subtle hawk
#

AMD doesn't know how to compete in the graphics market

#

their only main income is from consoles and apple

weak lintel
#

how u said is like green plebs lmao

subtle hawk
#

if AMD had some decent truly high end cards and good drivers they would hands down take nvidia off the top spot

#

but as it stands rn AMD is just a gimmick

#

good on paper

#

bad in practice

weak lintel
#

from where u got bad decision of buying RX 5700?

4chan?

I got in for many tech forums, they're legit satisfied

subtle hawk
#

people that I know

#

also being in tech forums doesn't give any validity to your claims

weak lintel
#

so does what u got from ur friends lmao

subtle hawk
#

if 20 people complain about something from a specific series of cards it's not a coincidence

weak lintel
#

if 80 ppl satisfied from specific cards, it not a coincidence aswell

subtle hawk
#

80 people satisfied is nothing

#

I can find 80 people be satisfied of the VII

#

doesn't change the fact that it's a meme card

weak lintel
#

yeah whaever u said green pleb

weak lintel
#

Im not want getting my 1050Ti again since it failed to competiting performance to 570

#

and last thing white knight Nvidia exist

subtle hawk
#

what about 1650

#

also I can't find RX 570 with 75W TDP and no PCI power plugs

maiden plume
#

I like the fact that this room goes from dead to 100 depending on the topicPurinXD As for nvidia drivers, there is evidence of them gimping older cards. Like voltage limits and custom vbios posting code 43s for maxwell cards lol. As for any latest atrocities IDK WarShrug

@subtle hawk thats u lol

We give the right info u still think amd gpu is shit

And the VII can be classified as prototype

bleak owl

Well we can talk about the 1650 PepeLaugh

#

Same performance as 1050ti

#

Released to the wide market

subtle hawk
#

that was a idiotic move by nvidia that bit them in the ass

quartz atlas

Nvida making bad decisions doesn't change the fact that amd has shit gpus EntyHeh

bleak owl

Amd can make bad decisions too

buoyant egret
lunar patrol
#

you can say AMD is good all you want but the fact that nvidia could launch turing at the insane prices they did is the only proof you need that AMD was nowhere near competitive. when AMD finally had good competition (2 years later) with the RX 5000-series, then nvidia actually lowered prices (see: 2060 price drop vs 5600xt bios update debacle)

#

i use linux and i hate nvidia as a company bc of how much they shafted linux nvidia drivers, but AMD does not have a good track record of GPUs. vega and radeon VII were hyped to shit and they turned out terrible

#

i want AMD to make a comeback with big navi like they did in CPUs with ryzen but i don't have much hope for them

buoyant egret
#

I currently use Nvidia but thinking of AMD next

#

Nvidia has better texture and physics, AMD has better color

severe falcon
#

i got burned by amd drivers when i paid $60 to pre-order just cause 3, only for them to drop driver support a week before it came out, and then not a single AMD card could physically run JC3 at more than 10 fps. so they had to do a driver hotfix for all cards except the like 50 that they dropped support for the previous week

bleak owl
#

Huh

quartz atlas

Nvidia has better texture and physics, AMD has better color
@buoyant egret if reported leaks and estimates are anything to go by, nvda next gen will absolutely crush anything amd could come up with by a long shot EntyHeh and wym btr color, 3rd party cards dont have a color that you like?

subtle hawk

stone wave

lunar patrol
#

typing in chords is the only way to type

I'm a cs student so I actually gave []{} their own dedicated keys on the thumb cluster

#

LWR button turns home row into numbers, RSE turns the home row into their respective shift+num symbols

other symbols on top or bottom row LWR/RSE layers as I felt like it when I made the layout

I can solder

stone wave
#

You have to look around but here's one KDB has a 65 key kit that's $85 USD if you choose the base options (plastic case, aluminum plate) https://kbdfans.com/collections/diy-kit/products/dz68rgb-customize-keyboard-diy-kit?variant=28550375243824

but you'll have to get the switches and caps separately

KBDfans Mechanical Keyboards Store

If you need we assemble it for you ,Please add this link to cart. Assembly link . Remember buy switches you need ! PCB of dz65rgb v2 has been changed to black color Specs: Two cases can be selected: Tada68 plastic case and tofu65 aluminum case Each key is RGB LED QMK firmware ...

