Press Win + R and then type services.msc and hit Enter.
Find and double click on Windows Update and then click on Stop button.
Delete Update cache in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
Restart the Windows Update service (or reboot)

Yeah, the cache folder is the download folder right?
You cleared everything in the Download folder?

I’ll let updates come out rather than forcing it
Select Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
Next, under Most frequent, select Windows Update > Run.
doubt this will fix it, but won't hurt either:
System File Checker
SFC scans and repairs missing system files. Run the following command in Command Prompt as an Administrator.
sfc /scannow
DISM
DISM helps repair Windows image corruption. Run the following command in Command Prompt as an Administrator.
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
chkdsk (Check Disk)
Chkdsk scans for and fixes issues with your file system or disk. To run it, enter the following into a Command Prompt window with Administrative privileges.
chkdsk C: /f /r
run the first two commands
OK, once done, reboot and then check for Win updates

what was the error message?
how are ytou connected to the internet? Wifi? Ethernet?
