the issue was that my modem for whatever reason had a different gateway IP as opposed to the one you access the config from

• I had to actually connect them via Lan-lan ethernet to even get them to see one another when setting the bridge

Back then when I was an IT engineer for my old company, I set up the wifi so that the router for mobile device would not be able to use printers that was connected to the main router.

It was not a nice decision, and people complained, so I had to switch to LAN port.

well the important bit is now it all works and I can even access the config for the router through my PC without them being connected, so the LAN is recognised properly

and the new modem also has a 5g connection so my phone can make use of that too
