the new windows update? it is for me
still have to reboot for it
that's what was hogging me down
(Italy)
for reference in regards to the expected changes/updates
scratch that
Learn more about update KB4524147, including improvements and fixes, any known issues, and how to get the update.
that's the update i got nvm
I'm using Insider builds.
Yes, they just released a new build for Fast ring Insiders.
I wonder what they have released for the skip ring
Perhaps the Skip Ahead will give 21H1 builds.
Right now, Fast ring Insiders are receiving Build 18995. That build has an ability to use Windows Hello PIN while in Safe Mode.
Here comes the 30 minute wait
I'm making a build video later on.
atleast ours is not that spagoot
well lets see if python is for me or not

fuk i hate programming but need to do
SD-WAN solutions will be applied soon

I really should get a nicer case for my server
Dust is building up in there and it's getting gross
We gonna miss Nokia, so I made a meme.
Nokia is still very much alive
Yes, but now they are making Android phones right now.
cuz no one wants the crap appstore of windows phones
why are you acting like nokia using a different OS is a bad thing
it's still nokia
Well at least Windows 10 Mobile is now considered a downfall for Microsoft's own mobile OS, so instead they focused on the popular mobilie OSes such as Android. Recently, Microsoft had a Surface event and they reveal the Surface Duo, which is their first phone to run Android.
They also introduced Surface Neo, which is going to run with the new SKU of Windows 10—Windows 10X.
Nokia's KaiOS phones are a bit of a joke software-wise, really.
It sucks, but I'm used to feature phones so I can bear with it.
I have the 8110 and never really regretted buying it.
Besides, it's tough as hell, as per usual for nokia.

the fact that there are unlimited data plans that make mobile hotspots unusable is sad
Welp who here is ready to watch an ISP die? Cuz suddenlink currently is
Nationwide outage on friday by 86% of its customers and today is not any better
suddendeath
Samsung Evo Plus Or SandDisk Extream 256gb?
err NVMe...?
i think its memory cards for phones what he wants
yes
still go for samsung its cheaper
Ah
the performance difference isnt that big
Ah lol
64GB isnt enough for me
When going with SD cards, I'd say either SanDisk or Kingston for lifetime
Aye, so I attempted to ask in #al-general but it got drowned out quite quickly and I only got half an answer
Who should I ask for a freely availlable version of the Z23 bot? Sje has some great functions like the weather thing and all and I'd love to have that in my own server as well
if you asked a year ago maybe
but now she belongs to yostar so no, it can't be made available
Skip Ahead is now open (sort of)
a 256 GB microSD card is around $40 if you're in the US.
$25 for 128GB, at least that's what I paid off Amazon this year.
👾
Did windows home, pro and gaming has difference performance ?
@quartz tide Similar
Not a huge difference
I can't really find the difference between the home version and my pro version
windows 10 only has home and pro, there is no performance difference between the 2 for gaming (which i think is why you're asking this question), pro and home are the same exact thing out of the box, however, pro has additional features that target businesses like additional encryption and networking capabilities, i don't think you're the kind of person who would need those features so just save the money and get home
yeah the difference is minor
Pro also has a lot more settings and options they allow you to change and it doesn't come with bloatware and click-to-install tiles on the start screen. I was sickened when I saw a clean windows machine with Candy Crush and other crap games ready to install
@icy merlin that's bullshit and you know it
a clean pro install is visually the same as home
with all the bloatware and such

