Hi all, just a quick update on our weapon menu overhaul WIP stuff:

Along with adding new weapons and improving selection, we're also taking some time to improve the weapon icons themselves. We're trying to better represent the effects of the weapon projectiles, while also making thematic changes that'll allow us show weapon families/catagories better. Suffice to say, there will be many more weapons as a result that will hopefully create some interesting gameplay possibilities. Anyway dev TL;DR, here's a pretty picture with some weapon menu stuff:

WIP: Weapon Selection Stats/Info

Now we get to the main course and indeed the core of the many menu changes we're making for VOX; our weapon selection menu (and the weapons themselves 🤫 ). Much like our Grinder selection menu was due for a tune-up, our weapon presentation needed some work to better explain to new players what the strengths and weaknesses of each are.

Here's the key info this new menu will expose to players:

  • weapon usage info, in icon form
  • special features shoutout
  • stat bars galore
  • weapon damage type (degree of splash and/or impact damage dealt)
  • weapon categories

here's one cool thing we're currently working on:

Grinder Selection Stats/Info:

Our grinder selection screen has been historically very light on the details a new player should know when making the decision to pick a different grinder. Things such as strengths/weaknesses, special abilities, and some indication of how they all compared to one another was pretty much absent. It's no wonder then, that new players tended to enter the arena with questions and confusion. While this can't all be fixed with a menu layout rework, we felt we could at least help them make a more informed decision from the getgo with a little extra context. So here is a look at how our grinder selection menu will look like once we're finished with this feature:

*(specific wording, stat values, etc. are likely to change still)
