#looking to upgrade my cpu and ram
126 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Rust is such a weirdly optimised/unoptimised game, so it's very difficult to give a accurate answer to that.
One thing I've noticed is the 64GB of DDR5? Most systems would be fine with 32GB so that could save you some money, unless you do need 64GB for anything.
Yeah o was gonna get one 32 stick
Is that cpu a big upgrade from my original in general?
Ideally get two 16GB sticks
It'll run better in dual channel
Ah ok
How much breathing room would that give me for a slight increase in the cpu
Than the one listed there
My budget is £600
The CPU is defo a good percentage better than the 4500
I’m just worried I’ll get it upgraded and still get shit fps on rust
It’s the only game me and my mate play on pc tbh
His pc is an absolute beast but mine cannot run that game
Barely get 60 rn
What GPU do you have?

One thing is, Rust does seem to be incredibly memory intensive,
I thought it was
Looking at benchmarks, 21GB usage is the norm
That's probably your bottleneck
But 32GB will do you fine for it,
thanks for the help, im gonna go for 32 gb ram and try and squeeze in as best cpu as i can get for the money
:tada: Congrats @thin locust, you levelled up to 9! :tada:
I think with the 7600X you'd be at the max for that platform iirc
thats a lie
ignore me
you're already onto the new platform with that new mobo/cpu combo
See if you can squeeze to a 7800X3D
best gaming CPU
7800X3D is £125+VAT
it's a bit steep
but if you want a cracking CPU
then after that CPU, you'd only need to upgrade your GPU for a cracking rig
£125 more than the one listed above?
compared to the 7600X you picked, yeah
Mudkip the price may differ to the one actually quoted
he's doing a straight upgrade with CPUK so might be cheaper idk
so im looking at around £300 for that cpu
A bit more
Go for the 7500F 32GB of RAM and an AIO
is it a big fan mount or does it have tubes
big fan mount
then its a air cooler
Gives you upgradability
im just looking for a cpu that i wont need to upgrade for some time
Fair enough but the 7500F performs the same as the 7600
or that little extra for the 7800X3D
is the 7800X3D compatible with the motherboard im buying?
Yes
okay ill see what i can afford thanks guys
is the 7500F better than the 7600X?
No, but it's cheaper for little to no performance loss
ah ok
That way you can fit in a beefy air cooler or liquid cooler and get a better upgrade in the future
yeah ill have a look, i just need a cpu that can keep up
That with a cooler?
Yeah
And ddr5 ram
And the motherboard ofc
I’m hoping this is a big upgrade
Fingers crossed
And more ram
I’m hoping I just have stable fps on rust
We haven’t been able to play it bc of my pc
That should be able to handle it no problem
🤞🏽
Its £753 including the 64gb ddr5 ram
I still don't think you'd need 64GB unless you're doing some serious rendering or such
but it's up to you
Yeah 32GB is fine for many years
Yeah I’m getting 32 instead
How much would that bring it down
Good hundred I would assume?
Probably a good amount
What is my name
DDR5 is faster
No
@thin locust Sorry to bother have you ever tried games like apex/fortnite with the Ryzen 5 4500? What’s the fps in the games, looking to buy a prebuilt with that cpu
Games depend on the GPU alot aswell
With a 3060 I get around 160 fps on fortnite
Low graphics performance mode
Fluctuated between 120-160
And I don’t play apex
But when I did I got very good fps on apex
Like 240 stable
That game is very well optimised
That’s with 16gb ddr4 ram
I would say try and increase your budget for a better cpu if you can though
The 4500 is very outdated
It struggles with most games
Rust is virtually unplayable with it
