X)
Gameplay-wise, how the functions all have active, upgrade, and passive uses, and the capabilities of them are only limited by your own creativity
would the word be "versatility?"
sure
i don't know how important it is to emphasize that aspect to someone who's never seen it
gotta be simple about it
yeah i know, i already went into great lengths about everything else in the game to my friends who will listen X)
this is more about me having a dictionary for a brain, or trying to anyways. i can't think of the word for it and it's bugging me to death
but yeah, the active/passive upgrades are more customization than versatility
no one moveset is inherently better than any other
you tweak your loadout based on your playstyle and the situation at hand
gosh i love it so much
i actually just discovered something that i swear was overlooked by the devs
it's Void() with Tap() and Purge(). i know it doesn't sound good,
but putting Tap on Void gives it 1 damage and 20% lifesteal. Purge deals 70 damage when you put it on Void
you heal way more than should be ok if you use this on anybody
is this just crazy to me, or what?
There's some pretty broken stuff with function combos
void is kinda broken in general imo
so you know how there's combos you can do that it tells you in Turn()? what does it mean when it says Shifted?
It means that the enemy has changed position
huh. don't know what i was expecting. thanks
So if you use Get() twice in a row, the second time will say Shifted and the damage will go way down because now the enemy is right up against you
that's what YoungLady does
if they're affected by shifted, does your next attack's damage go up? obviously not Get(), but you know
I remembered that I missed quite a lot during they're shifted, They're not "there" you see. The other evidence is that there is a function that blows up enemies in the air, you will likely to miss your attacks while they're still levitating.
@full peak No
Shifted isn't an effect
It just means their position will be different from what you see in Turn() at that moment
ah, thanks
Void() is OP because it's Asher and Asher is the best ❤
Crash() is the best
@weary heron probably "paper boats" because i was like "wow. This game was awesome" in the ending. 😅
Void() + Tap() is such a good combo because it's the Kendralls working really well together ;_;
the feels ;-;
’babe you really know how to murder people.’
‘Omg stop it you’re making me blush.’
Void tap is op
I like combining void() and help()
Luna
Blue: "Hey Luna"
Me: cri
someone should make a virtual reality room of the sandbox
id just lay there and listen to coasting alllll day
Live wallpaper of luna in sandbox anyone?
I see the spine
of the world~
Could anyone please teach me how to lauch Transistor borderless so resolution wouldn't change after alt+tab?
I've tried -noborder at lauch options but that didn't work.
Oh, /noborder worked. Thanks!
OR NOT.
Any help would be welcome : D.
I didn't understand where insert /NoBorder=true launch option... Feeling dumb.
So do we k ow what The Spine is, or is it just headcannon? Because mine is that the process just turned a whole skyscraper/ big art piece(since we know it was some big landmark from the song) into a processed creature
There are at least two Spines, so either they processed more than one skyscraper, or it's produced from whatever makes the rest of the Process units. And assuming the latter... what was its original purpose
my headcanon's always been that the spine of the song is a metaphor
and the process spine is the process taking inspiration from that
Creepy as hell is what the spine is
from the limiter logs, the process only made man once it had seen enough people
so the process observes people and builds off of that
wonder what their main template was, though...
what do you mean? I think the original process are those wobbly sticks with healing, if that's what you mean
Royce did theorize that those were one of the oldest forms in the lore section
yeah exactly
So do we k ow what The Spine is
process ... what was its original purpose
We know that people living in Cloudbank could essentially vote on reality. Control the weather, buildings and who knows what else. Since this process was automated, an AI system probably took care of all the heavy lifting behind the scenes.
If this AI Process built things semi-autonomously, it would be reasonable to start with predictable and relatively uncomplicated structures. Smaller things, then buildings and from there, it's just a matter of scaling up. Eventually, it figured out how to imperfectly replicate life, possibly through the Camerata trying to hijack the Process for their own means.
