#CPU Temps
720 messages Β· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
You able to download HWInfo?
Download either the Installer or Portable version
For temperatures, run in Sensor Only mode.
Run in sensors only mode and scroll down until you see CPU temps
Don't have discord installed on the pc rn I'll quickly do it
Oki π
And what CPU?
7800x3d
I want to say its normal but it may not be, do what Lewis suggested
Ryzen 7000 likes to get hot when doing anything
Surely it shouldn't be getting 80 idle
Damn
thats normal for like a 14900k under load jeez
i think its just the 360mm cyberpower aio
Is the light showing?
yep
Do you have thermal paste on hand?
Scratch that, touch the tubes and feel if they are vibrating
yep
:tada: Congrats @astral wadi, you levelled up to 1! :tada:
theres a good amount of thermal paste and the tubes are vibrating
idk what it could be
still going up
Are the fans spinning on the radiator?
yeah
ah alright so i have to remount it?
I just wanna see it under a stress test to be fair, fire up some OCCT
Yeah either AIO is not mounted/touching the CPU properly or AIO is faulty ?
The pipes are vibrating leading me to think its just bad contact/mount
ive never had an aio before so im not sure what its supposed to look like
but it came like it is
Maybe try tighten up the screws?
Thats the AIO
Ohhh wait
sorry
Do the OCCT first, sorry for saying do this do this im getting ahead of myself
its at 90 now
alright I'm back on my phone
Wait I think I heard a popping sort of sound when the pc turned off
Thats probably normal if you have a corsair PSU
Its a ticking noise
I see
Right, go into the inside of the PC and take a picture
Ah thats annoying you can't use a standard screw driver
I agree
idk if this helps at all
You would be suprised that those chips are quite tall
Should it be plugged into "CPU fan" or "pump fan"
Try pump fan
I don't know either, its just very odd
I don't know how to deal with that kind of mounting hardware though, if someone here knows please help.
Alright, I think you have to finger tighten it
Sounds silly but I think thats what you have to do
I'll try
:tada: Congrats @astral wadi, you levelled up to 2! :tada:
Alright I've tightened it as much as I can
I'll check it now
Is that why my fans are going crazy aswell, tryna help keep the cpu temp down?
Yea
How much did it give?
a decent bit
π
Yikes
Temps are below 80 but still at 79
damn
oh man this is gonna be fun
Put the computer on the side facing the ceiling when doing this though
Make sure you have the thermalpaste though
Wipe off the old and apply a good but onto the CPU (Not alot though) and try to mount
I'll send over a video of the same AIO
I don't have extra paste, none came with it
Oh
I thought it would
I got a bag full of stuff that came with the pc
Idk what any of it is
Sucks to say but something weird is going on
yeah idk what it is
I think you need to contact CPUK
okay
:telephone: 03333-237776
:e_mail: sales@cyberpowersystem.co.uk
:clock3: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
Please ensure to include as much information about your query as possible, and ensure to include your order number if you require after-sales support.
Im sorry to not be of any help but without paste we can't eliminate user error
no problem
just mildly infuriating that my first high end pc doesn't work like I would've expected
Yeah, I am certain CPUK will solve these issues very fast, but it isn't something that should of happened.
any idea of what will happen?
You will be sent an RMA forum you fill out, DPD comes next day collects the PC, PC is in for repairs for a few days and comes back to you hopefully fully functional
just make sure you still got the original packaging
or you'll have to pay CPUK for some
Yeah I do
Do I get any form of compensation or anything cuz I waited 3 weeks for this π
You can always ask, doubtful though π¦
It should've been fine when it left CPUK if it got past stress testing and everything
so god knows
I'm just confused at why it's 40c in bios and 85 idle afterwards
Leave it in the bios and see if temp climbs
I pressed the power button and it didn't turn on the first time
pressed it again and it worked
Might be normal considering sometimes it is flakey
:tada: Congrats @astral wadi, you levelled up to 3! :tada:
no signs of going down
Yep thats all I need to know
Neither π¦
I can't really help anymore as it is clear there is some issue and you don't have the paste to fix it so I'll leave it here, sorry for no help.
They will take very good care of you.
