Yeah, for gaming, the 7800x3d is cheaper and performs the same/better

Same performing gaming CPU
Better AIO
Better case (for fitting GPU and AIO)
Better PSU (For 7900xtx + future proofing later)
Better RAM (6000MHZ kit)
Motherboard won't matter as its a 7800x3d, won't be too much power, and will handle any CPUs later to come
Does that cpu have as much life left in it as the 7950x3D? Or would I end up upgrading the cpu again in 12 months time?
:tada: Congrats @full siren, you levelled up to 1! :tada:
For gaming, it performs the same
I don't see 8 core CPUs going irrelevant for gaming anytime soon, especially at 1440P, the CPU becomes less important for GPU intensive tasks
The 7800x3d is the best performing gaming CPU currently, unless windows fixed the 7950x3d scheduling issues
Any time frame for that 😄 like in the next 6 months?
I think its been improved, you can see in the video above some games perform the same
Used to be worse
Here
So they're working on the fix. So wouldn't it be best to get the 7950 as its newer with more cores? And should out perform the 7800 before long?
Mores cores don't equate to more performance
It will be roughly the same performance, its mostly fixed now, I haven't checked in a bit

You could go for this if you want, but I would go for the one above

Thanks for the feedback, it narrows down my choices a lot. Ty

Okay, final follow up question. If in the future I wanted to start playing games at 4k . Would there be any issues with any of the suggested or original builds?
Go 7800x3d definitely
It becomes less CPU intensive and more GPU intensive - if there was barely any difference at 1440p there will be none at 4K
Ok thanks. The gpu would be able to easily handle that too right
Yep! Seems solid
Awesome! I literally only play Rust too. But want to be as future proof as possible and get the most bang for the ££
Say you are concerned about the CPU - on AM5 you can switch the CPU out for a long time, I think two more CPU generations?
So you can go 7800x3d and buy like a 9800x3d that will outperform anything today
Thanks, I'm gonna decide before Friday and I'll post an update and some pictures and stats on stuff like temps and fps
Seems good
My new PC order gas been placed!
Nice!!
I went for the 7800x3d and 7900 xtx with 32gigs of ddr5 6000 in the end
Seems good!!
Next big purchase is a 4k display I think
:tada: Congrats @full siren, you levelled up to 2! :tada:

I had my new PC delivered last week, it's and AMD 7800X3D, and 7900xtx, 32G DDR5 6000hz.
I've done all the driver updates with several restart. However, when I run a game (Rust) it runs for a few minutes then the GPU runs at 100% and both of my displays (1 DVI & 1 HDMI) both connected to the GPU. Both displays go black and all open applications shut down and I'm booted back to the desktop.
Any suggestions?
Maybe a DDU/AMD Cleanup utility
:one: Download the driver for your GPU from the manufacturer's website using the links below, but don't install them yet.
:two: Download the latest version of DDU by clicking the button below, clicking on the top post which is called "Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) VXX.X.X.X Released", and clicking the link to *** Download DDU "Installer" *** in that post.
:three: Open the program you just downloaded, and install DDU.
:four: Disconnect from the Internet by unplugging your Ethernet cable or turning off Wi-Fi in the bottom-right corner. This will prevent Windows Update from automatically re-downloading the GPU drivers after rebooting, as we are going to install the driver ourselves.
:five: Open the Start Menu, click the power icon then hold Shift on your keyboard and click Restart. Once your PC has restarted, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, and press 4 to load into safe mode.
:six: Launch DDU, using the icon on your desktop.
:seven: On the right side, select the type as GPU, and the brand as the manufacturer of your GPU. Then, click 'Clean and Restart'.
:eight: Once you have loaded back into Windows, install the GPU drivers you downloaded earlier. Once they have installed and you have rebooted your PC if required, you can reconnect your Internet connection, and your GPU drivers have been fully reinstalled.
Ive run DDU and reinstalled drivers with thes ame result, PC crashed and returned me to desktop.
Reseat your GPU
Thanks, will give this a go
Np
@full siren going okay?
Reseated the GPU, testing the system now
Booted me back to the desktop again.

I am not sure what has happened but I can't think of anything else
I even reseated the RAM but still the same issue.
:tada: Congrats @full siren, you levelled up to 3! :tada:
It's a shame because it's the first time I used CyberPower too. Never had this type of issue before.
The only way this could have happened is in transit, something got knocked on the GPU maybe. All the systems are quality tested extensively, and leave functional.
I have been through the process myself and couldn't have had a better result at the end, they take care of you super well
Yeah, I checked the box it came in and there was no obvious damage.
Glad I paid extra for the highest customer support option now. Haha
Yeah, they do great warranty regardless though. I think that is for the delivery fees to be covered for an extended amount of time
It's odd, because all game load well and will run along as I don't try to load new frames or move the character model far.
When you did the ddu, what driver did you install?
Yeah, I'm sure it will get sorted out.
The 1 that was recommended.
Perhaps try an older driver, when you go on the AMD site, select the 7900xtx and go previous drivers
And instead of DDU use AMD Cleanup utility
Ok, will give that a go.
And just to see, take a picture of the GPU power cables and the powersupply end to see if they are loose
Reconnected all the power cables, tried using just a HDMI instead of DVI, still getting booted to desktop.
I've put a ticket in, and I'll put it back in the box for them to look at it or recommend something else to check.
Take a picture PSU and GPU end
Looks good. Hopefully you can get your system up and running soon
Thanks for all the help and support. Much appreciated
I've noticed there's two threads and should have been in #1019927530033119322 , oh well