Yeah- some of the limiter files imply various forms' practical purpose (e.g. Jerks being for paving) so I'm like... what was the Spine's job
What if it was like a metro train
@pulsar lily to be an arse
So what y’all are saying is is that the process is essentially one of those neural networks that people have generate Pokemon names for fun https://kotaku.com/computer-learns-to-create-its-own-pokemon-and-theyre-g-1793973256
The only correct last achievement to get
https://i.imgur.com/cyAMPvw.png
Goodbye() was the last achievement i unlocked
The most busted combo in the game is straight up Help() + Tap()
Combine that with Jaunt() and you're just invincible
Oh Void is absolutely busted
life steal triggering on every DoT tick from purge
impossible to die
Unless you want to
Ah I haven't tried that with purge
Void(Purge, Tap)
Tried it with a few other functions to great effect tho
Yeah if you upgrade void with get and crash you can infinitely stunlock entire encounters. You can basically cheese the whole game.
Yup.
how much of the story was revealed if you replay transistor?
maybe the spine is for building larger structures that require more support in the early stages, then the other process builds around it, kind of like scaffolding
I can't remember because I'm frantically trying to study but the most broken thing I've done was... I think load + jaunt + mask
Drop infinite bombs that make you invincible and detonate instantly, even in turn recovery
Spam frantically to regain health
Load + mask itself is broken, but load + mask + jaunt makes it detonate without being hit, so you can drop it and run
Sooooo good
broken??
broken like the bones of the Spine when you're done with it
Is it possible at all given the success of the Switch release that we could someday get Funkos of Red?
lil plug for a Sybil card
not mine but heck it's sybil
wink
annnd bought it
OOOOH
there are a few funkos I actually like, and the HQ store is a couple blocks from my work so occasionally I walk there on lunch just for fun
but yeah I'd rather have the Red figure we've already got
actually... non-human characters tend to make better Funkos- if they were to make anything from trna into one I'd want it to be a process
but aren't those usually just giant square heads with tiny bodies?? A lot of the Process are round or round-ish, aren't they? Like the Cells and Hairballs, and even the Jerks are kind hunched-over, aren't they?
occasionally there's round (source: the BB-8 sitting on my kitchen counter)
i just started playing transistor for the first time and wow it's so pretty 😱
was streaming it for a friend so they can also watch ahaha
didn't get very far but i can't wait to play more when we both have time \o/
Same!! Transistor was my first SGG game and will always hold a special place in my heart
It’s really wonderful. Play with good headphones!
Not gonna lie - I would love Red and Transistor to be on SSB...
dude, saaaaame. pretty much all supergiant protagonists have moves that would translate really well to a smash game
except maybe for pyre characters since they don't technically "fight"
But Funko is not owned by Nintendo @fluid mica
Nintendo makes Amibos
And they are actually pretty good
and cheap
@small mountain There are a lot of characters in Smash that dont fight
in usual sense
Villager
Red in smash is a pipe dream of mine
Hopefully as an extra spirit if not a fighter
if red is a spirit, which existing smash ultimate character would they choose to represent her
Lucina maybe?
Gender would be wrong but shulk might work too???
and of course more than anything this is all a reminder that i am lowkey yet unrepentant red/royce garbage
oh
If any Supergiant character's gonna make it into Smash, it'll probably be the kid.
this was a conversation for the wrong server lmfao
Would mark the first indie character to make it
LMAO
LOOK THEY'RE RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER
the icons are the same half the people are the same... 😭
dont shame me alma
The Kid and/or Red would do well in Smash imo
upper b, would be a nice cull() 👀
I'd picture her as a zoning character with slow run speed
but jaunt() is there to compensate to have burst movement
get() is of course a tether grab, but it's not usable to grab ledges
crash() would be her d-smash or f-smash
breach() her neutral-B, relatively high start-up but very fast projectile speed, a reliable kill move, but it can't be angled
Anybody knows if i can get the achievements on steam offline? I should have got some but didn't
I think if you complete some achievements while Steam is offline, you should get them after starting up the game with Steam online
But it doesn't always work from the first time for some games
Sometimes you don't get them until you complete other achievements (while online) or something along those lines
sometimes when I'm in Transistor my keyboard stops working. Is there a fix for this?
and if I alt-tab out of the game I can't get back in and I have to force quit
It glitched in the middle of the Sybil battle so I had to quit and start over
I love this game, but I can't play it like this 😦
@young yew thanks. i found out you only get the achievements online. You have to get a similar achievement online for the game to realize that you got it offline. I got lvl 16 achiev. when getting lvl 20 online for example. 😅 Except for the ones of the story i only got the first one replaying it online.
puts trna praise in trna channel
Listening to the Transistor soundtrack today, and just wanted to say that it is still really good.
