Bastion is a bit old, but it's fun to play. I like the weird choice the ending offers. But nobody that talks about it on Youtube ever mentions anything about it. They usually mention the Zulf choice.
The second choice the game gives you is equally interesting, because it's a no-choice.
If you restore the Bastion, you just loop, over and over and over. The problem never fixes itself. The narrator feels like he's "told the story a thousand times before" to Zia (and to an extent, the player), likely because he's told it a thousand times before.

Yea, that's the point, I just find it funny that while everyone mentions the Zulf choice when talking about Bastion's narrative, nobody mentions the second choice, ever, which puts the game into perspective.
I feel like it's intentional to have the narrator be there most of the time and constantly talk about his nostalgia of Caelondia, how much he misses it, if he could just go back to fix it. It's a bit difficult for me not to agree with him when Zia has very few voice lines right up at the end of the game, and it sounds like a very selfish plea in comparison.
The fact that the story repeats itself a "thousand times" leads credence to that idea. Ultimately the morale of the story is that sometimes, the only thing you can do is move on.
Of course, that makes new game plus very weird, because new game plus only happens if you do restoration technically.
As in, if you select evacuation on your first run and then go into new game plus

i know this is only mildly on topic but i actualy recently started playing bastion, and I got to the shield proving ground? I kept getting 4 hits isntead of 3 for first place and practiced it for hours -- which made me really frustrated, but now whenever im attacked i reflectively counter with the shield perfectly every time... guess it paid off after all 🤔

I feel that's something that probably developed after the events of Bastion if anything, as much as the entire cast had gone through and what they were trying to accomplish in the story I don't feel that quite fit, though I do agree they felt deeply invested in each other.

Oh, the dreams were /brilliant/!! And on a narrative level, revealing backstory--that was just GENIUS! It really pushed me, the first time I did it, to get better and better so I could slowly progress and learn the Kid's backstory....Yeah, doing it that way was so clever!! Plus we get to hear even more of Rucks 😃

Stuff like that and the Pantheon I think really helps create the impression of a complete world -- even though what you're seeing as a player is 'just a bunch of levels'.

@quiet charm theres 2 gourds left, roughly around the 2 circles that i marked, by the time i've stabsinthed + hearty punched all the other gourds to death. with increased knockback + range + 2 shots fired at once, the musket will kill/knock off the last 2 gourds with a carefully aimed shot https://i.imgur.com/hBZUW07.jpg
it's gonna take a while to whittle down all the gourds w/stabsinthe, even with werewhiskey; dont equip falling malt either, otherwise it'll take you forever to knock yourself out to make good use of the explosion that hearty punch generates

Jevel makes a pretty huge difference too though... hmm...
Actually looking back on it, Pyth is probably the most game changing right? Without it you can out smart pretty much anything I think?