@viscid shale sorry weird question, but is OCCT a stress tester?
all-in-one stability check & stress test tool
Ah okay
However there is more demanding stress tests for each component
Furmark for GPUs
Cinebench for CPUs
I was told to do the test and my CPU is at 79 right now, with an 85 max
so is that not too bad or
While running the OCCT test
Yeah that's pretty good
oh okay
7800x3d
It's going between like 77-82 most of the time
did you contact CPUK?
yeah I was told to run OCCT for an hour
that's why I asked here too to ensure my pc wouldn't explode π
I mean if its only hitting 85c, and not going any higher
imo that's alright
if its at that all the time though, its a bit weird
It's peaked at 86 now, but is balancing around at 77-82
and I assume stress test is nowhere near how hard the cpu will have to work majority of the time
CPU tests basically push it to its limit
Hmmm now it's leaking at 87 and sitting around 81-82
for example under heavy load, mine will peak at about 6ghz and 100c on those cores
Wait I think I can see a problem
Yeah some of the OCCT tests it'll run will push several cores to their max.
so it can push temps up
oh?
I'm pretty sure CPUK didn't take the plastic off the radiator before installing it
I just heard a plasticy noise
the plastic off the radiator???
Or whatever it is idk
could you send a pic of what you mean
This looks like a bit of plastic film
It's on the fans of the aio or whatever that part is
I mean I'm not sure, but could it be interfering with the airflow
Ahh yeah my bad I didn't realise that part came off
But I took it off and my temps are down to 75
I had no idea there was even plastic there until I looked closely
I mean I'm still not sure though, my fans were ramping up the speed before I even opened occt
But now even after OCCT is done my CPU isn't cooling down at all
It's staying at about 79
@silk hare
:tada: Congrats @astral wadi, you levelled up to 4! :tada:
Good
This is not good
I'm so confused at why it's like this
π trust me to get a faulty pc on my first time using this provider
I dunno if it's faulty it's just weird wacky behaviour
The temps are not normal and the cooling system is definitely not sufficient
I mean in the bios it's perfectly fine
As soon as it boots into windows it almost doubles temps
idk if that means anything
40-42c in bios
Didn't you say it got really hot in bios?
Here
nahh I realised the cooler wasn't screwed back on properly that was just on me
Oh
but I put it back on and it's fine under OCCT but after the test is done it just started dying again
What's the CPU wattage?
like under stress it was running cooler than it is now
Right now it's 50w 78C
which isn't right
I'm starting to think does he have a funky hot spot like mine
Nah you would see that in the core deltas
tru
hold on
All my fans are spinning but bios says 2 of them are at 0RPM
unless I'm just misreading
Could just be unplugged
tbh idk what I'm talking about so I'll not say anything to be confusing
But yeah my CPU is fine, 38/39 in bios
But as soon as I close bios my fans turn like jet engines and my temps skyrocket
Oh wait
I have an idea
In the bios
Go to advanced mode (f7) hardware monitor
Then go to pump fan
What is it on
PWM or DC
PWM
And should I plug the cable back into pump fan
Wait wha
The pump fan should be in?
I switched it to what it was when I got the pc
It was plugged into CPU fan
but the OCCT was with pump fan in
How do I change the percentage
Okay
alright I'm turning it on now
fans are still jet engines and my temps are still 78-80C
I don't understand why it's perfectly fine in bios but just dies when windows is booted
okay
It looks fishy but it's legit - I'm just trying to go off a limb and eliminate OS sensor errors
This is the only tool I've found that stress tests the CPU without OS
what in the 2001 website is this
Yeah that's what I was thinking π
π
JUST TRUST THE PROCESS
So what is it I download π
This software is free please enter your card details
No π
I'm slightly lost
Just let me cook sorry let me
none of these download servers are even up
the only website
that has it
That looks very fishy
I'm trying to find
A way we can do this
Ok how about memtest FFS
That stresses the CPU a bit aswell
@astral wadi I am very sorry about this uh
Its very old
BACK IN IT'S GLORY DAY
SIR WE'RE ON WINDOWS 11, NOT WINDOWS 98
According to Reddit
π
Okay I am not helping here
Bingo @astral wadi let's do memtest
:one: Download MemTest86 using the link below.
