#Questions regarding the moderation and rules of this server

So I've had a few questions on my mind about the moderation regarding the recent incident of banning of a user and some other things i have experienced in the past which i would like to get answers to
i have a feeling this will be long so I'd like to clarify a few things in advance that this is genuinely out of my curiosity and is not targeted towards any particular person(s).

With that being said, my first question is why is calling someone minding their own business the word 'creepy' is alright and not seen as harrasment or bullying? If you do not like that person, why not just block them and ignore all their messages just like how its been advocated before. And why is it that when the user expresses they have been emotionally damaged by the harassment, they get banned. And why is it that different moderators give different answers to the question of why the user was banned, one says it was due to toxic behaviour that happened a bazillion times, another says that it was due to the attempts of riling up the chat against one user and then also public targeted harassment. Isn't calling someone creepy on multiple occasions and saying things like "if he was ten it means he`d be bannable alas" or "may the god hold me back" (looks like ban threats to me) be more of "toxicity" and "public targeted harassments"? why does the victim get banned while they try to stand up for themselves and speak out that they have been emotionally damaged and why do the assailants get out scot free and claim to be the victims?

My second question is about off topic rules in #al-general, I have noticed multiple mods say that a slight bit of off topic is allowed in the chat but the only time I have seen it being allowed is when a moderator finds the topic to be interesting to them and decides to join the conversation and it doesn't matter how long this conversation goes on for, it might as well be the #off-topic chat but in other occasions when someone goes off topic they are redirected to off topic and get warned for it. I'd like to get a clear answer on this of what are the correct rules and regulations for being off topic, or is it that the moderators have immunity to these rules?

My third and final question for now is about the image posting rules, I remember DMing a moderator about an image and while they said that the image was safe for posting, it got deleted right after by another moderator even after following the right protocol for it. After this incident it got me thinking that why should i go to the trouble of asking if an image is safe or unsafe when the answer is different for different moderators and there's no clear consensus for it and someone else will delete the image even if I had gotten permission from one moderator?

Firstly: calling someone creepy for acting like a creep ≠ harassment or bullying. The user in question also was not simply “expressing their emotional damage” but attempting to weaponize chat against another user. All 3 answers you listed from different moderators are all correct answers and to be quite honest we do not owe you an answer. Action taken is between us and the user being acted on, no one else. Discord Feedback and moderator DM’s are open if a user feels harassed. Throwing a pity party and trying to get the users of chat to react negatively to another user is not a correct way to handle things.

Second: off topic is always on a “how long has it been going on for” basis and it’s moderator by moderator. If chat is busy but talking about something else, the majority of us will direct chat back to Azur Lane. If chat is slow, who cares as long as it doesn’t go on for hours. The correct rules and regulations is “just stop when told to stop”

Third: if you were given an incorrect pass for posting an image, bring it to our attention. We discuss the majority of images we’re unsure of, but sometimes we personally feel they’re fine and give a pass. Sometimes we’re wrong, we’re not omnipotent or perfect.

We are no longer discussing the banned user. Those of you who are friends with them can get all the info you want from him. This is no longer a topic of discussion for this server.

  • let's talk about the scenario in question here, he wasn't really talking about lolis and what takagi said there was actually uncalled for (I still stand for the point that you can just block a person if you don't like them or find them 'creepy')
  • I've seen people be a lot more creepy, I've seen YOU be a lot more creepy, and I myself am no exception to this
  • you seem to ignore the responses made by fluvee, she could've just ignored it, she already had him blocked, but she still chose to respond, and proceeded to threaten him
I could find a lot more of those if I wanted to but as you said, this isn't my job
and tbh I wouldn't ask the first question myself and consider it a done deal but I feel threatened by the power abuse happening here in an official server and fear that what happened to niji might happen to someone else or me
  • I also feel that what you said about him "attempting to weaponize chat against another user" is a lot more exaggerated and far away from the truth, I have read the chat, I might be of biased opinion but so are you. Nothing imo of that sort happened, plus it was not just one user but two, while I agree DMing mods would be a better course of action, you're still ignoring the harassment he went through to arrive at that point and I've also been told that he's been doing DMs to mods for these issues with fluvee for a while now but they mostly get ignored.

That being said I'll keep in mind the responses to questions 2&3 and make another forum here or DM a mod if I feel necessary.

I’ll not be replying to any of the above topics except that it’s good to hear question 2&3 were answered acceptably. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
