Rightclick windows icon and bring up event viewer
From there go to windows logs > administrative events
Then press CTRL + F and search "nvl"
What does this do?
I want to see if the error pops up
there are quite a few nvl errors
:tada: Congrats @idle sierra, you levelled up to 9! :tada:
which one are you looking for specifically
Take a screenshot of em
where are those options
not sure if this is what you meant
Yeah I think best steps to do is first a DDU
:one: Download the driver for your GPU from the manufacturer's website using the links below, but don't install them yet.
:two: Download the latest version of DDU by clicking the button below, clicking on the top post which is called "Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) VXX.X.X.X Released", and clicking ***Official Download Here*** in that post.
:three: Disconnect from the Internet by unplugging your ethernet cable or turning off WiFi in the bottom-right corner.
:four: Open the program you just downloaded, choose a location for DDU to be saved, then click Extract
:five: Open the Start Menu, click the power icon then hold Shift on your keyboard and click Restart. Once your PC has restarted, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, and press 4 to load into safe mode.
:six: Find the folder you extracted DDU into and open Display Driver Uninstaller.
:seven: On the right side, select the type as GPU, and the brand as the manufacturer of your GPU. Then, click 'Clean and Restart'.
:eight: Once you have loaded back into Windows, install the GPU drivers you downloaded earlier. Once they have installed, connect back to the Internet.
I've already done that
Oh
I did that a few days ago
so basically, it's random, but let's say every 10 minutes, there's a milisecond of a weird glitch at the bottom of the screen, kinda like streaks almost
Have you tried taking a screenshot?
I've also had a time today where my middle screen ( I have 3 monitors) went black for a split second whilst playing Hogwarts Legacy
Didn't have time for that
Ah
it's literally a split secondf
and then it's gone for a while
I'm sending the card back to Amazon, getting the Asus TUF Gaming one instead
OC
Its like 20% more performance for the same price
As long as it is an upgrade to my old RX 580#
Nah, still not bothered
It's a huge upgrade from my old card anyway
My 4070 just got refunded from Amazon
I had some issues like yours too, weren't the same.
which one did you have?
Doesn't matter, same cards from NVIDIA, but the Gaming X Trio
ahh yeah
I can't get the gaming x trio because my PSU isn't modular, I only have the ability to do 8 pin
Now, my 3060 did this weird thing right - but its known working. Like used it for 2 years. I suspect Nvidia is doing some wacky driver stuff.
It did a black screen for 1 second
it is probably best I refund the card and buy a new one
Huh, sounds familiar to me
this*
came back, black screen for another second - THEN got artifacts and bsod
Sorry
It wasn't that bad for me, the card still has great performance but just every now and again it was doing that weird glitchiness thing
Also before I did the DDU, there was some proper wacky flickering on my screen
all of the three
went black, back to normal, back to black
Can I recommend downgrading driver as a last ditch attempt
because it COULD very well be this new driver giving us peeps issues
How do I downgrade driver?
Also I've already sent a request to send it back off anyway sooo
Ah
No bother.
Tbh if you just do gaming AMD is quite compelling now for what you probably want
I do a bit of blender but mostly gaming
Ah blender is a no no
AMD GPU's?
Yeah but you can't do blender on that well iirc
I'd rather stick with nvidia tbh
If I were giving you advise - you should wait the 20 days for the super
20 days is a made up number but by the end of the month
I'm just super impatient
You aren't getting a refund quick yaknow, my 4070 took a week and a bit
Fair enough
I gave it back like December 29th I think
Just got it back yesterday (the money)
And in the form of amazon credit which will obviously be shorter than going back to card
Its not out yet ahah
I know lmao
the TUF Gaming OC is better than the Ventus 3X isn't it?
Yeah
You are paying an £80 premium for the same card different clothes
And if you aren't buying a 4070 Super you might aswell get the best value 4070
The Gigabyte card is still better than the Ventus 3x I think?
which is the gigabyte?
or
I dunno off the top of my head, but at the end of the day they are all 4070
yeah
On Amazon it looks like it
This is my preference
ASUS has killed it with the Asus DUAL 4070
ABSOLUTE MONSTER
only dual fan tho
Yeah, I'll see how the Gigabyte one is then, if the refund comes through before the release of the 4070 super
Atleast its good value ey
£540 for that class is damn good
Aye aye
I'm in the new GPU market aswell so you better update me 😂
Will do
I'm just a little worried that I'm returning a perfectly healthy card
Maybe I'm just being stupid
Perhaps it is the driver
This is a cyberpower PC yea?
How much did you buy for the ventus?
Yeah, but the original card was an RX 580 when I bought the PC
about 600
I bought the PC in 2019
Ah
Lets think about it then - thousands of people on new driver, if has issues, some don't
you recently switched GPU because that came out last year yea?
You save £70 and you get the same GPU thats "better"
I switched GPU because my RX 580 was getting issues
11th November, sometime in then
This will solve your issue 99%
At first it seemed to be okay, when I did the DDU.
But then it seemed to do the weird glitchiness thing, but not as bad as before
Hheh, yea symptoms get worse and worse if they are hardware
Before I reinstalled the drivers, all of my screens were flickering
Probably best just getting a new one just in case
You might be overthinking a tad bit
You saved £70, if its anything else, you buy another part
:tada: Congrats @uneven sierra, you levelled up to 55! :tada:
You don't waste too much money so it should be all okay
So try another driver version?
Sorry just in another thread
yea I'll pull it up
Do the manual driver search and
This is the one you want

If you are struggling installing drivers because Microsoft is forcing Windows WHQL drivers on you, you can disable this "feature" in Windows 10 very easily.
All the details are in the video.

Sorry for the generic video but that shows you how to disable windows from installing a newer GPU driver
yeah alright