:two: Open the zip file you downloaded and run ImageUSB
:three: Click 'Extract', choose a File Location then click 'Extract' again.
:four: Run ImageUSB from the File Explorer windows which just opened and select your USB stick from the list.
:five: Click the Write button, ensuring that any files on your USB stick that you would like to keep are backed up.
:six: Shut down the PC you are going to be testing, insert the USB stick and press the following key while your PC is turning on, depending on your motherboard:
ASUS/ROG: F8
Aorus/Gigabyte: F12
MSI/ASRock/Cyberpower: F11
Then select your USB Drive from the list and press Enter.
:seven: Wait for the 10 second timer to finish and the test will begin.
:exclamation: If MemTest86 picks up an error, or the test has finished (It will stop automatically), let us know.
After making a MemTest86 USB, you will notice that your USB will have much less capacity. To fix this, reopen the ImageUSB tool, select Reformat USB drive under Step 2, then click Write again.
Sorry for the uh previous messages
Memtest stresses the CPU to a certain degree and has temp monitoring built in
So I think this will be good enough
Accent was trying to get you to download a computer equivalent of the bubonic plague, but it's all good
do a memtest
whats this about a usb stick
So it eliminates windows entirely
i dont have any usb stick
:tada: Congrats @astral wadi, you levelled up to 5! :tada:
Brill
Get memtest on there
download memtest to the usb? or write image to usb
Open up the program and it does it for you
Is it finished?
it's doing it now
Ah ok brill
Temps at 68 rn while testing
Oh wait you are in the memtest?
Yeah
Seems ok
my fans are a lot quieter too
I'm just going to say I'm downright confused
If you are upgrading from Windows 10, you may need to enable TPM and Secure Boot in order to proceed with the Windows 11 installation - please follow the TPM & Secure Boot guide below first.
:warning: When reinstalling Windows, you will lose any files which are not backed up to the cloud or an external drive - please ensure any files you would like to keep are backed up before continuing.
:one: Click the button below and download the 'Create Windows 11 Installation Media' tool.
:two: Follow through the installation tool, and choose 'USB flash drive' when prompted. Your USB flash drive must be 8GB or greater.
:three: Once the tool has finished, shut down the PC you're installing Windows on and insert the USB drive.
:four: Next, repeatedly press the following key while your PC is turning on, depending on your motherboard:
ASUS/ROG: F8
Aorus/Gigabyte: F12
MSI/ASRock/Cyberpower: F11
Then choose your USB drive from the list to boot from it.
:five: Follow through the installation tool. When it asks for your product key, click Skip - your PC will automatically reactivate. Make sure to select the same Windows version as you ordered with your PC, then choose a Custom installation.
:six: Select the drive in which you would like to install Windows on (you will want to install Windows on your SSD, this is typically a smaller drive), delete any partitions which already exist and then select Drive # Unallocated Space, and click Next.
:seven: Once your PC restarts, you will be taken to the first-time setup screen, where you can setup your user account and preferences.
Sounds good
Media creation tool yeah?
yeah
I totally forgot how it looked tbf
its just taking a while
I'm assuming you know what to do now
im just reading the box above lol
If you need help lmk but I'm on the netflix binge
π fair
Again uh if you feel you need a bit more support highly recommend talking to CPUK themselves
yeah i have
Especially if this doesn't solve it
all they said is to run occt
Probably just trying to see if it goes kaboom under load
its just annoying tho cuz my temps were lower under load than they are now
my last pc used to just power cycle itself randomly, idk why that happened
didnt even have it for long either
decided to spend a decent chunk on a good pc and it doesnt work too lol
Was that a cyberpower system?
Ah right
im just unlucky it seems
Well it's always good to know how customer support takes care of you in the long run
I can vouch customer support god tier
Same here
They speak friendly and act professional, after that your system is fixed
I sent my broken PC back they received it Tuesday and they swapped the case and upgraded the GPU from warranty and I got PC back on Saturday
Wait no they received it Wednesday
My system was smashed in transit and they got it fixed very well
i reported the problems less than 48h after receiving the pc but they didnt respond until today, so im assuming its still all good
Yeah they close on Weekends so makes sense for no response
i see
Refund period is within two weeks if no issues, refund with issues is up to 30 days and warranty for parts is 2 years
IIRC
i see
But during the week, you'll get a response within 4 hours normally (within working hours)
Ryzen 7000 when doing anything remotely taxing skyrockets in temp but that's not what I'm seeing here tbh
π
I know it's the same reading across the board, but don't use iCue or that for accurate tempature readouts
always use HWINFO for any of that]
Download either the Installer or Portable version
For temperatures, run in Sensor Only mode.
