Well, the toughest teams you'll face generally don't care for Essex Dred, nor do they care about Sandyret, so it becomes a question of priorities.
If you are having issues with CV comps like various Akagas, that setup makes sense
otherwise, the more-powerful warkai and Namagi comps aren't affected much, so you're probably better off with Sanrui (dev25+) or Noshiro or Aurora or Neptune (dev25+) etc. over Sandyret
Baltimore I suppose is a nice middle ground, maybe? Or Helena

Though, all of this is contingent on levels. Even if it would be a better choice normally, being even just 5 levels lower means you're better off with the higher level ship anyways.
