then either each damage source is hardcoded to ignore subs except ASW which is hardcoded to hit only subs
or subs are hardcoded to ignore all but ASW damage and rest ships are hardcoded to ignore ASW damage
and devs messed up with one of taihou's barrage plane bombs (lol)
