What's up, it's been a long while since I last been here. ~~We had our differences a year ago but I'd like to think it's all in the past now. ~~ I hope all of you are fine!

So as the title implies, I think it would be nice if you encouraged people to share the source when they share art on the #al-art channel. Like, not necessarily make it a rule, but just encourage them to do it, perhaps a pinned post would be enough. Something like "Sharing the sources when you post art here is highly appreciated, but not obligatory. We know it's time consuming, but it makes many artists happy, it's the best way to help each other find art we like and it's a nice gesture to do so."

This way there is more courtesy and support towards the artists in my opinion. Plus, if Jimmy likes the art of Bismarck that Andrew posted, Jimmy can easily find the artist who drew Bismarck, and most likely find other illustrations they like on the artist's page. Win-Win situation. Artist wins a potential and well deserved follower and the art enjoyer aka Jimmy gets more similar art easily.

Personally I think it would be nice, but if the source can't be shared for X reason (eg: here is one acceptable art but all the others are explicit ones), then just share the artist name with no links. Still better than reverse searching.

Up to you. I'm going back to my cave now.

While it would be nice, the issue with approach like that is that people can already post source if they so desire. Most of them just either choose not to, or their "source" is just grabbing it from reddit without actually looking for artist at best, or literally just stuff they downloaded from #al-art and then reposted back at worst.
Just telling people "hey, it's something that you can do" is mostly pointless unless we going to enforce it in some way. It is something we discussed in the past, but it wouldn't work at this point. It'd either needed to be there from the start so channel culture would form around this, or we'd need to implement very strict measures that would only punish people unfairly and push them away. And it's not that important of an issue to take drastic measures (not like you're suggesting to, but I'm explaining our position on this matter in general)