And the way the extended album ends is totally sad
Oh dang, I hope StyxBot didn't get taken over by The Process?! Did the Camerata get you StyxBot?!?!
The city's a blank canvas... and Styxbot has the brush
what is this extended album and where can i find it
!!!! It's the same tracks, but with Red humming. The tracks where she sings are instrumentals. and there's 3 more tracks at the end that are processed versions of Vanishing Point, Gold Leaf and In Circles
and _n C_rcl_s is all her going "annd iiiiiiiiii cann'''t saaavvee yoooouuuu"
you get it alongside the original soundtrack on steam, at least
it's on Google Play music, Youtube, probalby Spotify
anywhere they sell the other soundtrack albums
also the hummed version of "blank canvas" has red humming to "paper boats" on top
oh god, yeah, oooooffffffff
o:
see you in the country, styxbot
"Seconds march into the past..."
And moments pass
just like that....a chain was started
and finished
this is so sad, alexa play paper boats
man, every time the “seeing red” remix comes up on my phone i get All the transistor feels
which is impressive considering it contains exactly one line of dialogue left intact
If Supergiant told me that I could get a happy ending with 1000 playthroughs of the game, I'd do it.
its been like what 4 years and transistor still has the best game trailer on Steam
If "Seeing Red" is what I think you're talking about.....SO MANY FEEEEELS. 😭 😭 😭
Oh, what happened to Styxbot in here? :o
styxbot had a moment of going rogue and putting vote emotes on every message ever
Amazing
the styxbot can't be stopped... can't be stopped
but, the styxbot can be impelled to simply... go away
ksagfhf
apparently, she shines was built for something for the apple tv port. does anyone have video or knowledge of what that is?
"'She Shines' is the centerpiece of a new interactive download experience used when the game streams in data."
except i cant find a single thing about that
I first played on Apple TV, I don’t know what that is referencing
do you know where exactly she shines is located?
what is She Shines?
A song not in game
it was a bonus track that was added with the apple tv port
O:
Look it up, it’s very good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnAVesicISs
also i just stumbled across this
SPOILER WARNING. Don't watch this video or download the mod if you haven't already completed the vanilla version of Transistor. Happy birthday, Transistor! I...
v cool
@topaz glen I will!! also i love your username 😅
mmmm i know this song is personifying parts of the city but i need all the content to fuel my "Red is bisexual" headcanon, thanks
Thanks, a mod told me to change it from JackTheStripper for obv reasons, but I felt a little cheeky
@graceful cave that looks interesting but modding games that dont have a bunch of official programs around to help me always makes me so nervous haha
yeah it isn't even complete, either
o well
it looks like it's a rlly interesting concept tho
Oh I remember this mod
I added the person who made it a while back on steam and he picked it up again for a bit, but I think life got in the way
Still, hopefully it’s not completely abandoned
i really regret playing transistor on a ps4 controller with a broken R2 trigger...
frantically mashing R2 to enter Turn()
Just got given the transistor vinyl for Christmas, I didn't realise how gorgeous everything looks
Yesss, it's perfect!
I'm glad this exists
hey guys check out my blog! this week we're reviewing transistor to celebrate hades' release
playing transistor now! gotta say i am a bit confused by the gameplay
but its pretty as heck
Where are you and what happened?
i have turned off at the fight with sybile
mostly cause i needed to do something else
Just gifted transistor to a good friend of mine. Now I wait,,,,,,, so I can gush about it to him,,,,
One in the process, one about to begin it and one proccessed and eager
It is interesting........very interesting......
