Not that we don't believe you but can you try to reproduce the behaviour like you did and provide screenshots, save and more details ?

apparently the screenshot I took immediately after sending that got lost to the void, but this is the same batch of eggs in the queue now, after going through a total of 55 eggs - this time, it did resume progress after being stuck after switching tabs and returning, so that seems to be related.
