It's not particularly popular and I have my doubts the guild owners would agree, but #friend-and-guild-id is (and has always been) spammy, some people don't even respect the guild formatting because they don't want to or because it's not compatible with the way their guild operates; and basically it's just an unnecessary task that we are giving guild owners, post their guild everyday, or else your guild gets buried and forgotten.
I consider this to be a pretty archaic system and I wanted to perhaps give you a hand and offer a more modern way to do it. Just like the last time, my idea involves websites, since Discord wouldn't allow what I'm going to suggest.
In short, my idea is to have every active guild available at https://shrineofayanami.com/guilds or any website of your preference.
So the above, at the moment, only shows my own guilds, but if the administration of this server and major guild owners agree, I would like to rework this section so that we can list every guild there, regardless of my relationship with the players who own the guilds.
This way, players no longer have to spam the same message over and over again. Instead of doing such thing, they can simply send the guild info to you, then you pass the info to me, and I add it to the website, or something among those lines.
Guilds can be sorted and updated at anytime you demand/specify. The order can be randomized, or I can add "bump" buttons, so that guild leaders (or anyone) can bump specific guilds at anytime, with an optional cooldown and Google reCAPTCHA to prevent abuse, depending on what the administration here decides.
Or even easier, I could rework my Discord bot so that they can bump directly on Discord, on a bot channel. For that however you'd need to invite my bot to your server.
The only purpose of the guilds channel would be to link to my/your website, the channel would be read-only, but you wouldn't really lose messages. Messages would simply move over to #bot-spam depending on how we want to implement this.
In short: Why don't we just make a list with all guilds and let the order be either randomized (and updated) automatically instead of posting the same messages over and over?
I'll let you think about it. If you decide for a yes then feel free to ping me so I can get to work. Otherwise just close the thread. Thanks.
