#Updating bios (intel 13th gen)

Really just a quick question.

Contacted cpuk today and curtis has told me to update the bios just incase, im 99% confident be fine 1% says im gonna somehow blow up my pc....

Got sent a video on how to do it and couple things really.

Says to disable bitlocker? And im not sure if thats on by default? Then also something about xmp and settings in bios? Should i just update and leave the settings as is? I havent ever changed any bios settings so dont know if any need to be adjusted once ive done the update for the bios.

Wont be doing till tomorrow as no usb till then.

You probably don't have bit locker enabled, you would know if you did

You can flick on XMP afterwards

Nah it will be fine and you got permission from cyberpower anyways so just follow their recommendation

Shame no one nearby has a usb i can use, so had to order one on amazon, but im sure it will go fine, yer curtis helped alot today said the cpu got another 2 years to it so im super happy, just doing this bios part for peace of mind

I'd take photos of your bios screens before updating too

Don't know your setup... things like XMP, Fan curves or any O.C profiles etc. Taking photos of each screen will allow you to compare

My neckkkkk but yep only xmp, fans are auto detect so just gotta make sure xmp is on tomorrow after bios update

hey! apologies for invading this thread, i've been looking for an answer to this exact question as well (for a 13700k too, weirdly enough) so i stumbled across it. when you're about to install the new bios update, does it warn you to disable bitlocker just before you go ahead? 99% sure i don't have it enabled either but that warning's thrown me off

I think if you go on advanced save and exit page mflash is there

Is there a specific USB port on the back of the PC for bios flashing?

Make sure your fans are set to PWM and not DC in bios as well