Pro has more stuff than home
Not gonna say you're wrong, since I haven't done a win10 install in a while and I always start by removing things, downloading a real browser and then setting up. But I honestly don't remember my win10 pro having click-to-install for crap like that
I have all 4 editions of Windows: Home, Pro, Enterprise(both normal and LTSB) and Server
and I've had my fair share of experience with all of them
yeah no
IoT isn't part of the Win10 family
it's a separate version that's more or less a hardware connector between azure and your IoT hardware
cya no
just don't
everyone records telemetry
that's not a valid point anymore
well you are one that likes to tweak the crap out of ur install
The Iowa BBs are getting a huge upgrade and going to be classed as a BBG. (guided missile battleships)
Railguns, nuclear powered, no more gunpowder but electricity. Its a modern battleship if the plan gets an yes.
@severe ocean it's National Interest, don't bother.
Awww okay, I was hoping it would happen. I love future like tech.
it's not viable
a giant armored ship with small range is not viable
a small destroyer has a huge range with missiles
that railgun won't be able to fire over the horizon
while a missile easily can
i mean the railgun can def fire over the horizon, cuz iowa could do that back in ww2, its just the missile is gonna be more acurate and have further range. also iowa already has missiles and CIWS, shes basically as modern as you can get without removing her turrets in favor for missile cells
"A Depressed Trajectory and Its Terminus"
Railguns can 100% fire over the horizon, but the other issues remain
A railgun projectile is cheaper, but the system cost is more
i mean you would need a projectile that can be guided but also isnt affected by the electric fields from the shot itself
an unguided railgun is worthless because theres not a system on the planet that can get accurate enough for actual use
Yeah, every shell will need some sort of guidance.
For example the railguns on the huge fucking submarine in Ace Conbat 7 guide its shells with GPS/INS
yeah
you need something in real time
like a auxiliary plane for the targetting solution
also the problem with railguns is the downtime
it takes a bit to fill the caps back up
because just like batteries
they have a max rate of charging
but in modern warfare a railgun won't be able to fire over the horizon accurately
unless it's a stationary ground target
not to mention that such a BB would need a escort fleet
Toaru Kagaku no Battleshipwaifu

On a more serious note, IoT at least pretends to be part of the win10 family. It even shares a lot of its marshallers that were just compiled for ARM instead of amd64. Too bad they just stopped after compiling half the marshallers so a lot of C# functionality they want you to use doesn't work
Utility server for stuff like Pi-hole and network printing
Debian would prolly be better for that type of use case
Oh lol
Utility servers are nice though
If you have the use for them
What access points does the great @subtle hawk use?
Same question for @subtle hawk
And really anyone who wants to answer
My laptop broke F
I use cheap used business laptops cause I don't need anything more than that
if you don't need a dGPU they're great, like $200 gets you something with an i5-4300U/5200U, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, and maybe a FHD display
+1 for business laptops
Glass breaks. Apple has once again made the back glass on their new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro permanent. Apple charges 300 to 600 dollars to replace the gl...
pretty cool
The leader of the Windows Insider Program is now vacant as Dona Sarkar moved onto another role of the company.
If you have any kind of network hardware, I'd suggest turning it into a utility/media server. And indeed, Debian would be perfect for the job
Or go hardcore and run Plan9

I was summoned
yamato my ISP is currently dying nationwide
my gigabit city is about to have 12 mbps as its fastest internet
yes but you have alternatives
like my house literally cannot get internet except them
dont you have like 10 Gbps or is that for something else?
yeah im talking like normal everyday internet usage will be impossible
the other ISP is garbage
cuz the only alternative that isnt satellite is AT&T
pfft we pay for 150 and get 30 if we are really lucky
Sounds familiar. We pay for 50Mb down and we're lucky to hit 18
And yet we also pay for 5 up and I occasionally hit 21
This was a nice surprise earlier this week though. Sometime when I was sure my neighbors were all asleep
Wireless access points :3
@subtle hawk if you have 3 networks, can every host on each network access 1 printer
Yes, that is possible. Whether it's practical or a good idea probably depends on some other stuff
I'd say it's easier and better if the 3 networks are different VLANs on the same physical network, or physically bridged together
If the networks are physically near to each other, one way you could possibly handle this is by setting up a small computer with multiple Wi-Fi adapters as a print server

