I just spec’d up, after much back and forth the below gaming pc…
Replacing an asus TUF with a 1660Ti, which has served me well and good on the go, but for home I really wanted to upgrade to something which is going to handle what i throw at it, without sounding like a jet powered vacuum cleaner running on full throttle.

If anyone is interested in giving it a little glance over that would be appreciated.
It all seems to be ok and nothing flagged up as an issue, but theres a world of info out there that boggles the mind 😵‍💫

I will be using it for VR, Gaming, Streaming, basic video editing, and possibly dabbling in some programming too….

Should you go 7800X3D? It's the best chip for gaming, alot worse for productivity but still a powerhouse

I was looking at that originally, but from what i was reading, there didn’t seem to be much difference between the 2 7900x & xtx for the £80…

I saw your ram choice and I don't think the 7900x will take advantage of the 6400mhz well, and 6000mhz is the sweetspot for Ryzen 7000

#

I changed storage options a bit for better options imo, while saving some money and upgraded the PSU

I changed your case to something really good with the fans still included and I love my lancool 216 religiously, I also changed your GPU to the best of the best, 7900XTX

#

I did however downgrade your motherboard but it's still very overbuilt and has great features, I think the main difference is the paint job 😅

7900X:
Pros are better at productivity because of the higher clocks and core count

Cons are higher temperatures/wattage and worse at gaming then the 7800x3d

7800X3D:
Pros are lower temperatures and very efficient (even though Ryzen 7000 is efficient already) Best CPU ever made for gaming

Cons are that is worse for productivity as it only has 8 cores and lower clocks

Both are solid at their weakest points, you decide what you prefer.

Great advice either way… i want something that will do a bit of both… but if there are gains to be had in a different model the definitely worth consideration 🤟

Haha… i actually thought I had already done that! Norton was the killer of computers way back and I never forgave it for the hassles I had in the late 90’s haha