Very, VERY eager!!
I can't wait to go home I think my friend bought me the red figurine
if that's what it is I will cry tears of happiness

h-hewwo mistew woyce bwacket??
Once you start to get the hang of the mechanics, @lavish flower, you'll really start to love it. Just be sure to use the feature that lets you plan your attack beforehand. It makes a HUGE difference. And don't be afraid to experiment with switching out skills and such
ok!! will do
@wintry verge sfheeghjfebjj
I've never seen someone processed like this before.......intewesting......very intewesting......÷w÷
Owo who's gowna go fwirst? How abouwt, me?

cwoudbank...
royce meeting red is essentially that "then perish" obama meme
in cloudbank i mean, not in fairview
for better context
Who's obama in that context?
I think Red just because I really wanna see a Red version of the Obama "then perish" eyes
I thought it was Royce because of the extreme;y uncomfortable closeup on the proxy screen
me: i should try playing with limiters, ive never done that before
me, approx. 5 seconds after: life is pain
you really have to ease into those, they are nasty little penalties
oh boy
excuse me
That was.....an experience
asdfghjkl;
are you okay?
Heck yeah
once you play with all limiters selected for enough time, it's awkward to play without them
I slapped together a no-damage skill set vs Royce once just to see if the game would let me do it
It absolutely did
Just started playing the game and its so confusing yet endearing haha
Is that the dash?
yep
As someone who first fought sibyl with jaunt stuck in a secondary slot, i second that advice
ABJ- always be jaunting
abarchjustice
absjustice
Preston Moyle is the real MVP here
Another one bites the dust
So, after watching this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GlVIE1H_xA) and listening to Sybil's dailogue more carefully, I think I had an epiphany/new hc about what the Transistor is and does
Specifically, it's the fact that at some point, Sybil rambles about how "I always wanted to save you" and how she nearly managed it
Given the fact that the setting is full of programmer/computer lingo doublespeak, I think the word choice here is likely deliberate. What if she means save... in that sense?
As in:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/398533152848609281/526545500800024576/unknown.png
Think about it. The whole "issue" the Camerata supposedly have is that "When everything changes, nothing changes", i.e. that Cloudbank is so mutable that it's effectively meaningless. What if it's not just about the fact that the sky doesn't stay the same colour, but about the people? It's safe to say the same thing extends to them. It's not just a philosphical complaint. It's an ephemeral virtual being realising their own mortality.
And what if the Transistor is the only way for individuals to be "saved" across different iterations of Cloudbank? Sure, they may strictly be reduced to their trace data and whatever functions emerge from that, but it's still better than nothing, or so the Camerata think. Which also helps explain why they're so blasé about the string of "disappearances" they've caused. From their perspective, they're cutting short their victims' meaningless existence to offer them a form of immortality.
All along, they were trying to preserve themselves and other notable individuals in Cloudbank inside the Transistor, in order to better manage the Process in the future and in order to preserve themselves into future versions.
(Not sure if this is completely out there or "obvious" but the 'master plan' of the Camerata and their motivations never fully clicked for me, but I think they make sense now)
or to put it in kind of silly terms
The Camerata are a bunch of Sims who've figured out they're in a simulation, will stop existing (completely, not just die) in due time, and have found a way to hack the "save as" button from inside the game : D
hmm that seems a bit far out there
there's definitely an element of preservation and of "not really dead"
i think sybil wanting to save red refers to her (implied) betrayal
where she gives the camerata misleading information so that red doesn't get hit with a sword
Yeah it does seem like a bit of a reach. Iirc the rationale for using the transitior to kill notable ppl was to use their genius to better the city with the process, which makes sense to me re: the rest of the narrative. I do think that the game hints that more of the city is mutable than you'd first expect when you get to Fairview and see how the process can change euclidean geometry and the direction of gravity, then again when you enter recursive mode, we're forced to ask to what extent does reality exist and to what extent is it just the Process. I don't think those questions change the narrative or the motives or the Camarata tho, I think it's playing on the trans humanism themes.
