I had always played mostly on auto and not really paying that much attention to weapons and synergies other than surface level. Been trying to learn the game more deeply lately and it feels a little overwhelming at first, haha

Chapter 14 is the chapter where u actually have to start building your fleets a bit differently and require some special gear