#

60% keyboards are cheaper

#

eBay should yield some results on that front

#

if you do buy a kit make sure the PCB comes with stabilizers otherwise you'll have to order them separately

lunar patrol
#

imo it's not really worth building your own kb (outside of fun/learning purposes ofc) unless you're doing one of 1. making an uncommon form factor 2. using non-mainstream switches 3. using premium materials (i.e. aluminum/steel/titanium case) 4. flashing a unique QMK layout

#

if you're interested in getting a common form factor with mainstream switches then you can get a mass produced mech kb for much cheaper than you could ever build one

stone wave

usually if 2 files are of the same quality the h265 encoded one will be smaller, and if they're both the same size the h265 will be of better quality

that is, provided the file was encoded properly

the downside is h265 has less device support than the more widespread h264 encoding, but up to date apps and video players ought to handle it just fine, though decoding it (playback) requires more processing power

and encoding a video to h265 takes longer than h264

its already completely unsafe to play rn

desert olive
#

More like annoying to play with since cheaters can only crash servers at the most part.

uhh with the leaks, it was found that the server hosts can literally execute any code on your machine just because you are connected

severe falcon
#

yeah

desert olive

VNN has no comment and Valve is yet to respond.

#

But yeah, it is more unsafe now since the source code was publicized.

desert olive
#

Some additional stuff, source codes was leaked already. However they managed to contain it and not get publicized.

desert olive
#

We have reviewed the leaked code and believe it to be a reposting of a limited CS:GO engine code depot released to partners in late 2017, and originally leaked in 2018. From this review, we have not found any reason for players to be alarmed or avoid the current builds.

any of you linux users have an alternative to bluestacks/nox? I've just been using the Android Studio emulator. Tried anbox and android x86 in a vm and none of that worked with azur lane. Just crashes or does nothing.

subtle hawk
#

that's the thing on linux

#

there is no clear emulator for android

#

you can install one in a VM but you won't have touch input

signal trellis
#

yea kinda a bummer. anbox is the closest thing but it's really broken

#

the android studio one works really well though... until you have two instances... otherwise the only downside is not being able to use a controller

restive rover

What if...
You have to install a Windows 10 VM inside Linux and then install Nox inside the VM but I prolly it doesn't work ThinkZed

@signal trellis I use genymotion for android VM on linux. It is much more responsive than a straight android x86 VM in my experience, and supports arm through a translation layer. I run AL at a stable 60fps with an R5 3600 and gtx 1060

#

it uses virtualbox as its hypervisor so you'll have to settle for using vbox as your hypervisor for everything on your desktop

#

this doesn't bother me as I have a dedicated server for VMs and I don't run any on my desktop, but if you're already settled on KVM/libvirt or any other type-2 hypervisor then it'll be pretty difficult to switch

@signal trellis you may pay for it as a service if you wish (mostly intended for actual devs working on android apps), but the standalone local program for personal use is free

#

feel free to DM me if you have questions setting it up but it's been a pretty painless setup process on arch-based distros in my experience

restive rover

Manjaro...

So it's an Arch-based distro, ranked 6th on FOSS for year 2020, and a simple OS that has friendly UI than Arch Linux as people say on the internet and "works-out-of-the-box".

Malware is scary, so does getting infected on Windows

subtle hawk
#

it's not that bad

#

if you know what you're doing

#

and it's not like linux or mac are any safer

restive rover
#

Well to me I'm safe when using Linux from local malware that is spreading around me that they don't even know to take care of it

#

Like, I'm tired of going to the %appdata% to remove that JavaScript malware on other computers that makes shortcut to any external drives

subtle hawk
#

vb is not javascript

restive rover
#

wait, is it JavaScript?

#

Oh, no I was wrong.

#

It was a VBScript / WScript, something like that

#

When you double click the shortcut on the flashdrive, it gets executed and uses the hidden .bak file and creates it's own directory on %appdata% where the malware resides and hides it's own folder.

