Beacon stops other CVs and BB triple guns from being able to hit before you launch

Rudder keeps you alive for the downtime
And the rudder skill proc chains into her skill nicely, to partially cover HPFCR triples

Hiryuu you want one defensive aux on; what second one is situational imo
If you run Nagato, I prefer VF-17/APcuda/Ryuusei with beacon, wo your Hiryuu launches before theirs in the Hiryuu v Hiryuu endgame

Without Nagato reload buff, don't bother, you can't outspeed nagato Hiryuus without having shit damage/survivability

Otherwise, what setup is situational

Fighter is either VF-17 or the new fighter we're getting soon, ideally

DB can be AP cuda for crash or helldiver for damage, or literally anything if adjusting launch time

TB can be cuda for crash, 818 for slow and crash, Ryuusei for nuking main fleet at end, depending on whether you use Hiryuu to tank early focus or save her to cya at the end

Aux can be second defensive to hold on as long as possible, fuel for damage, or one of the event boxes (+15 eva +25 hit) for a mix of survivability and damage vs vanguard

On defensive aux; VH armor is better vs specifically Nagato/Amagi barrages, it hard no-sells those (lol 1.3 mod on medium and 0.7 on heavy) and provides some HP to buffer suicide/fires
Rudder is much better vs torps and bombs
Vs anything else, they're pretty much the same, including all common BB shelling/barrages
Generally if you want 2 defensive aux, run both rather than Rudder/Badge if you can help it, since Evasion gives diminishing returns, especially if you don't run Amagi

@fast dune Nah armour is only a small part of what makes a ship tanky. e.g. Yuki is one of the tankiest vanguard ships in pvp cos of her skill and stats Even then she wants a fire extinguisher. Armour matters, just not a deal breaker or anything

Main issue with torpmeme defense fleets is that they’re rarely set up to be strong.
That often means that even if they can delete your juneau after 3 seconds, they’re so squishy that you often win the vg fight anyway