Also yeah, I thought Sybil saving Red was lying to the rest of the Camarata so Red wasn't killed
That is an interesting way of looking at it. I can’t say I really ascribe to any particular interpretation over another but I do like that one, you’ve put some good thought into it
@wraith willow The bit about "saving" is very intriguing, but I think I don't agree with the idea that the inhabitants of cloudbank are AI constructs or disembodied consciousnesses in the virtual environment. The stasis pods in the Royce fight seem to me to suggest the humans behind the Cloudbank "profiles' are rather in long term sleep or some other fom of suspended animation. Excuse me if I've misunerstood what you're sugesting.
I think the element of "not really dead" comes from the living humans behind the avatars in the virtual environment of cloudbank simply unplugging and being ejected into the comparatively dreary real world. Sort of like getting your extensive and carefully crafted social media presence wiped if it's your only means of interacting with others.
If anything I think "saving" people with the transistor amounts to archiving their Cloudbank "profiles" and possibly using those together with something like NPC constructs to create a city populated entirely by bots wearing the "profiles" of notable people, and ruled over by the Camerata - a totally lifeless and sterile non-society.
(top game is ruiner btw)
something about the motorcycle is so... free
Many factors, but mostly Transistor, made me want to learn to ride a motorcycle
Oh, absolutely - I'm not saying this is THE explanation for the Transistor plot, a lot of things are kept quite vague on purpose. But afaik the idea of them all being some sort of digital construct is a popular and valid one, so within that idea, I think this is what makes sense to me, personally.
(Re my ramble yesterday and the responses)
I love that the game is four years old and yet still has people talking/thinking/playing ❤
it took me 3 replays of transistor to understand that red typing and deleting her comments in the ovc terminals is her only way to communicate properly
i thought she was just trying to figure out what to say
but how can the sword bf read that if his eye is at like, waist height
Even after three replays I never connected the little beach pocket environment (Sandbox) with Sybil, until someone pointed me toward the connections it has with her, how it's likely her private retreat.
I forget what it's called.
sandbox?
Right, that's it
I wouldn't have ever made the sandbox/Sybil connection if someone didn't point it out to me
Discord, why do you think that's a link
you unlock it after killing her
Well yeah, I understand it now
do you think the other camerata members have their own?
sybil's got a tree with doors or whatever, but royce's is more like a debug room with more upside down parts
asher's room has a bunch of cat toys
I need Asher's cat room in my life
Asher takes Grant on a date. He says it's a picnic. Grant gets there and it's just Asher feeding treats to his cats. There's no human food
XD
My hc about the Sandbox is that Royce initially made it and it was just kind of... a space. Then when Sybil joined she was like “this is boring” and started making suggestions to pretty it up, and Royce just kind of went with it bc he trusted her opinions
Royce doesn't need a Sandbox, he has all of Fairview
Yeah but sometimes you wanna sit on the beach without risking unsightly tan lines XD
Yea, I tried that
but like, I could never get a satisfying 1-shot
I was thinking of a combination of cull, smash (or w/e the name of the first skill is), and cluster
I mean VOID
With those two other as subs
So that I only have to use Void twice to get max boost
Void (crash + cluster) and Cull (I forgot what the subs were)
I've been wanting to toy with a pause-less build
With 2 skills having jaunt as subs
I think I one-shot him before using void+get+flood and cull+purge+something
Get() makes Void() just so much better
Yea but what's a ng plus build that makes it fun instead of tedious i wonder
Weaponized jaunt?
Using ghost and then some power moves is fun out of turn
I accidentally one-shotted him (well, took out one health bar) on my first turn once, I forgot I had Help() as a passive and superuser kicked in on my first turn... 500 damage right off the bat
I think his health bars only have about 500hp anyway so anything that can stack over that in a turn will do it
Real women Ping(Jaunt+Ping) him to death out of turn
And in turn
That was a fun experiment... I just machinegunned him into oblivion with suped-up Pings. Fill up the bar in turn, then chase him around and keep hitting him out of turn, repeat.