#

It's been 6 years that the malware is still around on my place

subtle hawk
#

that thing is old

#

and easy to circumvent

#

it's not technically malware since the only thing it does is be a nuisance

#

and you can purge it by just scanning all the infected pcs

Meanwhile android have so much variant (You better go for flagship phones on Android it's usable for next 2 - 4 year in its optimal performance)

@subtle hawk bless me with your divine knowledge

restive rover
#

How many M.2 slot does your mobo have?

#

Wait, lemme check the link you sent

#

So it's a SATA M.2 drive, not an NVME I see.

#

I see something what's happening.

#

Some motherboard only support SATA M.2 or NVME M.2 or both.

#

But because your motherboard has this "Hyper M.2" slot, I can assume that it is only for NVME M.2 drives not for SATA M.2 drives.

#

And because I saw this on their official website

Supports the next generation PCI Express 4.0 M.2 SSDs, it is capable of perform twice the speed compared to previous 3rd generation, giving a lightning fast data transferring experience.
I think both slot were only for NVME M.2 drives.

#

But if possible, you can go to BIOS and check something on the storage section of BIOS.

#

I don't know how ASRock's BIOS look but that's all I can do.

#

@severe falcon

gloomy tinsel
restive rover
#

Nope

#

I forgot to mention something.

I think both slot were only for NVME M.2 drives.
Try installing it on the second slot and check the setting on the BIOS if possible.

restive rover
#

Yes, one of them were only PCIe and the other one is PCIe and SATA

#

8 SATA3, 1 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4 & SATA3), 1 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4)
-according to their website

#

Carefully look up on the BIOS and set that port to SATA mode or something

buoyant egret
#

It sucks #music-spam won’t take official uploads of music

#

Official uploads are usually the remastered versions

subtle hawk
#

@severe falcon most dual M.2 slot mobos have to share the lanes or the port

#

so for example the SATA M.2 slot has to share 2 SATA ports with the onboard controller

#

while the 2nd NVMe M.2 slot most likely feeds off a 16x/8x slot

restive rover
#

You can consult the manual which slot is which. Maybe there are info about setting up the SATA ports and the M.2 slots

#

My mobo is tied with the SATA_0 port and M.2 slot

#

meaning, they share the same lane

subtle hawk
#

more like they share the same interconnect

#

since SATA M.2 SSDs exist

#

they have to connect to the SATA controller

#

and by doing that you have to sacrifice one or 2 ports

#

while NVMe SSDs usually need 4 lanes to operate properly so it's easier to just steal the lanes off the bottom slots

problem within my side is that I can't get the very latest ISO of Windows 10 because, 800MB per day of internet

#

And why I have almost all of these ISO is that every time Microsoft release their newer version of Windows, I always download it on the first 5 days since release.

#

Here at home

#

with the worst internet you can't imagine

I'm waiting for the may release to update

I'm waiting for the may release to update
Same, only if my mom's internet plan has still data left

What do you guys think about 5G network?

#

I'm literally shaking my head with this technology and my country has this website to stop 5G from my country

onyx tendon
#

Imagine if they're using 5G internet to male the website

#

"I used the 5G to destroy the 5G"

restive rover
#

Bathing under the sun is much more dangerous than the 5G because the sun has UV rays that is an ionizing radiation

#

i'll just go back to do Linux things atm

subtle hawk
#

5G is just another communication standard

#

the close range module has such a high frequency that it bounces off even paper

#

and the longer range stuff has already been used in other applications with no harm to anything

#

also nothing personally against you @restive rover but it irks me so much when ppl try to rub it in your face that they use linux or anything else that is not windows or macos

restive rover
#

... meaning?

subtle hawk
#

nothing just saying

#

nobody gives 2 cents what your OS of choice is

#

the only time I care is when they kneecap themselves in linux or some flavor of BSD just because "big corps are evil" or other stuff like that

restive rover
#

The only reason why I'm using Linux right now is that I love to tinker

#

but, ye...

