#Seems like the desktop client (Windows) has a memory leak or something

Over the course of the last 8-9 days since I downloaded the client I have had to close+reopen the game multiple times due to unplayable lag. One time the game lagged out my computer so hard that it fully froze and I had to manually reboot the computer via the power button.

for context; my PC specs are

Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER
Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD
32GBs RAM
etc. etc.

The point is, pokeclicker shouldnt be able to crash a multi-thousand dollar gaming computer, so something is going on but I am not sure what.

so can you just double check where the paging file is

#

if the memory is leaking its happening somewhere during allocation

lean crypt
#

I've had similar issues but it was my actual hard drive that was the issue

high locust
#

its most likely not a pokeclicker issue itself but chromium requesting RAM from somewhere stupid ie. paging file on a hard drive

lean crypt
#

Are you windows os

lean crypt
#

If so id advise to do to re-download your operating system

my computer/OS have been working fine for the last year since I built it. the ONLY game that has caused problems is pokeclicker

high locust
#

you want it to be on a fast drive with space

#

maximum allocation up to 3x RAM

obtuse moth

over 1.5x at *least

obtuse moth
#

so higher than 8gb

high locust
#

much much higher

obtuse moth
#

ok I can bump that up ezpz

high locust
#

windows generally does fine but if youre experiencing memory issues it is almost certainly windows interacting with hybrid drives or HDDs and the caching is fragmenting the virtual memory

#

also this will sound stupid but restart your rig every now and then

obtuse moth
#

yeah I restart it every so often. aside from restarts I leave it idling 24/7 tho

high locust
#

yeah not great practice but i wont tell you how to live life

#

im very adamant about turning it off but generally nowadays its not a huge worry

#

just things like caches can get wonky

#

windows forgets to clear things sometimes

#

especially on win11

#

fun fact the start menu is a react native application

#

thats why now matter what pc u have it lags a bit

obtuse moth
#

whoops didnt mean to reply to that one

#

thanks for the help, yall!

high locust
#

ping me if u need anything, i had to go through a bunbch of crap do due memory management a couple weeks ago so its still pretty fresh

#

if you notice it doing it again open console and have a look to see if its failing to load something

#

that would be a big telltale of where things are going wrong

obtuse moth
high locust

fresh tartan
#

obtuse moth
#

obtuse moth
#

#