It was very noisy.
most powerful "hey" in any game ever
or was it hi
welp time to go replay transistor again
slkfsdfl
whatever it was it was powerful
oooooo
dkefjdnd my friend was watching me stream and we were both like noooo
now we're playing monster prom to drown out sadness fijfjf
ye
i accidentally skipped red's house tho Dx so i'll have to replay that and see what's insidejljg
i thought that way would be advancing the plot but then going the other way was the plot part jgljfglh
It's a really cute scene, it's easy to get turned around in cloudbank
I remember that I didn't find the ovc at the bottom of the part where bf says "it's a crossroads" until my 4th or 5th run
i got curious and looked it up bc i think it was the only part i missed fjdlds /enjoys poking at stuff
it was cute 😭
date night
Lol didn't know people called it sword bf
Sea monster’s obviously the only option
haaaa I get it
Where could they have gotten Auden from? Files? Ima stick to Mr. Nobody
auden was the working name for transistor before they'd settled on transistor; that's why a few of the files are named that way
similarly, a couple of pyre's files use the name "ursa" - bastion, on the other hand, has always been bastion
"Auden" is also a variant of the name "Aldwin" which means "old friend"
so
enjoy your feels
Hi, finally got Transistor thanks to sales after having it on wishlist for years, it's pretty damn great so far
@blissful blaze Ursa? For the reader?
I just finished transistor.
Again.
For like, 5th time.
Ending still gives me shivers.
i, too, have been replaying transistor https://i.imgur.com/wPKaJ7J.jpg
Iirc one of the higher-damage overkill message is “do you even read”
-600/10 STOP STOP HES ALREADY DEAD
Yikes XD
omg
Like my fav minor feature in the game, so many giggles
There’s so much subtle detail in the narration/ui
Sword friend has a different comment for each function if you try them out in the free-form part f the sandbox
It is like they put love into their game

The love they put into transistor is so blindingly clear
❤
https://twitter.com/hyperprisms/status/1077624416908050432 some good fanart of woyce bwacket
10/10 good nerd
OOO
🅱 oyce 🅱 racket is the best
I wonder if Audan and Royce switched places how the game would be
Auden*
That might be really adorablr
Just classic opposites attract romance
so what i'm hearing from this is auden/royce, and i wish to subscribe
unless what i'm hearing is actually red/royce, in which case i am already subscribed and wish to renew
Latter
Royce is in the transistor
Auden is the villian with the process
Your interactions with Royce are odd but adorable
He's his logical self with red when he loves her
Auden would be an interesting villian since he could be a silent type or charming villian
Prior histories between transistor characters are always fun
Red and sybil had met before obviously
But what about the others
When she looked up from her microphone at the empty set, the people she saw threatening her with a sword... were her friends
- football dives into the chat, dropping this image dramatically * AAAAA https://www.deviantart.com/sablegear/art/Recursion-Error-597124174
Super short fiction in description!
aaaaa i like how u changed red's coat too
👌👌👌👌
omfg I love red in royce's jacket I WANT MORE
well tbh red in anything is drop-dead gorgeous, but the point stands
I wish this was a thing if you did enough recursions
i believe the term for that is "mod"
I’d love a Royce-voice mod
And you add Pyre Transistor and bastion in EPIC Games stor&
transistor mod that makes royce sound like rick sanchez
bad
i mean it's not too far-fetched is it
royce sanchez
you just know "wubbalubbadubdub" would be his catchphrase
(actual royce bracket voice) this is, well, wubbalubbadubdub
Ehhh ima take a pass on that one
Noooo, I lovelovelove Logan's voice as Red's bf. Very swoon-worthy
the obvious love in the itty bitty details they put into Transistor is one of the reasons it gripped me and fascinated me when so other (fun, and pretty) games failed
Quick question. I bought the Transistor CD Soundtrack, and it's supposed to come with a digital download too. I can't figure out how to get the digital download though
Welp, of course I find out after an hour of searching right after I ask. Nevermind X)
evri tim 😛
Starshadow, I totally feel you. I had watched YouTube LPers go through the first 10 mins of so of the game and Logan’s voice was one of the major things that sold me on getting Transistor for myself XD
He is just so, so good as a VA. Just brilliant, I can't say enough good things. His VA work in Transistor is incredible.
