#Closing posts on this forum

I am not sure that the way closing posts is currently handled (basically every post being closed right away) is the best. For most of the posts it makes a lot of sense since they are just one time things and either get accepted or denied, but rarely there are posts where the final answer is not that clear and they still get closed.
For example the "Update Nimi tags" post where the final answer was "I will reach out to our bot dev". You could of course say this is already a conclusive answer, but I sort of disagree since nothing has happened since then and we never got to know why, maybe Restart actually forgot to contact them or maybe the bot dev didn't want to implement the suggestion or whatever. The point is I would kinda like to ask, but since the post has been closed I cannot and it would feel incredibly awkward and against the spirit of a forum (would mess with the search and everything) for me to open a new post just for that.

All in all if this is desired so that ppl don't constantly ask useless questions or try to argue on already made decisions, fine with me, but maybe it could be worth considering a bit longer if a post should be closed right away or not.
Either way what would be the recommended course of action if you feel like you must reply to an already closed post?

They really should just go back to old discord feedback, this thread thing added nothing WarShrug

Imo it makes searching for discussions/feedback on certain topics easier, but that's about it

I've had restart close one of mine and when confronted they just said they felt it was done so it was done.
Also the lack of a channel and this thread system makes things so much more complicated for minor topics.

The problem I see here is that the mods may see the "lock thread" button as a "we've seen this" button, when locking a thread was originally just a tool for mods to stop people from derailing and bumping old threads. I wouldn't personally lock any posts because people will naturally decide what threads are interesting and what threads are not interesting.

At least in the old days the lock thread function in actual forums worked in a different way. Not sure how it works now and at this point I'm afraid to ask. Whatever is it, I don't think it's much of a difference anyway. PortDoll

If there was an option to make it so only OP could unlock their own post if they want to add more - I would add it. In the past I waited for some time before closing threads, but it just invited a lot of unnecessary arguments and needing to keep an eye out for the thread for a whole day before closing it, only to have people complain that "they wanted to add something and I only waited 20 hours for them to do it", as well as a lot of peanut gallery who have nothing to add, except try to derail the conversation or start a fight, either with us or with other users.
Ultimately discord feedback isn't for "having a chat", it's for people to give feedback or suggestions to us and if we feel we heard everything that we need with regards to it, then it doesn't need to continue. And if we want to make a followup - we will find a way to contact you.
