#Problem with the community as a whole

... then don't make it a point to let people know that you don't like Essex?
What can I do about this?
well the easiest step would be to leave, which you obv don't want to do.
the other one would be ignoring it, it will stop by itself. this step you usually learn in school
then you have the option to block people.
another step is not to throw bait other people are sure to bite like frosty said

Man discovers what the Streisand effect is
Putting aside what Frosty said, who has a valid point
Could you DM me such examples?
Sure there's always something to say about people being assholes online, but consider the following:
- There was basically zero reason for you to mention that little fun fact in the middle of a different conversation
- Essex is a widely popular community meme with a cult following so of course it's going to be everywhere
- With your statement, you basically opened yourself to being spammed by them. You gave them a inch and they took a mile
As much as it's a issue with the community being rude, you're not exactly blameless here either. Like laffeydiction mentioned earlier, you simply could have just ignored it and not thrown out the bait. Stuff like this is kinda like why people bully other people in school. They like to tease people if they can get the reactions that they want out of them, but if you dont give the bullies what they want, they'll eventually get bored and fuck off or never even bother you in the first place. Every time you actively remind people that you dont lik Essex, you're most likely only going to perpetuate the loop and making things worse for yourself
Well I asked you to DM me but nevermind...
Our stance is this:
As much as we find their behaviour questionable, this seems to be a singular incident as a result of you informing the people there to "dont use essex pictures hen talking to me" in response to someone using the "blessex" emoji to agree with your point. I get you dislike it, but by you basically telling them that, you basically told everyone that they could annoy you with Essex, who as Blaster mentioned is a very popular community meme.
If the same people have done this to you multiple times, then yes we would take action against them. But we feel that in this case, it's not enough to warrant such action (as said, singular incident).
As for "what you can do about this", I feel that learning to protect yourself by not making such things known, especially to a community you've basically never interacted with before (less than 50 messages in the entire server, 8 of which in the channel this happened), would go a long way in general, not just on Discord.