#

mind b0rk at 1am while doing something

#

i can't explain very well during these times

subtle hawk
#

since most of the time those users can't really provide solid arguments as to why the use one over the other outside of just some sort of standing against the companies behind them

#

@vast sand got it thanks RenownThumbsUp

Waiting for the X570 Aqua to be added in PCBS so I can make an Aqua-themed build

#

I mean, someone built a Hololive PC irl so why not

subtle hawk
#

yeah I hate those "i use arch btw" people too

#

it's not even arch

#

any distro in general

vagrant holly
subtle hawk
#

yeah I know

#

but arch the most popular example

fringe goblet
#

does anyone here use blender? Also i just downloaded it and im a noob on trying to create wisdom cube VickyXD

vagrant holly
#

hold up

#

you see that little circle with squery bits?

#

if you have the cube selected you should be able to see it

#

now, were it says "surface", by default it has "principled shader" selected

fringe goblet
vagrant holly
#

if you click on it it'tll open a menu that lets you select a shader of your choice

#

for the wisdom cube, i suggest the "glass" shader

fringe goblet
#

ok

vagrant holly
fringe goblet
#

wait

vagrant holly
#

yes, that's because you're in solid mode view

#

those things in the red rectangle are the varioues view modes

#

wait mb it's not very clear there

fringe goblet
#

ok

vagrant holly
#

those 4

fringe goblet
#

i saw it

vagrant holly
#

go ahead and click on them to see what they do, from left to right, wireframe, solid, material and render

fringe goblet
vagrant holly
#

yep

fringe goblet
#

Material Preview i used

vagrant holly
#

that's not how it'll look in the final render, material preview is used to get a general idea of what material is were

fringe goblet
#

hmm

vagrant holly
#

it's faster and less intensive on the cpu/gpu so it's great for when you just need to know what material is were when modelling

#

the right-most one is the rendered view

#

THAT is how your model will look like fully rendered

fringe goblet
#

ok

vagrant holly
#

also, since blender 2.8 they decided to switch to "evee" as default render engine

fringe goblet
#

whats a good render engine? do they have more render engines there?

vagrant holly
#

yes

#

were the arrow is pointing, that's the tab you go to to select the render engine and other effects related to the render

#

you don't have to worry about the other stuff for now, i advise you to watch a beginner tutorial and get a grasp of the basics and slowly work your way up from there, for now tho, from that tab, were it says "render engine" you can select the one you prefer

#

cycles is the best engine for rendering available to blender

fringe goblet
#

I tried the cycles engine and i can almost see that it is looking like a wisdom cube lol

vagrant holly
#

ye, i suggest spawning a plane, just to have a floor-like surface to place the cube on

fringe goblet
#

how to add it?

vagrant holly
#

shift+a

#

it'll give you a drop-down and you can select whatever you want

#

for a plane, shift+a>mesh>plane

#

you can move stuff around by clicking on whatever model you want to move

fringe goblet
vagrant holly
#

once you model is selected, press G and it'll allow you to move the object where you want

#

you have selected multiple things

#

double tap A to deselect everything

#

and then select what you wish to select

#

(also you don't have to stay in rendered view mode)

#

(for modelling, it's best to stick to either material or solid view mode since they are faster and less stressfull on your system)

fringe goblet
#

i managed to select the plane and moved it down

vagrant holly
#

good

fringe goblet
#

should i enlarge the plane

vagrant holly
#

if you want

#

select the plane, press S to scale it

#

btw, if you press G and then press the button for any of the axis, you'll move the object only along that axis

#

like for example, if you press G and then X, your object will move along the X axis

fringe goblet
vagrant holly
#

yes

fringe goblet
#

so

#

with that placed

#

imma try matching the color of the wisdom cube

vagrant holly
#

if you want to rotate stuff, you can select the object you want to rotate and press R

fringe goblet
#

is the color matching of the wisdom cube?

vagrant holly
#

it's more towards blue imo

#

yours color is closer to a greenish hue

#

but i don't think anybody will mind too much lmao

fringe goblet
#

lol

#

thx

vagrant holly
#

once you're done and you want to render an image, in the top, were you have file, and whatnot

#

there should be a render tab

#

render>render image

fringe goblet
#

how to use a eyedropper

#

im trying my best to get the color from the wisdom cube in the file storage lmao

vagrant holly
#

for the color?

fringe goblet
#

ye

vagrant holly
#

you go to the material tab

#

click on the color

#

there is an eye dropper

fringe goblet
#

yep i see

vagrant holly
#

it'll do just fine

fringe goblet
#

ok
