#strange start up graphical issue

Morning,

So this is a weird one and I have a work around but if I can cure it then great. I’ll try to explain it the best I can.

On startup, everything will seem normal. No errors, no problems.

As applications start to load up, such as discord or fanalabs things look to be blurry. The definition is not crisp. Fuzzy, if you will.
So far doesn’t sound too bad, but.
If I then carry on using the pc everything looks like a turd (fuzzy like above description), I get random sort of glitching on the screen (usually bottom half, top half always seems normal). It causes problems while in games.
All nvidia drivers are up to date. If the problem comes up on start up then resetting the unit makes it go away 95% of the time. However last night it happened without showing the initial signs of the problem. So I didn’t know that a restart was required until it was too late.

This problem usually occurs on the first start up of the day but can happen if I’ve spent a few hours away.

I’m not the best on pc (but always learning) so would ask that any advice would be given in a dumbed down version.

Attached is a pic of spec. Only difference now, the ram has been increased.

Many thanks for your time

@faint mulch hey man sorry to hear it’s being a bit buggy. Let’s try get this sorted in one go

#

Could you try downloading “GeForce experience” and checking the drivers tab to make sure your drivers are up to date?

I’ve got that one and everything is updated regularly. Latest one being yesterday morning I believe. Might’ve been the day before.

#

I do normally do express installation on it though. So if it’s something to do with that maybe?

When you say fuzziness, do you mean like blurred lines or more artifacting like this

More blurred lines. Like writing for example is like I’ve drank 10 pints

Hahaha that’s a good way to describe it

#

Okay I’d try 2 things first that are a bit more simple

#
  1. I’d reseat the GPU in case it’s got some connectivity issues with its PCIE Lane slot which can sometimes happen

Reseating GPU

If this doesn’t work, I’d try a different DP or HDMI cable (you can try this before reseating if you want)

#

And then if neither of those work I suggest we do a DDU in case some of the drivers have installed badly and need to be entirely wiped and reinstalled, which again doesn’t happen often but does happen.

Ok I’ll try the first two and see how I get on.
Then look up this ddu 😂

Display Driver Uninstaller

:one: Download the driver for your GPU from the manufacturer's website using the links below, but don't install them yet.
:two: Download the latest version of DDU by clicking the button below, clicking on the top post which is called "Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) VXX.X.X.X Released", and clicking ***Official Download Here*** in that post.
:three: Disconnect from the Internet by unplugging your ethernet cable or turning off WiFi in the bottom-right corner.
:four: Open the program you just downloaded, choose a location for DDU to be saved, then click Extract
:five: Open the Start Menu, click the power icon then hold Shift on your keyboard and click Restart. Once your PC has restarted, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, and press 4 to load into safe mode.
:six: Find the folder you extracted DDU into and open Display Driver Uninstaller.
:seven: On the right side, select the type as GPU, and the brand as the manufacturer of your GPU. Then, click 'Clean and Restart'.
:eight: Once you have loaded back into Windows, install the GPU drivers you downloaded earlier. Once they have installed, connect back to the Internet.