Granted this is a more-than-10-year-old blog post from some rando, but it demonstrates the point
@gloomy tinsel Oh
I gotta be honest I may be a Cisco slave at uni with all the OEM equipment
But at home it’s all TP-Link if it already isn’t wired

great pic for a frame

"the principle of least surprise"

does anybody here have a clear idea about how usb 3.1 gen 2x2 works?
i mean so far i understood that 3.1 gen 2x2 is basically 3.1 gen 2 but it uses 2 lanes of 10 Gb/sec in tandem to give you 20 Gb/sec
pretty much
so does the usb (or whatever device) you connect have to be enabled for 2x2 or can any 3.1 gen 2 make use of the 2x2 speed as long as the device you connect it to has 2x2 enabled?
or rather, is capable of 2x2
I think it's the same principle as pciex2
so if the device is only capable of one lane, it'll stay that way
alright thanks
what @subtle hawk said
it's backwards compatible
also the USB foundation needs to learn how to label shit
like
smh
USB
USB 2.0
USB 3.0
USB 3.1
USB 358/2 Days
USB Chain of Memories
USB Birth by sleep(3)
USB Final Chapter Prologue
USB 3.2
1491
3699
Kingdom Buses
USB Final fix
ye it's getting a little ridiculous
they are going back and renaming older standards which is like...why
3.0 is now 3.2 gen 1
3.1 is now 3.2 gen 2
3.2 is 3.2 gen 2x2
gen 2x2 actually makes sense once you realize how it achieves the speeds it goes at, but it's still kind of nuts how they renamed past versions
just rename it so it looks new and compatible
Also, USB 3.0, but USB4
Without the space.
The USB guys could use some pointers from the Wi-Fi Alliance on this front. Though the WFA is a big meme in other ways, just look up the development process of WPA3
and how potential weaknesses are already being found
lol just found out that this exists

Oh, the embed’s broken
I tried uploading a h.265 video, that didn't embed but h.264 did
come on discord
@severe falcon can i put a function call inside a dictionary in python
uhhh probably, but why not just make it a certain string, and then when you check for that string, call the function?
like theres probably a way to put it in there, but i have no idea and its probably complicated
@stone wave most old devices can't hardware decode h.265
and I don't think there's enough demand to make it playable in browser embed

it's a problem with new standards, it sometimes takes ages for the majority to implement or have older ones become obsolete
coughIPv6cough
oi
IPv6 is just too different to be implemented at once
unlike H.265
imo if your shit too much of a potato to decode h.265 you shouldnt be running discord with it to begin with
cause you could always do some doo doo ass software decoding
hardware decoding and software decoding are very different
one will make ur CPU/GPU cry
the other won't
yep
also yeah I forgot h.265 reuse most of h.264's features
im just mildly annoyed cause i screen capture something but forget to change the settings to h.264 for discord to embed it
so i gotta re-encode it and i'm like
more like im lazy
I still have to do it to reduce the file size
Old and busted
New Hotness
I capture stuff nearly lossless
Android Central: Early look at Samsung's Android 10 beta reveals new gestures and volume controls.
https://www.androidcentral.com/samsungs-android-10-beta-makes-some-big-changes
ye the beta is p WOKE