Oh
everything just doesnt want to work for me
Try it again and if it doesn't work just send it back to CPUK for inspection
yeah its still the same
is the PC hot to the touch
yea?
I KNOW WHATS WRONG
oh?
The damn paste coverage
?
Some of the CPU is stone cold
And some is hot
That's why some part of the CPU is like 40C
do you want me to take a picture of the paste
okay
tbh I was kinda sus when a part of it is 38c
Oh wow yeah I think the paste is awful
:tada: Congrats @astral wadi, you levelled up to 6! :tada:
egh not too bad
looks fine to me
How do I ensure its on right
In this video I am going to show you how to install the Cooler Master ML240L V2 RGB on AMD's AM4 socket.
COOLER MASTER ARGB SETUP GUIDE: https://youtu.be/sVkxpmGcmd4
Cooler Master ML240L V2 RGB

tbh one side feels like it's pushed down more than the other
it doesn't seem to sit evenly
I can't tell if it's mounted correctly or not
Follow the video and see if you can do that
Both sides do a clip thing
The video explains it perfectly
You just tilt it so one side gets clipped in, then get the other side slowly
While tightening one side it just refuses to tighten and just clicks
It's like endless tightening and it doesn't do anything
And that side is clipped in?
You sure?
Yeah I tighten it and then it just goes loose again when I twist it more
It's definitely on
Did you apply even pressure? So screw one side then the other then the other
If you didn't then untighten the other side and do it evenly
Boom overheating fixed
if that was the issue
turn that PC on and lets see the temps now
PC Explodes
Hold on im tightening as much as possible π
make sure not to over tighten
CPU snaps in half from overtighten
Especially on AM5 because of those delicate pins
I have heard reports of mounting pressure causing weird BSODs and stuff it's crazy
okay cheers

Looks quite good no?
And what temp are we sitting at now?

I've seen enough tbh
i dont get what the issue cna be
Something isn't right and you need to get it repaired
I know, it's confusing for me π
Its cold and hot
Maybe a part of the cooler is just ineffective?
like most of the core temps look fine
Get the RMA forum tomorrow and send it back because it's clearly not right
I mean you'll always have some cores that boost higher than others, so get hotter
Not that much delta
but sitting at that temp not under any load is weird
mine for example
you can see soem P cores running higher
wacky
thanks for trying to help tho guys
hopefully i get some upgrades for the time its taking to sort this out lol
doubt it but i can always hope
If you ask nicely they might give you some stickers on the house
You can always pay the difference of a better AIO
^
ALTHOUGH this AIO is not normal and this is just defective probably
off the top of my head, think a corsair one is like Β£120-150
Dunno, it's a bit more but there's some Corsair ones
yikes expensive
Well you've paid most of it already lol
Mmm I think you are good with the cyberpower one as it should do the trick
How much was ur current AIO?