He does a similar voice to Boxer in a point n click adventure game called Primordia
If y'all are looking for more Logan :P
ORLY?
Well hell - and it's currently on sale
@noble portal I am now on my way to shipping Red/Royce and it is your fault...I have such mixed feelings
I normally don't care for wadjet eye games, but I'll check this one out.
It's only two fiddy after all, or thereabouts.
@languid trail MY fault?? It wasn’t even supposed to be shippy art! Blame xel! XD
oh
i'll take that blame
even if i haven't ever actually written anything
...yet
I dunno, Royce thinks he'll go first while Mr. Nobody threw said body away for Red.
oh, royce is wholly undeserving
though now you've got me wondering how to make this happen 🤔
Tried to play primordia, couldn't do it, not even for Logan v/o.
👀
that so
it's a trna ship revolution, look out internet
it's Red Royce Redemption
POLL TIME which red song incited political outrage leasing to her hiatus and why, GO
signals 100%
yes good continue
my brain doesn’t work good enough at this hour to explain the why just *points at lyrics*
fair enough tbh
Signals because that's why it never appears in game
2hot4tv
Oh yeah totally Signals. You nailed it.
I reckon we all become one
Or else a song that isn't on the soundtrack. Presumably her body of work extends beyond what's on the OST.
Either that or in circles
I got the sense that We All Become and Circles were some of her "new" material that she was releasing with her return to the stage
Then it's either in circles or signals then
Signals seems pretty pointed
So does In Circles if you consider maybe cases like Sybil were common with her work
yeah, i've always thought it was signals
hey so.... I have no "proper"/fully realized Red/Royce but here's a chunk of a larger piece that temporarily leans in that direction. For context (ie. I haven't written the rest of this scene), Royce is Sybil's +1 to a swanky OVC holiday party because she has a way of talking him into stuff like that. https://sta.sh/01j6feemb30s
(Red's coat is "modeled" after the SGG christmas card art 😄 )
at which point? he talks to both of them in that scene
yes
Royce seems OOC but I like how it plays overall
ahem, polite reminder that we adhere to rule 1 in keeping critique constructive and asked for, please and thank you
Was it not constructive?
I was under assumption it needed feedback if it didn't I'll just keep my mouth shut then
if feedback is requested, certainly!
anyway!! now that i have a chance to actually comment, sable, akdkgjd you have touched on something i have considered myself, not for the first time
which is that red/royce is..... significantly complicated with sybil's presence
this is why in the post-game country au in my head sybil has found herself a very nice lady who actually returns her feelings
i nominate niola
or perhaps farrah
True, though anyone in the Camerata with any of their victims is a bit…messy
I would very much want to read how that relationship progressed though XD given that, y'know, one killed the other
death seems kinda... different in cloudbank though, doesn't it?
True
"Integrated" them, I suppose
Hit them with a big sword and made them stop existing in Cloudbank 😛
in a way, the real cloudbank was inside them all along
@tough tundra I'm curious, OOC how? You can probably just dm me if you want to go over it
He didn't repeat himself or pause in weird places enough
And he didn't integrate a single person!
Lol I write the repetitions as a vocal tic when he’s excited or agitated
And it’s rude to murder people at parties, duh 🙄
I can't decide whether I like the repetitions being a tic or a symptom of Process sickness
has anyone else seen the post on tumblr comparing the Camerata to the song The Crow, the Owl, and the Dove because I've been thinking about it a lot lately because it just fits
nu my tumblr dash is always random cuz i follow too many people lol
@last parrot personally yeah I'd rather believe the former, that he's just kind of a strange dude
i believe greg once described the most basic idea behind his character as someone who was just entirely immersed in his own world
and certainly there's this weird vague thread of almost like... naivete in him, wrt the camerata's plan, that seems to support that
i think my absolute favorite line of his, esp in terms of delivery, was and still is "What we did was... wrong, in the traditional sense. (a beat, as if acknowledging it for the first time:) In the contemporary sense."