i can hear the internet through my headphones
its like a really quiet but freaking out geiger counter
inb4 dies of acute radiation poisoning
ah those lovely analog leaks
Most access points produce some noise
reasons why integrated graphics is bad
thats from having 2 streams open on two monitors
oh no that was literally just from the pixiv stream alone
the other stream is at a solid 6%
also win7 task manager
yeah ive got an old comp still
but the new comp is a micro computer
so its gonna be worse
but pc is a microcomputer
New comp?
Probably he means microATX
New work comp?
its for my work, so i dont have a choice really
I see
its either stay on old one or get that one
Gross lol
imma scavenge for a graphics card and ask the IT guy if i can just put it in
r/softwaregore
You know, if the DeskMini A300 and Ryzen APUs had been available when I built my PC, I might've gone that route. I'm glad I didn't, but the DeskMinis look really nice for what they are
oh it actually reads that?
ye
thats cool
Yeah, that's a thing you can set up
i think our main server runs on vista or XP tho so rip that
It's through a USB connection, right?
I have the new UPS running on my desktop for now
ye
once it passes it's going in the rack
i mean i dont even want to look at it
but it has the look of the old windows style
My USB switch arrived yesterday, now I can share keyboard/mouse across my equipment
i had one, but it lagged for a few secs before the other comp recognized it
This one is a little slow, but it's fine for what I need
Also works on the Nintendo Switch, though IDK if anything on the Switch can use the mouse
Vanity picture time
no
ah well i know the score i will get then
@severe falcon we have to see now
will do when i get home
Silverstone? They sell some really high quality units. This one was considered one of the best in its class at the time it launched
I should
I clean my tower pretty liberally
Usually once a month
But can probably get by with 3-4 months, I just do it out of habit
Me when my tower isn’t that dusty after a month:
My old case didn't have any dust filters
any recommendations on powerful laptops in the price range of $1-1.3k?
why do you need a laptop that expensive?
so that it can last longer??
yeah but like why have a powerful laptop when you can get a much more powerful dektop for the same price?
Mobility?
what are you doing on the go that requires more processing power than a cheaper laptop?
yeah but like what do you need the laptop for?
portability
no like what programs and stuff are you gonna use?
are you designing jet engines in CAD software or just writing papers in word?

cuz like im saying you can get a laptop for cheaper that will perform the same basic tasks and now you have extra money
yeah but did it do the job?
I get away with just a Thinkpad T450s, it's not going to play games but it's bulletproof.
ehh i guess
would you have paid another $500 to shave a minute off start times?
You gotta know what you're buying
bruh
Those black friday only SKUs suck ass
well i'll be moving in a year to singapore, so i can't bring my whole desktop there
"i need a fast processor so i can open word 4 ms faster nyehh"
so like a daily driver
acer
oh so you wont have access to desktop
can't vouch for em cause i dont own either but that's what you plan to expect
then yeah the 1k is def what you should go for
alternative, find something with thunberbolt 3 and get a eGPU enclosure
also i had an acer netbook that became skynet
i curse acer laptops
do look out to see if they have heat issues
it somehow started off playing beta minecraft at 15 fps, and it ended its life playing it at 40 fps
high temps is kind of a thing on at least a few of the past intel laptops
high temps are true on any laptop
some of them thermal throttle pretty easily
you will want a fan mat
my old laptop was a $500 dell made in 2010
i got the CPU to 90 C playing terraria
90 C is also the emergency shutdown temp of the kernel
with the fan mat it was at 87

