gpu hang or crash issue

So tonight out of the blue my pc seems to have got an issue where if I open a program that uses direct x I believe after a couple of minutes a crash of the program will occur.

Along with a brief black screen. I've since restarted my system and ensure all is up to date and it seems to have sorted issue.

Any idea though what might cause the issue in first place as earlier today I have been using my pc fine with 0 issues, only half hour ago when I turned it on after work dis I get the issue randomly occurs.

Also the issue has never happened before apart from when it happened this evening after turning pc back on from getting home from work

so i've kept this thread open cause for now the issue hasn't returned but would still like some help on what could have caused it as it was an odd out of ordinary thing