anyway royce bracket sux
Yes but also he's the best garbage
He just seems socially awkward to me
You know, I always thought Grant was Royce's best friend and he felt...not betrayed exactly but really bummed about Grant & Asher because he 'lost' one of his best friends and that's why he's a little mean about Asher during his chat with Red
Royce is a gamer
I think you have to go off the beaten path a bit to prompt it but he does talk about them once or twice
Let me see if I can dig it up sometime today (or anyone else can, if they’re inclined)
I would be interested
he def seems not to really understand where asher comes from on a lot of things
"poor asher, before the end he went and told you our whole plan, didn't he? expecting what, your sympathy? your mercy?"
i have never heard this line somehow
and sable you're right that he frames asher primarily in terms of who he is to grant rather than anyone else
i think it's when you check one of the OVC terminals in fairview?
not sure which one though
ah that wouldnt be surprising
honestly that is how I remember him; who he was to grant
compare to sybil ("everyone knew sybil.") and grant ("i've known grant half my life.")
how old is royce?
somehow i thought he was a little younger. hmm.
he does look a bit younger!
That line always bugged me because it feels so demeaning toward Asher
I feel like a lot of things royce says sound demeaning, if only just cause it's how he talks
like you mentioned kinda lost in his own world
hahahaah yeah, royce is. on the surface he seems quite low-key and cordial but he's really quite arrogant i think
royce moisturizes
royce definitely wears sock garters
lol
though in fairness, re: asher, i think he probably rightly predicted that asher's confessions wouldn't have garnered any sympathy or mercy from red
though i guess that depends on your opinion about whether red would've been willing to try to understand what happened
like maybe if she'd gotten to confront the camerata and was like "put things back the way they were" and they'd been willing and able to be like "okay, here you go" she could've let it go hahahaha
I dont think Asher was looking for mercy or sympathy so much as understanding or just putting the truth out there
but i'm not certain
yeah, royce's assumption is right but i think you're correct in that it's not a fully accurate assumption
maybe he was like "oh maybe asher will do this for that purpose" bc he more or less knew him
and like, what does it say about both asher and royce that royce looks at asher's attempt to apologize/unburden his conscience/help people understand what happened and he goes "what was he trying to get out of you by doing this?"
haha, he's such a jerk
listenign to his audio rips rn and man, that delivery on so much of it 👌
he has that specific quality in his voice that just means you can listen to it forever
smooth, and interesting, sure, but also something I just can't place that keeps me listening
I love Royce, don't get me wrong, but nobody throws shade at my boy
lol
here's where he starts about the others (follow for timestamp, 9:53) https://youtu.be/0DviyuGNeWc?list=PLt37eacUcvPtIfvMT4vjkJh-G7C6yTUem&t=593
I think that also accidentally includes my playlist so... whatever
DON'T LISTEN UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SPOILED FOR TRANSISTOR Someone was really nice to rip all the audio files from the game Transistor, and I set to put toge...
:P
thank you
Is it an unpopular opinion that Royce sounds creepy?
I just know for me it's his mumbling that crawls under my skin a bit
can't find the timestamp for it but he mentions the process is "as old as this town"
that is early on
Like clumsy plotting
yeah I wasn't too keen on his mannerisms the first time around either but I warmed up to him on a replay
mhmm
definitely a unique sound
When you start recursion there's a sinister nature to him copying what Auden said from the beginning
Like it gives the game a deep cyclical nature
bastion had a similar thing
with the "see ya next time, kid" or whatever it exactly was
....really?
yea, if you choose a specific ending
the narrator mentions that near the beginning of the ng+
still haven't done a Bastion re-playthrough 🤔
I haven't either, but that is because I was content with leaving it
did the same with transistor
SSG has a bit of a recurring theme with acknowledging resets in their games
Is that just their flair with game development?