that's why you gotta research it
oh no it was a great laptop
i mean for aria
but it had integrated graphics
like we can point at a laptop and be like this seems to be reasonably priced
but we have no idea if the thermals or build quality is good
if you get one with an actual GPU in it, itll do fine
its just terraria is CPU intensive and now the CPU also has to draw everything
What do you think of ASUS ROG laptops Aria?
That one seems nice cause it ain't got no fucking num pad.
bruh that actually looks like a crazy deal
its been 9 years since ive looked at laptops
Lol I got a new laptop last month.
And by new I mean used, off of eBay.
Replaced my 2nd gen X1 Carbon with a T450s
because my X1 Carbon didn't have a FHD display and it was starting to annoy me
If you got Costco there's also this Aria
https://www.costco.com/.product.100492301.html?EMID=B2C_2019_1002_MVM
if you wanna spend the extra and blow your budget it'd net you a RTX 2060
alienware one looks best out of all
but otherwise the 1660 Ti should be enough unless you plan on some intense gaming
yea
nice
they're all either 2.5" SATA drives or some sort of M.2
alienware one is M.2
rip
my old laptop was wack with a soldered 4GB memory
upgraded to max was 20GB
which was weird
You just need to figure out what M.2 it uses, if it's NVME replace it with a NVME drive (to keep that awesome speed)
but if it's non-NVME you have to stick with a non-NVME M.2 drive unless the specs mentions it supports NVME
it just says 512GB PCIE M.2 SSD
does it say something like m.2 2280
the last 4 numbers tell you the size
pcie m.2 = nvme
this is all it says
you can try to find more detailed specs elsewhere
i could check service manual
or just pry it open when you get it to check the physical size of the drive
a 1TB NVME 2280 drive is around $100 - $200
lol its usually 2280
i bought this the other day, its a SATA m.2 and its this tiny ass 2242 size
yeah its 2280
You could buy the Lenovo I linked from Costco if you have a Costco membership
That supports dual drives
Some laptops have dual drive support but only 1 drive included
You can probably just buy a USB-C 3.1 external SSD and be fine
I wouldn't buy a 970 SSD
i really dislike keeping data in external hard drives
Samsung charges a stupid premium
i mean, do u have any other recommendations for fast speed ssd's?
If you have to go Samsung get the one I bought
It's basically a 960 Pro
spec wise
yeah you can get something around $120 at the same speed if you want to save
well i have a year to save
the main thing about that drive is MLC flash memory
MLC flash memory has a higher read/write endurance than TLC
The SM961 is between a 960 Pro and a 970 Pro, the 3D MLC gives it substantially better write endurance and better sequential write performance over cheaper drives you'll find.
And considering a 970 Pro is $350
yeah
But you can get some standard TLC memory NVME drive for like $110
Just find one with DRAM though if you go that route
mm ok
This is what mine benches
https://i.vgy.me/SCPFNE.png
@stone wave
Amazon.com: Asus ROG Strix Hero II Gaming Laptop, 15.6” 144Hz IPS Type Full HD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, Intel Core i7-8750H, 16GB DDR4, 512GB PCIe Nvme SSD, RGB KB, Windows 10, GL504GV-DS74: Computers & Accessories
tfw people recommending my pc specs in a laptop form
As long it is the best, its ok
Battery life: twenty mushiseconds
Thx google news
anyone know how i can set my CPU to throttle on temp?
you don't
ones with DRAM cache
for americans and israelis
maaan, why does EU have to be so safe
i want to have my data stolen and claim 358$ too
@subtle hawk
but my room gets too hot from it
oh, i never thought about that
ARMv7
@violet nexus exactly what Yamato said, avoid DRAM-less turds
Note to self... When switching to CLI-only mode make sure you're in the VM and not the host machine
I keep forgetting that I'm still running python 3.6 on my laptop
and wonder why I keep getting unexpected keyword arguments error in some standard library functions
until I saw the "Changed in version 3.7: " footnote
also btw 3.8 just came out two days ago, might upgrade to that soon
Bruh that Pocket Analogue seems sick as hell.
With a built-in synth and sequencer to boot.
200 bucks. Not bad.
tfw fucking emulator froze when I accidentally clicked on camera button in AL and I can't even kill it
"access denied" - good job, Windows
in UNIX you could just do SIGKILL and it would die no problem
what superuser suffix?
Oh my bad I was referring to “forcibly”
@compact cloud eg.
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
"access denied"
and "no running instance of task" yada yada
if only it was that easy
someone wanted to copy DS
"imagine a DSi XL but with full hd screens and cutting edge hardware"
@subtle hawk Asus is serious
yeah I know
but i wonder can it handle Honkai impact 3 with no framerate drop
I just don't get the idea why this thing existed since it almost just has the same specs as regular flagship phones
also HI3 runs at like 20fps for me since my phone is 2 generations old mid-range
4K monitor arrived
How do I partition more memory to my c drive
I can't extend vol

