Morning all, I haven't been a PC gamer in easily 15 years and to be honest with you after being an amid console player for all that time I do miss it.
I was just wondering what the best spec PC I could get for around £1500/£1600.
I do play some FPS shooters and MMO/MMORPG.
Not a lover of AMD has had a lot of issues with it in the past.
Would ideally like 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD

A wee bit over budget, but a cracking build]
solid build. Can drop in another NVME/SSD later on when more dosh arrives
To save a few pennies, could drop the speed of the ssd. Not very noticable and could be worth it. Could also get away with a 13600k with that gpu.
Could be a small bottleneck. So if you can stretch your budget, the 13700kf would be better
looks good mate thank you. May i ask is there much difference between that one and this one?

You can change it to a 360mm if you want, not needed, but nice.
yeah sorry im not a lover of AMD unfortunately im just debating on which one is better to be fair
sorry to be a pain, gaming computers have evolved so much since i last had one
is there much difference between the on you put in Mudkip and the one that i found?
:tada: Congrats @ornate vigil, you levelled up to 1! :tada:
yeah? its cheaper as well to be fair whys that the case then? i appreciate all the help
Looks like it's cheaper cos different components
the one with the 4060ti has a 360mm AIO and also a better CPU
The 4070 one is better overall imo
is it worth getting a wireless card as well?
The one with the 4070 has Wifi built in to the mobo so that's good to go

