Hi I’ve been looking to upgrade from a ryzen 5 4500 and 16 gb of ram, does this look like a significant upgrade. Just need to know if it’ll run rust at stable fps
Ryzen 5 7600X - £168 + VAT
MSI PRO B650-S WIFI Motherboard - £120 + VAT
2x32GB DDR5 5600MHZ KINGSTON FURY BEAST RGB - £180 + VAT

Rust is such a weirdly optimised/unoptimised game, so it's very difficult to give a accurate answer to that.
One thing I've noticed is the 64GB of DDR5? Most systems would be fine with 32GB so that could save you some money, unless you do need 64GB for anything.

Is that cpu a big upgrade from my original in general?

warped basin
#

It'll run better in dual channel

thin locust
#

Ah ok

#

How much breathing room would that give me for a slight increase in the cpu

#

Than the one listed there

#

My budget is £600

warped basin
#

The CPU is defo a good percentage better than the 4500

thin locust
#

I’m just worried I’ll get it upgraded and still get shit fps on rust

#

It’s the only game me and my mate play on pc tbh

#

His pc is an absolute beast but mine cannot run that game

#

Barely get 60 rn

warped basin
#

What GPU do you have?

thin locust
#

3060

#

NVIDIA GeForce 3060

#

Upgrading to a 4070 after I’ve done my cpu upgrades

warped basin
#

One thing is, Rust does seem to be incredibly memory intensive,

thin locust
#

I thought it was

warped basin
#

Looking at benchmarks, 21GB usage is the norm

thin locust
#

It puts my ram to 98% rn

#

But I’ve only got 16gb

warped basin
#

That's probably your bottleneck

thin locust
#

And it’s ddr4 I think

#

Possibly

warped basin
#

But 32GB will do you fine for it,

thin locust
#

thanks for the help, im gonna go for 32 gb ram and try and squeeze in as best cpu as i can get for the money

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @thin locust, you levelled up to 9! :tada: cprgbglitch

warped basin
#

I think with the 7600X you'd be at the max for that platform iirc

#

thats a lie

#

ignore me

#

you're already onto the new platform with that new mobo/cpu combo

#

See if you can squeeze to a 7800X3D

#

best gaming CPU

thin locust
#

how much does it cost?

warped basin
#

7800X3D is £125+VAT

#

it's a bit steep

#

but if you want a cracking CPU

#

then after that CPU, you'd only need to upgrade your GPU for a cracking rig

thin locust
warped basin
#

compared to the 7600X you picked, yeah

plush hawk
#

Mudkip the price may differ to the one actually quoted

warped basin
thin locust
plush hawk
#

A bit more

thin locust
#

thats doable

#

maybe not if it needs a higher cooling system

#

ill look into it

warped basin
#

what do you have at the moment? air cooler?

#

AIO?

thin locust
#

not too sure

#

how can i check

plush hawk
#

Go for the 7500F 32GB of RAM and an AIO

warped basin
#

is it a big fan mount or does it have tubes

thin locust
#

big fan mount

warped basin
#

then its a air cooler

plush hawk
#

Gives you upgradability

thin locust
#

im just looking for a cpu that i wont need to upgrade for some time

plush hawk
#

Fair enough but the 7500F performs the same as the 7600

warped basin
#

or that little extra for the 7800X3D

thin locust
#

is the 7800X3D compatible with the motherboard im buying?

plush hawk
#

Yes

thin locust
#

okay ill see what i can afford thanks guys

warped basin
#

or just go with the 7500F

#

as accent said

thin locust
#

is the 7500F better than the 7600X?

plush hawk
#

No, but it's cheaper for little to no performance loss

thin locust
#

ah ok

plush hawk
#

That way you can fit in a beefy air cooler or liquid cooler and get a better upgrade in the future

thin locust
#

yeah ill have a look, i just need a cpu that can keep up

thin locust
#

If I get the 7800x3d it comes up to £753

#

Pretty pricey but I think I can do it

plush hawk
#

That with a cooler?

thin locust
#

Yeah

#

And ddr5 ram

#

And the motherboard ofc

#

I’m hoping this is a big upgrade

#

Fingers crossed

warped basin
#

Oh trust me thats a great upgrade

#

going from a 4500 to a 7800X3D

thin locust
#

And more ram

#

I’m hoping I just have stable fps on rust

#

We haven’t been able to play it bc of my pc

warped basin
#

That should be able to handle it no problem

thin locust
#

🤞🏽

thin locust
#

Its £753 including the 64gb ddr5 ram

warped basin
#

I still don't think you'd need 64GB unless you're doing some serious rendering or such

#

but it's up to you

plush hawk
#

Yeah 32GB is fine for many years

thin locust
#

How much would that bring it down

plush hawk
#

Good hundred I would assume?

warped basin
#

Probably a good amount

plush hawk
#

What is my name

warped basin
#

wtf

thin locust
#

Ah ok

#

What’s the different with ddr4 and ddr5

warped basin
#

DDR5 is faster

thin locust
#

Ok ty

#

Will any modern games need more than 32 gig?

#

Of ram

plush hawk
#

No

thin locust
#

Alright

#

Thansk guys you’ve been very helpful

#

Appreciate it

hoary ravine
#

@thin locust Sorry to bother have you ever tried games like apex/fortnite with the Ryzen 5 4500? What’s the fps in the games, looking to buy a prebuilt with that cpu

plush hawk
thin locust
#

Low graphics performance mode

#

Fluctuated between 120-160

#

And I don’t play apex

#

But when I did I got very good fps on apex

#

Like 240 stable

#

That game is very well optimised

#

That’s with 16gb ddr4 ram

thin locust
#

The 4500 is very outdated

#

It struggles with most games

#

Rust is virtually unplayable with it