Can I shrink my d drive for c drive?
but
Both are different disks
would it still work?
@severe falcon
uhhh well whats on the C drive?
I have no idea why it's taking so much space honestly
well figure that out
and then take any stuff that can be moved and place it into the D drive
That's the thing
I install most stuff into my d:drive
C:drive contains solely my visual studio stuff or anything programming related
Haven't I could try
but once I build my game
I have to install 8.1 sdk
so visual studio can build it
hardlinks are always there if needed lul
Are you trying to treat multiple disks as a single volume?
JBOD is probably what you want for something like that
E.g. LVM groups on Linux
GParted is awesome, support for LVM stuff is kinda limited tho from what I've experienced
Imagine not liking LVM

when will we have scanners that dont create ridiculous amounts of static electricity?
also TIL blender doesnt even run without a graphics card
it can't run on intel?
no like a popup literally says it needs a graphics card and then it quits
@severe falcon why did you pull the card out?
work comp, it doesnt have one
oh oof
Weak
Oh, so integrated?
yeah integrated
Yes it is
No it is not a good keyboard, but for $50 you can do worse at least
I didn't know better when I got it lol, I was like "hey $50 mech keyboard"
It's decent at least
ah
also welp I wish US-international layout on windows doesn't have dead keys on ' " ~
I just wanted AltGr and it's really get in the way
What switches though

Lul
Left monitor: 1920x1200 25" TN
Right monitor: 4K 27" IPS
Scaling is mostly fine, but. I don't recommend mixing DPIs like this on Linux, at least not with Xorg. Probably better if you use Wayland
I got it looking good after some xrandr memery
it's fun to run a device through a full on proxy
it shows you EVERYTHING
especially when you install your root cert in it to decrypt any HTTPS requests
Yamato spying on his users, beware :3
Ah yes GDPR
is there any alternative to this app
it's very clueless about file type and has big area of ads
isn't that a system app??
it is
Xiaomi advertising stuff huh?
yes I wasn't joking
What phone are you even using
@flint bobcat MIUI so Xiaomi
looks like adware
never knew xiaomi did that lmao
but heres a way to disable those ads
I wanna see AL's source code
I'm on uni wifi
pi-hole would totally work
hm wait
I already have a wifi router
still I don't think my rpi can handle multiple network traffic that well
basically I can just do this setup but replace my pc with my rpi https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/516951507065765888/601475778957279233/unknown.png
@umbral onyx decompile and hope it's not obfuscated.
You can still work with obfuscated code, just a pain in the ass
@subtle hawk it's binary code
even if he first extracts it, then decrypts it
and then decompiles it
it's gonna be missing a lot of stuff
I would know since I took the game apart very often
Yeah, assuming all the logic is on some server elsewhere. But in the off-chance that they do all calculations and just synch up states with the server you can still glean a lot of the information you need. (potentially)
Aside from that, you should be able to decompile to some form of assembly. I haven't done much mobile decompilation so I don't know how the compilers work and how the code interacts with the hardware.
well i assume you can decompile to ARM, but its probably gonna be near unreadable
TL;DR you can't
not even to ARM?
I mean get the AL source code
even what we get at the end of all that processing doesn't give us much insight if any
Err, Idk, I kinda decompiled it just fine: https://i.imgur.com/tcdKdsa.png
that