😦
This one is good :]
guessing that one is the same spec just different motherboard?
Yeah get the wifi one so you dont have to worry about wifi dongles / cards
perfect and just to make sure it comes with 2 fans yeah?
jeez fairplay
i only asked as it only says 2 fans w/case
Yeah it can be confusing aha
is it worth paying the extra £67 for 14th gen i5?
No
Personally I don't think so.
BUT some people just might see a point in it, you can search online the difference,
okay i'll have a quick look, appreciate all the help
:tada: Congrats @ornate vigil, you levelled up to 2! :tada:
sorry to bother you all, i know you're extremely busy. before i go ahead and order this im going to say the power cable and everything is supplied with this?
Power cable is included, yeah.
All the stuff is in there to turn on the computer
You may need a DP/HDMI cable and obviously a monitor
No worries
any recommendations on delivery just incase with couriers damaging anything?
All insured so don't worry 🙂
Finally been paid and going to do the buy now pat later option 12 month. If I'm right in saying I can just pay off how ever much I want every month?
I'm not too sure on the finance side of it all, You can check the agreement when you get the forms and see what the situation is
Some may want you to pay a fixed amount per month to fully utilise the agreement, or some let you pay however much you want per month (aslong as its above the minimum)
okay thank you
No worries, If I'm not mistakened, with buy now pay later, if you don't pay it all off in the 12 months, the interest is deferred to the beginning of the agreement, so just make sure it's fully paid within the 12
yeah thats what i was looking at and was wondering if i could just pay off bit off every month like
I have something similar with a store card, and by jesus you don't want that term to end and then get a massive amount slapped on for interest
Yeah that's what I don't want to happen like, like I know I'll pay it off within the 12months but was wondering whether I could pay like £200 one month and then £300 another you know
I always forget, I don't think buy now pay later ones actually have like a minimum payment each month until after the 12 months, in which case, you can pay as much as you want to it each month, and if it's completely paid before the end of the 12 months, no interest
Happy days
Okay so my pc arrived today which is great news and looks incredible but there's a bag with some components in along with a box also but can't seem to find any power cable
Scrap that I've found the power cable but what all the other wires in the bags etc?
most important step: monitor cables IN GPU!!
the wires in the bag are just extras
although you may have antennas in their for your wifi depending on what motherboard you got
Yeah I had 2 antennas which I haven't put in but it has connected to the WiFi
Put the antennas on without them you'll get very slow speeds
At the back of your PC you should have something that looks like this
the antennas just hand screw on easily
Why thank you
:tada: Congrats @ornate vigil, you levelled up to 3! :tada:
I will go wired eventually but wireless will do me for the time being
I've used wireless for my whole life ngl 💀
my room is upstairs the router is downstairs and can't be bothered going through the effort of getting someone to put wires through the wall or get a powerline adapter
my wifi speeds are good anyway
Unfortunately where I live at the moment best I can get is around 50mps, where I used to live was around 180/200mps
What happens when your Mrs picks where you wanna live 😂
Yeah can't argue with that you'll get slapped up
Exactly mate
50? that's what I'm getting here - must be at the end of the frigging line from the junction box
Honestly it's a nightmare but weirdly enough I haven't had any problems with gaming like
Fun fact I used to get like 30 download, I live in remote scottish highlands, and then the government spent a few million to give us all fibre, now I get 900 download
Lucky sod
Quick question hdmi or display port?
Okay sound is it like HDMi to display port then or Display port from PC to Monitor
Is there a huge difference between them then?
If your monitor has a display port then do DP-DP cable
DP is better performance and can run higher refresh rates on it too
Anyone now as to why my screen will no longer show up on my monitor PC is on but nothing showing on it at all
If you have a discrete GPU then you need to plug your monitor cable into the graphics card, not the motherboard. This can be found on the Quick Start Guide which was emailed to you, or you can download it with the /tag guide command.
You've actually saved my life I completely forgot there were ports there 😂
Thank you
tsh ( nah its all good alot of people forget 😅 )
Evening all, only a quick one I've noticed my CPU is now running around the 2300rpm mark.
Does that sound normal at all or? It runs that even when doing nothing on it
It's all okay is it and the pump won't blow or anything?
The pump is designed to run at 100% all the time
If it doesn't, it is more likely to fail. (Might be wrong, some pumps are controlled via icue, Lconnect etc)
Ah right okay so the noise I can hear then is most likely the pump?
It only gets louder when loading a game up
That's the fan
A pump sounds alot different
Like a grinding noise not sure how to describe it
You can use the bios
The fans you are probably hearing is the Lancool 216 front fans
They get quite loud
Yeah it probably is them
Yeah true it might be because I've got my pc on the floor under my desk if I was to move it on to the desk could potentially be quieter?
:tada: Congrats @ornate vigil, you levelled up to 4! :tada:
Is it not recommended to adjust the fans?
Nono, you are free to adjust them
I was saying when you do adjust them the fans are still doing really good
I have them silent, same case
It would probably hinder the performance of it all though? I do want them just that tad bit quieter
Not at all
I'll have to have a look tomorrow, do you have any recommended settings for them? With it being a gaming PC didn't know if there would be recommended settings
Tbh, not really. Just tune them to something reasonable
Okay no worries I'll see what I can do tonight then, bet to access it through the bios then and not their programme?
I have been looking for the last few days at selling my ps5 and using my extra money saved to get a pc, game i play is rainbow 6, i dont really know what im really after, done some research but builds are all over the place varying from £500-£2.5k, can anyone lead me to the right build to play r6 smoothly on pc?
@worn mantle what settings you got your fans on then? Looking at the bios now and can't find how to adjust them
Hardware monitor or something like that
get into advanced mode (f7)
I would leave the top dot, and drag everything down
Down to what exactly?
What sounds good
Jeez put it all on default and it went crazy
Yeah both on PWM now
CPU1 can be DC
Would you do it on CPU1 or System
System is the fans you are wanting
Okay with me putting CPU on DC what does that do then?
That's the cpu1
Keep tuning the fans till they sound good enough for ya
Got that for system 4
Is it quiet to you?
Seems quieter
Quiet enough?
Yeah
Great, that should be ok then
Can still hear it but not as loud have to see what it sounds like when playing a game
Me doing that now won't do anything to the PC will it
I've just lowered thr 3 and kept the top one as it is
Looks good
I'm just worried it'll do anything like