christmas kills everyone's bank account dw
Probably around Β£80 if I had to guess
For the wrong reasons
Ah not too bad
Give shit to people you see once a year say bye and regret life choices
Right so the AIO you have right now is fine but defective
idek what the aio is
The thing you just remounted
no i mean idk which one it is
ah
Its just a coolermaster rebrand
or the coolermaster with a cyber power sticker on it
one of my cores just jumped to 80c lol
It's just the fact it's such a simple thing but it's not
π
Does this mean I have good rizz
I can finally go outside and talk to some women
Guys you think they like PC vocabulary π₯Ί
ah yes, go outside and rizz up a woman "ah yes baby, you look like a 240mm corsair radiator"
"let me slide into those 4070 artifacts"
Worked for me
Why do we do this in every support thread
I'm sorry Kian
I'll make your AIO pump well m'lady
Da fuq
Windows reinstall is the last step I would logically take
i cant be bothered to do all that tbh
ill just wait for a repair lol
it didnt work once so i cant be bothered to try again
Yeah no worries no customer is required to do any troubleshooting
If you buy from a PC company and it broke, give them intel and take it away
as long as i get a functional one back i dont mind π
Mate if you don't I would be so surprised
spent a considerable amount on this
im just confused at how something like this slips under the radar but idk how their stuff works
It will get sorted out very well, they will time on it don't worry
Well suspicion I believe if uh
They plug in a windows SSD to test the system
That's how your current drive hasn't been used before
So if it is an OS sensor issue perhaps that's what we are dealing with
Considering memtest showed OK temperatures
And the fact OCCT doesn't burn your PC down
@viscid shale just got my pc back after returning it, still running at 75C on startup
Idk what tests they do but clearly they don't bother checking
idk what steps to take now but if possible I'm just going to try and get a full refund and shop elsewhere
A month after placing my order and I still don't have what I paid for
Whats your temps looking like in HWINFO?
75-80
still
even after they "replaced" the cooler
I don't get what tests they're doing because they should've noticed this
Twice in a row there's been problems
Does the system actively feel hot?
Not from the outside but my fans are running so fast and loud
under no load I don't think that's necessary
Lets see what @viscid shale says, I want to potentially blame it on some faulty sensor because the likelihood of two coolers in a row being faulty is a bit extreme
I wouldn't expect you to live with it, it's clearly not functioning as it should
if you pay for a system, you kinda expect it to work as intended
and a system running at 75c on idle, that ain't intended
idk what it is, but I'm tired of having constant problems
I paid for this a month ago it shouldn't take this long to get it sorted
tbh I'd be the same as you, especially if after receiving it back, it's still having the same issues
The AIO is working
No I am not putting it up to cooler
The BIOS is running perfectly fine
all of them are quite low, one is about 60C
And then apparently my temps are 80
So I don't understand π
You see, even 60c is still way too hot for no load
Most are 25-40
I'm just completely baffled
you see, thats more reasonable
faulty sensor?
Maybe a bad CPU?
I know something you can do @astral wadi
In HWInfo look for the motherboard readouts
it will report CPU temps it detects
I can't lie
:tada: Congrats @astral wadi, you levelled up to 7! :tada:
I factory reset my pc before discussing with you guys
and my fans aren't running at Mach 10 after reinstalling the OS
it just finished now
I mean I'm not certain yet it could randomly start
Keep us updated
Maybe there was a bad install on one of the pre-installed applications
well not for certain
I'm currently doing all the installations for drivers that my motherboard asks for and then I'll download hwinfo
10 minute cpu uptime and my fans haven't taken off yet so it might be solved
I'll keep you updated when I can
Thanks, I should of tried suggesting that when I could but that is one weird issue.
nah I didn't expect it to be a problem
Idk what could've caused it if it does end up being fixed
I think I know what it might be actually my fans are starting to speed up a bit
my CPU spiked to 5ghz and my fans were going mental and then when it went back to 4.2ghz it slowed right down
but I still don't think that should be the case
Yeah no, it seems better now though?
not for sure, still installing a load of drivers
okie dokie, lets hope!
how do I download hwinfo again
Download either the Installer or Portable version
For temperatures, run in Sensor Only mode.
Yeah I think it's sorted
potentially?
installing drivers and everything and average temp is 44.2
Max of 55.6
π
right now I'm running 34.4
I have no idea I'm so confused
Well enjoy your PC...???
You are?
What are you concerned about?
or maybe not
I think you are okay
idk, I just spiked at 70c
Thats normal
okay
Sorry I'm so stressed with all this
I trust your judgement you're very intelligible with these things
I'll have to install a game and see
I've got just hwinfo open now and I'm sitting at 33 π
I'll pipe down
Seems good
Yeah feel free to do so, hopefully everything goes okay
Thanks
this is so nice
temps sitting at about 65-70 in game and i was getting over 1300 fps compared to my old 100 :D
valorant, but only in the practice range not in a proper match
CPU temps seem fine
but still, an increase of over 10x my frames
sounds goood
Yeah had no problems last night, idk why reinstalling windows worked but thanks to everyone for helping despite not knowing what was up π