that's not decompilation
What would you call it, then?
unpacking
because java apps are never compiled or translated to machine code
since they run in the JVM
wait azur lane is java?
yeah but that doesnt mean you are forced to use java for games
So apks aren't compiled at all?
no
why would apks be compiled
I'm thinking too high-level. Probably compiled down from Xamarin or some other higher-level lang
again
not compiled
oh wait it uses unity
what you're describing is transpiling into another language
Forgive my verbage hehehe
@severe falcon is uses the Unity mobile core along with that sound engine (dunno what's called) as the initial groundwork and bootstrap
then most of the logic is done in the Lua JIT binaries embedded inside the main asset files
and im assuming that technically AL is a 3d game like shovel knight
then is it always just called unity3d?
beats me
huh
unity can do 2d lol
AL uses isometric 3d
basically pseudo 3d in 2d
and 2d nowadays is basically 3d textured planes
then its a 3d game like shovel knight, like i said
@severe falcon that might've just been boilerplate unity libraries that got brought in.
well yeah thats a possibility
AL is coded in C
lisp actually
Lego technic code
binary
that reminds me of the cursed yandev update video
taps 1 and 0 on the number line above the letters randomly
presses enter
yandere chan shoots flames from her feet and slowly rises into the air
Nice studio
of course
in programming, people use pnorm
to get results
but I want the inverse of pnorm
which is qnorm
But I am doing math homework
so what the hell is the inside workings of qnorm desu?

uhhh you take the area under the curve and then calculate what the boundary value is
also zilf if YOU are really a CS major, why are you asking ME to figure out a function for you?
@severe falcon btw pics of your crummy cable management
@gloomy tinsel oh crap i forgot, i will try to remember when i get home
Lol
8.5/10
But that’s only because of the desk
Would be a lot higher if it were different imo
Also nice water pitcher

Lol
what's a good tablet to get for drawing and programming
Tablet computer? Surface Pro

@gloomy tinsel i gotta take it apart for cleaning tomorrow so i can get better pics then, but heres where most of the spaghet happens
finna trigger somebody's bondage fetish with all those cables
thats only half the comp
what is that cable management???
thats called fitting all the power cables, 4 fan cables, 3 sata cables, and the daisy chain HDD power cables into that tiny space
i mean the case is not meant for what i have in it
I mean you have to dust it out too. Do you not clean your PC? @severe falcon
yes i dust it out
Looks dusty tho
yeah cuz its time to clean it
Lol
How often do you guys clean your rigs? I personally try to do it at least once every 1-2 months
Probably overkill for me since I try to minimize airflow and not have as much of the stupid "christmas tree on acid" rgb fans everywhere that seem to be popular these days
But I don't have any dust filters either, my room is on the ground floor, and has carpet
I have not cleaned my pc since I got it

I do not have access to an air duster
wheres muh airduster
I recommend dedicated air compressors if you can
canned air is a scam

before winter is a good baseline, less dust
wdym less dust
in winter I have all the carpets put on the floors
isn't winter usually the season with the least amount of dust
for people
:thonk:
kind of

I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard with Japanese layout
how do I get one since I live outside Japan
Find a JP HHKB?
I'm not going to buy it right now though
or yahoo auctions japan and find a service that can handle shipping it to you
something like that, yeah
yeah those HHKBs are not cheap
an option is to build one if you find a PCB and backplate that supports a JP layout then you can source the caps
full sized, oof yeah custom full sized boards are uncommon
best bet would be to scour yahoo auctions japan
yeah
man those 10keyless keyboards being on the assumption of latin layouts
meanwhile my language uses all 4 rows for characters
so numpad is a must for arabic numbers when I'm on that layout
what language?

not sure how good the guide is
but it might be worth a look
thanks
it's not that important though since I just need it for emulator inputs which I don't currently do
wdym emulator inputs?
emulator for old Japanese computers like pc88, pc98, x68k
Ooo, if you're into it you could probably rig up a vintage board to work via USB.
Like with a teensy
it's frustrating when ろ and - keys are non-existent on US layout
is that 2nd character a hyphen?
it's there on the US layout
I meant on Japanese layout
ah
it has different symbols location
most keyboards are probably ISO or ANSI and those have the hyphen
but IDK about the JIS layout
oh that reminds me you could probably just search JIS keyboard and eBay should have some results that ship internationally
probably not mechanical but if you just need the layout
yeah, I might go with that
I still like my current keyboard
probably save mechanical for US layout
Are keyboard quality in Thailand better than its southern neighbours?
For how much did you bought?
my brother's is almost 3 years old and switches are getting stiff
but it's mainly because he plays osu! a lot
What's the range of gaming keyboard prices over there?
I think mine is like $80
Logitech G512
not sure if I remember the number correctly, it's the one with only red led
8000 baht?
That's a very interesting price
I was thinking to buy the logitech, but its a bit expensive (yes, its cheaper than razer)
why the japanese layout doe
Nice price, damn expensive
Ahhh
Anyone know the xbox controller button spare part name ? I like to change the RB button cuz it wont budge but i dont know the spare part name
Which Xbox controller
Idk the part names but it would prolly help to know which controller
@gloomy tinsel wired Xbox 360 controller for pc
@gloomy tinsel

also late to the convo but don’t get the k95
please
overpriced garbage
also it has mx browns
aka mx sand
aka mx shit
Apple!

Also some non-MX switches are better in general
MX has the brand recognition but not necessarily the best switches
And offbrand keyboards get you much more bang for buck
yes
@gloomy tinsel
Fan splitter
No its a fan controller
get mx red or any linear switches
I need 2 fan controllers cuz the mobo can run 1 fan and i have 6
I use a fan splitter for my front fans actually
My board can take two case fans
I havr two front and one rear
Also my comp has been getting really warm lately, and i have found out that its because one fan controller got discpnnected from power, so i was running on 3 fans
950
I like clicky clickies, I have MX Blues @subtle hawk
Im getting a new build instead of upgrading anything, whenever i get the money
Can I have your CPU, board, and RAM? :P
Why do you want 2013 parts?
I like old crap
I have a couple Core 2 Quad systems in reserve
Also tbh you can sell your PC
As is
There is a market for old budget PCs like that, regardless
nah, I think I'll have japanese keyboard as a secondary
Oh yeah def
I know a guy who sells old crap
Buys it for cheap and resells for profit
I just wish i had the actually valuable old stuff in working condition
My server board has one case fan header because Gigabyte cheaped out @subtle hawk
Cuz i got the cheapest mobo as a replacement for my giant atx
oof
Cuz i bricked it when installing some old amd cards
That said, the case I chose for my server has integrated FCs, so no problems
mine has one, but only 3 connections
For my next build if I ever get around to building it I think I’ll use a modern case this time
My current rig is all hiding inconspiciously in a Dell optiplex case
(full form factor tower don’t worry)
My server is very well behaved. The main desktop on the other hand is a bit of a diva
hm
do they make split ATX towers?
logitech is called logicool in japan?
It's great, after the inevitable troubleshooting and setup that crops up when I install a new OS
@severe falcon wdym split
@subtle hawk you have an all AMD build right
Like my current case has the board on one side, and then hdds and psu on the other so its got two compartments and makes the case a cube
Oh I see. Yes they do
@gloomy tinsel At the moment
Corsair Carbide Air
okay I think know where to look for japanese keyboard
as an... expensive example
I forgot Amazon JP exists
Also @severe falcon ur cable management is kinda weak for a case like that :3
:3
bruh i have 3 hdds
You have a cube and the fan cables aren't routed discretely
well i cant
:<
there are no discrete ways to route them
Sounds like you need extensions :3
if i go behind the mobo, then they have to weave between 3 hdds and the psu
and there is space for 3 hdds
so its wire spaghetti
also i swear that my isp can detect when speedtest is running a test on it
cuz this is GOOD for them
and it was lagging on discord right before
You know ISPs pay Speedtest for results
Use fast.com
Sounds like a great way to add latency and a new attack vector @subtle hawk
Lol
also I'm okay with any US layout keyboards really because Thai layout is based on it and there are keycap stickers sold
Lol
lol
and I rarely type in Thai I'm starting to forget the position of some of the characters
wait pig, youre thai?
did you just know about that
@gloomy tinsel not when you’re using spooky advanced wireless induction to power your rig

it's called single board computer
no like wireless electricity was invented in the 1890s
